Andy Kaufman’s Comedy Album ‘Andy and His Grandmother” To Be Released Posthumously
This is definitely both exciting news and long overdue that Andy Kaufman recordings have been compiled and will now be released soon.
We wonder if there will be a lot of intentional play with the fact that it’s an album to be listened to as opposed to a live performance of Andy’s (i.e. a few tracks where it’s just him reading The Great Gatsby).
If the names Margot Leitman and Hannah Gansen are brand new to you, let their book and album, respectively, be your introduction to their wonderful comedy. Leitman’s “Gawky: Tales of an Extra Long Awkward Phase” features her hysterical true life stories and Gansen’s “Al The Bum” showcases her brilliant silliness in a collection of songs about North Korea and transgendered centaurs.

The very funny Geoff Tate (you might have seen on him The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson) has just come out with his very first comedy album through Stand Up Records, a label that’s been on a comedy album streak lately, called “I Got Potential”. A layman’s thinking man for all, Tate’s a delight to listen to and you should pick this up when you can.
You know that you’re going to pick this up anyway because Pete Holmes is one of the funniest comedians working today. Why not pre-order the his next album, ‘Nice Try, The Devil’ due out May 14th?

Patton Oswalt Gearing Up For His Next Album/Special Almost Entirely in LA
In this post on his blog entitled “Comedy Without Planes”, Patton Oswalt describes how gone are the days of jetting around the country to refine material for his upcoming special/album. Instead, feeling drawn to his family and his home here in LA, he’s keeping it local and sharpening his jokes and stories around town at places like the Fake Gallery, Largo at the Coronet Theatre, and The Irvine Improv.
Where he will ultimately record his album will be announced, soon, but you should grab tickets to all these shows as we’re sure they will sell very fast.
There are lots of exciting things going on with Comedy Central Records right now. One of them is an album from Whitest Kids U Know (there are on tour right now, so you might be seeing/have seen Trevor be hilarious soon/recently) member Trevor Moore called “Drunk Texts to Myself” due out Mar. 26th.

1. As it was recorded live in a bar in Sean Green’s hometown Philadelphia, PA, “The Whiskey Dick” is a great example of what a battle stand-up comedy is and how a funny comedian can win against a rowdy crowd.
2. Normally, when comedians talk about pop culture and sports, their jokes are often forced, rote, and predictable, but such is not the case with Green, who regularly makes fun of the two on his podcast, the Green Room Show.
3. Even though there is a good few minutes of Sean trying to shut everyone up, there is a specific inclusion of him dealing with hecklers that’s pretty great.
4. The youth of Green, which, arguably, he is still working through, provides for hysterical run-ins with the law and getting turned down by a Quiznos despite working at Quiznos.
