For the longest time, Warren G. Harding was a president whose name kids would memorize in order to be able to recite the names of every single U.S. president. None of his policies and his short term are remembered very much, but now that’s all changed with the discovery of some smutty letters, rich in detail, that he sent to his dear mistress.

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver investigates further and finds he even nicknamed his penis in the letters.

Though it’s been quite some time since Project Greenlight existed, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are bringing it back at HBO and looking for a great director via submissions.

Given that it’s a series where you not only get to direct a feature, but It follows you through that process, it might be worth your while.

Paul Scheer Is Putting NTSF:SD:SUV on Hold; Developing Other Projects at Adult Swim and HBO

Paul Scheer is as busy as he’s ever been. With being on plenty of shows, appearing on so many web videos, now getting into comic books, and still performing live, Scheer has a lot on his plate. Opting to not force another season of NTSF:SD:SUV out when he doesn’t feel inspired enough, he’s going to other projects that are in development.

One of them is at Adult Swim and is a G.I. Joe like cartoon that depicts Cobra nowadays. The HBO project is supposedly “True Detective-esque”.

While NTSF:SD:SUV is on hold, these two new developments already have us hooked.

Armando Iannucci, Mike Schur, Jenji Kohan, Mike Judge, Jenni Konner, Chuck Lorre, and Marc Maron Have a Fascinating Chat

The Hollywood Reporter gathered together comedy showrunners Mike Schur from Parks and Recreation, Jenji Kohan from Orange Is The New Black, Mike Judge from SIlicon Valley, Armando Iannucci from Veep, Jenni Konner from Girls, Chuck Lorre from Two and Half Men (and so many more), and Marc Maron from Maron to chat for awhile about being a showrunner for a comedy series in 2014.

The results are pretty intriguing and enlightening. At one point, due to the modifier asking the entire group a number questions that they qualified with an exemption of Lorre’s shows, Chuck Lorre asked, “What am I doing here?”

Silicon Valley Very Well Might Have Told the Best Dick Joke Ever

Considering how many jokes have been done on the subject of male genitalia throughout the history of comedy, it’s a bold statement to claim that any single dick joke could be the best one.

HBO’s Silicon Valley makes a case for a damn good one. And, to answer your question, yes, it involves complex mathematical equations.

There’s no more need to lament the absence of Danny McBride in your life because the series finale of Eastbound and Down has passed us.

Bill Hader To Create & Star In HBO Series

HBO is really racking it up with their comedy slate. We’re already highly anticipating The Brink with Jack Black and Tim Robbins and now we have an entire Bill Hader series to also look forward to.

Even if it’s Hader mostly doing obscure Star Wars impressions, we’d be cool with that.

Only having lasted one season at HBO almost a decade ago, The Comeback was very truly a cult comedy series for how fanatical the following was that it built.

Now set for six episodes back at HBO, it’ll join in the league of Arrested Development of series being brought back, seemingly, from the dead.

It’s been a true privilege getting to see one of the best up and coming comedians (he’s one of the few to receive our Tip of the Hat) in Jerrod Carmichael rise virtually from the ground up here in LA. The fact that he’s getting an HBO stand-up special presented by Funny or Die directed by Spike Lee makes this even more amazing.

The tapings will happen at The Comedy Store, which hasn’t had a televised comedy special done within its walls in quite some time, perhaps since HBO’s Young Comedians over 30 years ago. If you want to go, there will be two shows, Wed. May 7th at 8PM and 10:30PM and free to attend with RSVP.

Former NSA Director To Be First Guest of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver

As far as first guest choices, John Oliver and company are making a bold statement by not interviewing any of Oliver’s old friends or a big name or some cross-section of the two. Instead, Oliver is setting the tone for Last Week Tonight premiering this Sun. at HBO by having a former NSA director General Keith Alexander (Ret.) sit down and chat with him.

A choice like this definitely feels like Oliver is truly at the helm of the show and we can’t wait to see what Oliver gets away with in a few days.
