At 11:59PM tonight on Comedy Central, Greg Fitzsimmons’ first 1 hour special, Life on Stage, will make its television premiere. That leaves plenty of time for you to watch Breaking Bad, process it, discuss it, and then catch what will be a damn funny guy doing an hour of stand-up.
That sounds like a pretty great Sunday night to us.
Dan Telfer Releases 24 Min. Set/Half Hour Special on Vimeo
Dan Telfer has just uploaded a long 24 min. set of his stand-up on Vimeo, free to watch, but hopefully for PayPal donations. If you were unaware, with commercials, most half hour stand up specials on TV actually time out to just under that time.
Basically, Dan’s giving you a half hour special for whatever you want to pay and you should take advantage of this.
Greg Fitzsimmons 1 Hour Special “Life on Stage” Premieres on Comedy Central This Sunday
Greg Fitzsimmons is having his first 1 hour special taped last year making its way to Comedy Central. “Life on Stage” will premiere this Sun. Aug. 18th at Midnight, which should give you more than enough time to watch whatever award winning dramatic series that you’ve been obsessed with out of the way.
Paul Scheer and Rob Huebel Are Making a ‘Crash Test’ Comedy Central Special
This is the type of move we’re hoping that Comedy Central would make. As the arena of cable network comedy is expanding in addition to the proliferation of comedy online, the old guard has to try some new things and the new thing of the day happens to be Paul Scheer and Rob Huebel doing a comedy special of their anything goes live show Crash Test.
And by anything goes, we mean we’ve been made to do an improvised pledge of allegiance to Crash Test, dissected Vin Diesel’s Facebook page, try to cheer up Pauly Shore’s former assistant who happened to be in the audience, and more.
We can’t wait to see what Scheer and Huebel come up with.
Sarah Silverman’s HBO Special to Air in November
It won’t quite be Maria Bamford’s Special Special Special performed in front of her parents in her house, but Sarah Silverman’s latest stand up special in an intimate venue in LA will be coming to HBO in late November.
We know that’s far away, but we’ll remind you again amidst all the attempts at making a hit Thanksgiving song around that time.
Netflix To Start Making Original Standup Specials
If Netflix can pull Arrested Development back from the proverbial TV graveyard, could they possibly get a special out of Dave Chappelle or Stephen Wright or any number of amazing comedians that have not put a special in a long time?
Well, if they want to, they better get on it before Chill or the ever growing number of cable TV networks that are getting into comedy beats them to it.

Greg Proops has just taped his comedy special live from the famous Musso & Frank restaurant in Hollywood and won’t keep his fans waiting long for it to come out. “Live from Musso & Frank” is set to come out Sept. 13th on Chill.com and is already on pre-order.
Just from this set picture alone, we’re excited to see his Proops in what might be the funniest and classiest comedy special this year.
Lewis Black’s Next Comedy Special To Be Aired Live as Paper Per View Event in August
Lewis Black is doing what almost no comedians are doing today, broadcasting their specials live via Pay Per View. Old Yeller will air on August 24th from The Borgata Theater in Atlantic City, NJ.
Also, there’s a VIP package for around $1000, give or take $200 or so depending on whether you’re one or two people, will get you front row seats, a meet and greet, two nights hotel, and many other amenities and access to exclusive parties.
Based on how this goes, we wonder if any comedians will follow suit like many have followed Louis CK’s self-producing-distributing comedy special model (including the $1000 VIP package).
Great comedy special news keeps rolling in this week as we have found out that the amazing Greg Proops is about to tape his latest comedy special for up and coming content distribution site, Chill.com. That would mean that Chill has gotten Maria Bamford, Ari Shaffir, Tom Rhodes, and now Greg Proops in their roster of comedy specials.
That sounds pretty good to us and we’re definitely excited to see Proops’ next special.
Bill Cosby Special ‘Far From Finished’ Airing on Comedy Central in November
We’re guessing this is the Bill Cosby taping we attended at the Cerritos Performing Arts Center. If it is, then you guys are in for one damn great comedy special, not that you didn’t already know that.

John Hodgman’s Ragnarok Now Available on Netflix
The words of John Hodgman’s book trilogy finally speak as the author of those very words speaks and moves in his Ragnarok special now available to watch at Netflix . On how Hodgman decorated the stage alone, we’re on board in addition to his wonderfully high brow silliness. So, get to watching already.
(In case you were wondering Netflix has actually being doing comedy specials for a little bit as Moshe Kasher and Todd Glass both have specials on there)
It’s not easy to talk about some things in comedy or even mention them in the title of your special, but leave it up to comedians like Brian Posehn to bring fart jokes to the forefront of comedy in an artful way even by just calling his upcoming special The Fartist.
It comes out on DVD and CD on June 25th and we just hope, because it’s called The Fartist, that there’s a musical number in there with, well, you know…

The long awaited series of half hour Comedy Central specials, The Half Hour, returns this Friday, tomorrow, May 3rd at MIDNIGHT. Starting it off are Dan Soder and Nikki Glaser, respectively. So, don’t wait until last call to go home or make sure the bar you’re at stops playing music and puts on Comedy Central at 12AM.
Not only are we getting to finally see a comedy special taped inside of the back room of Meltdown Comics, otherwise known as The Nerdmelt Showroom, but it will be the incredibly funny Morgan Murphy who will be taping said one-hour special.

Patton Oswalt Gearing Up For His Next Album/Special Almost Entirely in LA
In this post on his blog entitled “Comedy Without Planes”, Patton Oswalt describes how gone are the days of jetting around the country to refine material for his upcoming special/album. Instead, feeling drawn to his family and his home here in LA, he’s keeping it local and sharpening his jokes and stories around town at places like the Fake Gallery, Largo at the Coronet Theatre, and The Irvine Improv.
Where he will ultimately record his album will be announced, soon, but you should grab tickets to all these shows as we’re sure they will sell very fast.
