Fox Won’t Air New Animated Series Murder Police; Shopping Series to Other Networks

Well, publicity move or not, the notion that Fox won’t air Murder Police but still want to shop it around elsewhere makes us wonder what exactly did they object to that is more extreme than any of their animated series, especially with what is made with abandon at Fox ADHD.

We wouldn’t be surprised at all, however, if the series stays within the Fox Entertainment Group family and ends of at FXx.

The Simpsons Killing Off Iconic Character

In addition to the intrigue brought about who will The Simpsons be getting rid of, especially as they have a whole other season at Fox, we’re wondering if it’ll be Maggie Simpson who did it again…

Fox Renews ‘The Simpsons’ For 26th Season

The Simpsons have been running for so long, it’s weird to even think that they are getting renewed as opposed to just assuming they’ll just keep being on air (even with talk of the show bowing out relatively soon).

Either way, we’re looking forward to more guest directing of the opening credits.

John Mulaney Comedy Lands Series Order at Fox

If this turns out to be a hit series, which, given John Mulaney’s comedic sensibilities and having Martin Short around and perhaps keeping the rest of the stellar cast on board, there might just be a book written about how Fox essentially took this show when NBC didn’t want it.

We had a feeling that Mulaney was going to be a show somewhere.

Bob’s Burgers Season 4 Premiere Is Tonight

It would seem like it’s a big stay at home tonight as not only is Breaking Bad ending, but Bob’s Burgers is starting up again. We’re not sure how that will balance out for you personally, but we know that there won’t be conflict in catching both on TV.

Season 4 of Bob’s Burgers starts 8:30PM on Fox (and Breaking Bad is on at 9PM).

‘Bob’s Burgers’ Renewed For a 5th Season

It would seem Fox has another animated franchise hit on their hands and Bob’s Burgers would be not far off from from syndication on multiple networks.

Maybe, they’ll retake over that one Fatburger as a real life Bob’s Burger again.

Bob’s Burgers Returning at End of September

Bob’s Burgers is coming back for its 4th season at the end of the month, Sun. Sept. 29th 8:30PM, for any of those wondering/need a specific date to look forward to.

Also, interesting to note is that Fox seems to be grouping all their animated shows under the Fox Animation Domination banner as you’ll see at the bottom of the Bob’s Burgers ad that John Roberts tweeted out. We wonder if that makes the Fox ADHD brand a little more well rounded.

Both Aasif Mandvi and Michael Ian Black Join Fox’s New ‘Us & Them’ Making It Much More Intriguing

Sitcoms that lean towards romantic comedies are certainly nothing to get excited over as that seems to be the focus of many of them.

However, casting both Michael Ian Black and Aasif Mandvi for the new Fox series “Us & Them” makes for a much more enticing series that has definitely peaked our curiosity.

Rashida Jones & Will McCormack Gets First Pilot at Fox From Warner Bros TV

Even before she’s exiting Parks and Recreation, Rashida Jones has been busy at work with Will McCormack developing TV series for Warner Bros. Television and has just landed her first pilot over at Fox.

Already, her flip on a mother daughter comedy, sounds very intriguing, so keep a watch out for it.

Fox Buys Ken Marino & Erica Oyama Family Comedy Produced By Will Gluck & Sony TV

Fox has continued their interest (they’re writing a feature for Fox too) with the writing team of Ken Marino and Erica Oyama (the minds behind Burning Love) by buying a series from them & producer Will Gluck.

None of you will probably doubt us, but one of comedy’s biggest power couples has to now be Marino and Oyama.

We just thought you’d like to know just in case you wanted to get in on watching Axe Cop making .gifs before everyone else.

John Mulaney’s NBC Comedy Pilot Isn’t Dead Yet As Fox Orders New Script

One of the most hotly talked about pilots this past pilot season, and probably the most shocking when it didn’t get picked up, was John Mulaney’s pilot over at NBC. Not only featuring one of the funniest people in comedy right now in John Mulaney, the pilot had a star studded cast with the likes of Elliot Gould, Martin Short, and more.

Thankfully, Fox is interested and the project still has hope, though we hope it stays live action instead of becoming part of Fox’s arsenal of animated comedies.

Fox Picks Up a Bunch of New Comedy Series

Of the new round of comedy series Fox just announced, one is a comedy procedural with Andy Samberg and Terry Crews, one has Seth MacFarlane producing and Seth Green starring in a live action multicam sitcom, and another is set in a military base in Florida that we hear will have Ron Funches and Michelle Buteau in it.

We’re definitely curious to see how this will all play out

It’ll be interesting to see what they come up with and if it takes up way more time than the usual couch gag on The Simpsons. We also wonder when a Simpsons Museum comes around, will there be a whole gallery dedicated to the couch gag.

Check it at 8PM on Fox.

Is It That Surprising That Jimmy Fallon Would Succeed Jay Leno and Seth Meyers Succeed Jimmy Fallon?

There has been plenty of gossip and rumors over the last few days regarding the transitioning of Jay Leno at The Tonight Show to move to NYC and handing the reins to Late Night host, Jimmy Fallon. Even though the deal hasn’t been officially made, there’s even more speculation with Seth Meyers possibly filling in for Fallon if he indeed goes to 11:30 or Fox wanting Leno.

Again, this is still all based on high ranking NBC sources and not a done deal.

Having The Tonight Show move back to NYC might be a little surprising, but the rest of this seems pretty straightforward and pretty much in line with NBC’s current tone of late night comedy. If the worry is about the younger demographic (i.e. competing with Jimmy Kimmel), why aren’t they trying something a little different, tonally, like IFC or FX?

1) Due to time constraints and the limits of my own physical abilities, despite personal disregard for my own well being, the Comedy Bureau Morning Debriefing/Post Brunch Update will now be abbreviated to feature all things LA Comedy that need to be posted as early as possible.  As such, more involved, intensive articles, reviews, write-ups, opinion pieces, etc. will be featured separately in its own individual post like today’s review of last night’s amazing “Fifty First Jokes” in a few hours.

2) Tonight’s COMEDY CRAWL has nothing to do with any massive numbers of birds dying or any other signs of a apocalpyse, so that’s enough reason right there to go.  Bob’s Burgers @ Largo-The Coronet Theatre 8PM $20, Garfunkel and Oates @ UCB Theatre 8PM $10 (stand by only), Norm MacDonald @ Hollywood Improv 8PM $20, Stood Up Friday Night @ Moving Arts Theatre 10PM $5.

6) Marc Maron and the WTF Podcast was just featured in the New York Times yesterday, which people hopefully don’t attach to the simultaneous death of hundreds of birds just a few days ago like my Dad does (Dad’s opinion of Maron “He seems angry. Hmmmm.”)  Just read it.  It’s important.

7) The Comedy Bureau “Tips Its Hat” today to SHAWN PEARLMAN “@shawnpearlman It’s 10PM. Do you know where my watch is?” Shawn has some of the best, sharpest one liners in Los Angeles and you shouldn’t miss a chance to catch his cleverness. Website. Twitter. Check back at the Comedy Bureau for upcoming dates.
