Passes and Tickets Now on Sale for The 3rd Annual LA Podcast Festival
The line-up isn’t announced yet, but The LA Podcast Festival is putting passes and tickets up for sale now because lots of folks come to this thing.
In fact, many of them come from around the globe for this thing, thus needing ample time to plan, which means you might want to snag some passes early on.
Bill Burr, Aziz Ansari, Marc Maron, Chris Hardwick @midnight, Aisha Tyler, and more will be at Nashville’s very first Wild West Comedy Festival from May 15th-18th. In addition to a nice line-up of top-billed acts, this festival surely has some surprises in store as Vince Vaughn’s Wild West Productions, Bud Light, and Netflix are all in cahoots for what is sure to be a great inaugural weekend for this Wild West Comedy Festival.
Tickets are now on sale if you’re planning on going, which you should be if you’re anywhere near Nashville in the middle of May.
Line-up/Tickets for The Very First Green Gravel Comedy Festival
The heart of Iowa is going to get a pretty great comedy festival come Mar. 28th-30th with The Green Gravel Comedy Festival featuring Jackie Kashian, Ryan Singer, Kevin McDonald, Junior Stopka, and more.
Tickets are on sale now and we suggest that you get them ASAP if you’re planning on going (and you should be if you can).
The Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival is set for its second round in Boston, MA from Thurs. May 1st-Sun. May 4th. As always, the names of the shows are so great that you should almost attend on that alone such as “A Night of Foreigners and Immigrants Taking Your American Standup Comedy Jobs” or “Wicked Local: This is the Kind of Awful Title Someone Would Give to A Comedy show that Features Comedians Who Live or Have Lived in Boston”.
Also, Kristen Schaal, Chelsea Peretti, John Hodgman, Bill Nye the Science Guy, and more will be there, so get your tickets which go on sale this Fri.
Aparna Nancherla, Brendon Walsh, Brooke Van Poppelen, Dave Hill, Greg Behrendt, Jen Kirkman, Kyle Kinane, Seaton Smith, and Set List are all crossing the Pacific to bring their dazzling comedy stylings to Melbourne, Australia for one of the biggest comedy festivals on the planet, The Melbourne International Comedy Festival from Mar. 26th-Apr. 20th.
UK acts Marcel Lucont and Reginald D Hunter as well as Australia’s own Celia Pacquola, Felicity Ward, Little Dum Dum Club, and Sam Simmons will also make a trip to MICF worthwhile, if you’re hanging around Melbourne for a month.

That’s right, Kyle Kinane, Ben Kronberg, Adam Cayton-Holland, Ben Roy, Andrew Orvedahl (otherwise known together as The Grawlix), Women comedy, Power Violence, Will Weldon, The Puterbaugh Sisters, and a whole other stack of funny people we like from around the country are coming to Omaha, NE from May 23rd-25th.
If you’re in or around Omaha then, you probably want to go ahead and make this your weekend.

2014 Bridgetown Comedy Festival Taking Submissions Until Jan. 24th
One of the best comedy festivals in the country, The Bridgetown Comedy Festival in Portland, OR, has been taking submissions since the end of 2013 and will do so for a week more.
If you’re a comedian or a comedy show and want in, you have until midnight Jan. 24th to submit.
The 2nd Riot LA Comedy Festival Was The Best Kind of Riot
If you couldn’t be at The Riot LA Comedy Festival this past weekend for some reason (and that list of reasons should be really small), we recapped some of the most amazing things we saw at the festival and will never forget how funny/magical/brilliant/etc. they all were over at The Nerdist.

Bloomington, Indiana’s Limestone Comedy Festival Taking Submissions
Indiana’s own The Limestone Comedy Festival is back for 2014, taking place from May 29th-31st.
They’re taking submissions for comedians all the way up to March 21st and might be a good chance to get a comedy festival under your belt/get to do a comedy festival with Jimmy Pardo and Ron Funches.
Kurt Braunohler to Launch His Comedy Central Web Series at Riot LA
We’re not too sure what the fantastic Kurt Braunohler has in store for his upcoming web series at Comedy Central/CC:Studios called Roustabout, but we have no doubt that it’ll be groundbreaking silliness of the highest degree.
If you’re in attendance at Riot LA this weekend (get tickets here), specifically Jan. 11th @ The Smell, like us, you’ll get exactly an idea of what Kurt’s up to in a special live preview.
Riot LA To Have The Rodney Dangerfield Stand Up Stand Out Award
The Riot LA Comedy Festival gets bigger and better with every passing day, especially since it’s happening next weekend. They have just announced that they’re going to have an honorary award showcase of comedians vying for The Rodney Dangerfield Stand Up Stand Out Award.
Just in case you didn’t know, Dangerfield was known for bringing up young comedians, one of them being Sam Kinison, in TV showcase specials. In the same spirit, this award searches for “originality, creativity, spirit and execution.
This year, in the showcase, will be Kate Berlant, Chris Garcia, Eliza Skinner, Tony Baker, Ian Karmel, Josh Fadem, and Christian Duguay, along with Fred Willard, Paul Rodriguez, Joan Dangerfield, and Dom Irrera judging which is a line-up you shouldn’t miss (get festival passes here).
We’re just saying that you’re not going to want to miss this most amazing comedy festival (as it was last time) known as Riot LA here in our backyard, all pretty much on one block, on Jan. 9th to Jan. 12th.
Passes start at $85. Please get on getting those now.
Lee Keeler, Matt Mesaros, Evan Watkins, and Derek Eadon are looking to throw one heck of a comedy festival in Iowa and are currently raising funds to put on The Green Gravel Comedy Festival.
They’ve started an IndieGoGo campaign and are attempting to raise $13,000 by Dec. 20th, which you might want to donate for the simple fact this promo video features not only Johnny Pemberton, The Walsh Brothers, John Ennis, and Josh Fadem, but also Todd Glass as “The Mayor of Iowa”.
Honestly, this could be really great and we hope that we can all make this happen.
Full Line-up and Schedule for Riot LA 2014
It looks like it’s going to be another fantastic round of Riot LA coming in Jan. 2014. Check out the plethora of great comedians (namely Todd Barry, Paul F. Tompkins, Morgan Murphy, Jimmy Pardo, Matt Jones, Chris Gethard, Sheng Wang, Erinn Hayes, Dana Gould, Carmen Lynch, Sean Patton, The Apple Sisters, Chris Garcia, Byron Bowers, Drennon Davis, Guy Branum, and much much more) and shows, many of which are staggered so you can get as much of your comedy festival fix as you need all within about a block of each other.
On Jan. 11th-12th 2014, the NYC PodFest is returning for another round just like the LA Podcast Festival did this past month and having good podcast line-up with shows from both coasts including The Dork Forest w/Jackie Kashian, Keith and The Girl, Risk! w/Kevin Allison, Pep Talks with Eddie Pepitone, Road Stories, and more.
Weekend passes are on sale for $100 and would probably be the perfect Christmas gift for the comedy/podcast fan in your life if you want to get that out of the way in Oct.
Our LA Podfest Recap For Nerdist
Many of you who are fans of so many comedy podcasts were unable to attend even though you probably, as our readers, live within in Los Angeles County (we get it-you have stuff to do and it’s on the Westside).
Well, we went all weekend long and recapped all of what we saw and heard at Nerdist for those that didn’t want to make the drive. By the way, some people came from London, Sydney, and Washington D.C. for this.

This month is going to be one hell of a great month for comedy in LA (on top of already it being kind of like a festival every night). This weekend The LA Podcast Festival is happening, then, two weeks later on Oct. 19th, Tenacious D’s Festival Supreme will take to the Santa Monica Pier and bring plenty of comedy awesomeness yet again.

The All Jane No Dick Comedy Festival in Portland, OR highlights many of the best voices in comedy that just happen to be female and with the likes of Bonnie McFarlane, Lauren Lapkus, Cameron Esposito, Aparna Nancherla, Janine Brito, Barbara Holm, Virginia Jones, and more, we think they’ll definitely pull it off.
