TCB Debriefing 11/30/23: Moontower, Kimmel/Aidy Bryant, Leo Reich, Daily Wire Adult Animated Series

1. Moontower JFL Austin makes their first line-up announcement, so plan accordingly.

2. Jimmy Kimmel is, of course, hosting the Oscars again and Aidy Bryant, a little more surprisingly, is hosting the Spirit Awards next year. Kimmel will probably do another solid job and become this generation’s poster boy for The Oscars, but we hope that Aidy uses her husband Conner O’Malley in a bit, if not several for the Spirit Awards telecast.

3. Take a gander at Leo Reich‘s first special, Literally Who Cares? coming direct to HBO (then probably watched by you at Max). As far as Gen Z comedy specials go, Leo is who putting their money on.

4. Conservative entertainment brand The Daily Wire is trying their hand at an adult animated series with the likes of Adam Carolla and Candace Owens set for the voice cast (Deadline). Get ready to be upset?

5. We’ll leave you with this: Anyone’s Spotify Wrapped have a comedian as their top artist?

See the Full Breadth of Big Mouth’s Human Resources In Its First Full-Length Trailer

It was kind of the tease of the last season of Big Mouth that there is more to the world of Hormone Monsters and Shame Wizards than what we’ve seen terrorize or inspire the human teens going through the nightmare that is puberty. Thus, that will be the core of the spin-off series Human Resources.

The world of Human Resources will explore all sorts of Depression Kitties, Logic Rocks, Grati-Toads, and much much more and how off-the-rails their world is as well. Per usual with Big Mouth (or shall we say the Big Mouth Cinematic Universe), it’s stacked with a bright, shining, star studded voice cast that includes Aidy Bryant, Nick Kroll, Maya Rudolph, Brandon Kyle Goodman, David Thewlis, Randall Park, Keke Palmer, Lupita Nyong’o, Rosie Perez, Ali Wong, Helen Mirren, Henry Winkler, Janelle Monáe, and Hugh Jackman.

Get a full, rollicking taste of what that’s all going to be like (maybe even more raunchy than Big Mouth?) in this trailer here, then look for all episodes to drop on Netflix on Fri. Mar. 18th.

John Early and Aidy Bryant Announce a Relationship and Made Late Night Fun Last Night

January 18, 2022
News
aidy bryant, john early, late night, seth meyers

What late night has had to do to get through to this side of the pandemic and what it will look like (and what it should be to justify its existence) in the years to come is largely a mystery.

Above all, it should always be centered on unhinged fun, the sort that is best viewed at 11PM onwards in the late night time slots.

Thus, a round of applause should be given to John Early and Aidy Bryant going all in on a bit and camping it up in “unveiling a relationship” on Late Night with Seth Meyers last night.

Please enjoy a much more fun relationship than whatever Kanye or Pete Davidson is up to here.

It’s almost as if there is an advent calendar for holiday charity live-streams that feature some of the biggest and brightest and best in comedy and music every day this week (and maybe next). There have been plenty of Georgia Runoff benefits, but they’re also big time festival-gala-ish line-ups that are supporting issues that are a little broader.

In the case of the Ally Coalition’s 7th Annual Talent Show, it’s supporting unhoused LGBTQ youth, some of the most vulnerable members of our population. For their very special evening, they’ve got the likes of Mike Birbiglia, Aidy Bryant, Reggie Watts, Jacqueline Novak, Chris Laker, Roy Wood Jr., The Lucas Brothers, and Kalen Allen on the bill. That’s in addition to musical performances from the likes of St. Vincent, Sleater-Kinney, Brittany Howard, Bleachers, Hayley Williams, and more.

It will all be streaming this Sun. Dec. 21st at 6PM PT from Jack Antonoff’s Twitch.

Get more info, full line-up, and details on specific orgs (Ruth Ellis Center, New Alternatives, Youth Breakout, Oakland LGBT Center, Bu Wellness Center, Lost-n-Found Youth) at theallycoalition.org.

There are so many issues on the table right now that it’s almost too easy that such monumental issues like climate change can be easily forgotten about. Thus, plenty of folks running for public office are taking up the mantle of pushing the tenets of The Green New Deal and combatting climate change in addition to every other fight that needs to be fought and need support.

That’s why there’s a huge benefit live-stream this Friday, Oct. 9th at 7PM PT/10PM ET presented by Sunrise Movement LA to benefit the campaigns of Green New Deal candidates at all levels of government for Los Angeles. To support them, a very stellar, stacked line-up including Amy Poehler, Jane Fonda, Aidy Bryant, Joaquin Phoenix, Demi Adejuyigbe, Julio Torres, Ayo Edebiri, and more will be performing virtually along with hosts Sandy Honig and Mitra Jouhari of Three Busy Debras fame.

Make a donation here, so you won’t miss out on Rise Los Angeles this Friday night.

Hulu’s Latest Comedy Will Be “Shrill” Starring Aidy Bryant and Based on Lindy West Book

Hulu gave a straight-to-series order for this adaptation of Lindy West’s memoir, Shrill: Notes from a Loud Woman and will join Future Man and Ramy as Hulu’s original comedy line-up.

If you take a look at Hulu’s original comedies, you’ve got to appreciate their dedication to high-concept single camera comedies often starring women, especially given how selective they’ve been compared to their competition.

By the way, Bryant will play the lead, Annie, based on Lindy and also stay on at SNL, which we’re sure answers the wishes of many.

Aidy Bryant Shares the Story of Her Out-of-Nowhere Marriage Proposal from Conner O’Malley

Long time couple Aidy Bryant from SNL and comedy madman Conner O’Malley are now engaged.

While on last night’s Late Night with Seth Meyers, Aidy recounted the unusual way that Conner proposed, which, if we think about it, is probably how a lot of comedians end up proposing.

Also, keep in mind that the guy in this man on the street video is the Conner popping the question in this story.

Often times, when a man remarries, he goes for a woman that is younger, perhaps so much younger that it’s kind of ridiculous.

So, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler highlighted that point on last night’s SNL with a new, innovative, somehow omniscient game show, Meet Your Second Wife.

Vimeo Announces an Aidy Bryant Short Film and a Stand Up Special from Bianca Del Rio on Its Original Programming Slate

Amidst the din of online content, Vimeo, where High Maintenance got found, is getting its content wheels turning.

SNL’s Aidy Bryant will be writing and starring in a surreal short film where she works in a fabric store and is dreaming of finding love.  Drag queen and comedian Bianca Del Rio is also getting a stand-up special, which will be a first for Vimeo as well.

Given the company’s penchant for top shelf content, we’re really curious to see what they got cooking.

Watch Aidy Bryant, Chris Gethard, and Shannon O’Neill Confront The Fear of Being Touched With Things While Blindfolded

Even though he has his name on his own show now on Fusion, Chris Gethard still cedes much of the control as to what happens to him on The Chris Gethard Show to his staff in order to make their brand of great television.

Last week, that meant putting Chris in a very effective blindfold along with TCGS’ Shannon O’Neill and SNL’s Aidy Bryant and be tormented with coming into contact with various object, both inanimate or alive.

Watch it all go down here.
