We’re half way into Jan. 2015 and if you haven’t bought a comedy album yet, you’re probably doing your New Year’s resolution, whatever it is, wrong.

Fix that by picking up Christina Pazsitzky’s brand new, mischievously titled comedy album “Man of the Year”. Do so on iTunes or CD Baby.

David Letterman let his staff get a loose last night by having a few of them that have formed an improv group do a scene during The Late Show.

Watch and enjoy it here and let’s hope that in these final months of Letterman’s tenure at The Late Show, he keeps up this sort of great weirdness going.

VH1 Classic To Do 433 Hour Marathon of SNL

We’re marathoning 19 days of back-to-back SNL episodes (433 hrs) starting JAN 28! http://t.co/pOGojmXJp6 #SNLclassic pic.twitter.com/ku2V4aUrqA

— VH1 Classic (@VH1Classic) January 14, 2015

Saturday Night Live is currently in its 40th season and VH1 Classic is marking the occasion by putting on the biggest single marathon of a series ever.

433 hours of SNL will air on the network starting Jan. 28th. FXx’s Simpsons marathon only spanned 12 days, which would come out to only at 298 hours maximum.

The SNL Rewind:  2015 – 1975 Mega-Marathon will visit every single one of the 39 past seasons of the legendary live sketch variety show, which, for our money, means we’ll probably get to watch every bit of Celebrity Jeopardy again.

Simon Amstell Has Now Added Conan To His Growing American Stand-Up Resume

Simon Amstell has impressively toured through American late night including The Late Show with David Letterman, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.

Now, Simon can add Conan to that list with this latest stand-up set.

With Armando Iannucci, James Corden, Steve Coogan, Daniel Sloss, and Simon, we’re wondering if there is a new British Invasion and, if so, is it one of comedy?

“Birdman” and “Grand Budapest Hotel” Continue To Get Nominated For Almost Everything

The nominations for both The Oscars and The DGA Awards were just recently released and while it isn’t coming as much of a surprise, Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) and The Grand Budapest Hotel have kept on sweeping up honors left and right this awards season.

Already, both films have scored wins at The Golden Globes and have garnered nominations at The SAG Awards.

For The Oscars, Birdman is nominated for Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actor in a Supporting Role, Best Actress in a Supporting Role, Best Cinematography, Best Directing, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, Best Original Screenplay.

The Grand Budapest Hotel racked up Best Picture, Best Score, Best Costume Design, Best Film Editing, Best Makeup and Hairstyling, Best Production Design, Best Cinematography, Best Directing, and Best Original Screenplay.

On top of that, Wes Anderson and Alejandro González Iñáritu both were nominated by The DGA Awards for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film.

That’s 9 Oscar nominations each for the pair, which, above all else, should be noteworthy because they both are comedies, especially in contrast to the rest of the nominated fare.  Traditionally, comedy goes generally overlooked during awards season unless it’s in its own category, especially at The Oscars.

Maybe this genre glass ceiling has been broken with two comedy powerhouse frontrunners? We certainly hope so.

Last week, we reported the good news that Hotwives of Orlando was getting a second season over at Hulu. At the time, we were under the impression that there was going to be a whole new cast, but, Casey Wilson, who plays one of the central Hotwives, revealed on Late Night with Seth Meyers this week that the cast is returning and only their characters will be different for Hotwives of Las Vegas.

So, that means the fantastic cast of Casey, Danielle Schneider, Kristen Schaal, Tymberlee Hill, Andrea Savage, and Angela Kinsey are all returning.

We’ll be looking forward to “no drama” very soon.

Last Summer, Kurt Braunohler took a jet ski down the Mississippi River from Chicago to New Orleans in order to send goats to Africa for Heifer International.

Just so you know, goats did get sent to Africa and Kurt did make it New Orleans.

He did all this for his up coming CC:Studios web series Roustabout, which gets released on Jan. 26th.

It’s as epic as you’d imagine and if you don’t think so, then just watch this trailer right now.

“Birdman” and “Grand Budapest Hotel” Win, But So Does “The Lego Movie” and Jenny Slate at Critics’ Choice Movie Award

While some are still focusing extensively on the movies that got snubbed at The Oscars, The Critics’ Choice Awards definitely gave honors to some of those in that are making that snubbed list.

Birdman did take Best, Actor, Best Score, Best Editing, Best Cinematography, Best Acting Ensemble, and Best Original Screenplay and Grand Budapest Hotel took Best Comedy, Best Art Direction, and Best Costume Design as the frontrunners.

However, Jenny Slate took home the trophy for Best Actress for her performance in Obvious Child.

The Guardians of the Galaxy and The LEGO Movie also got the awards for Best Action Movie and Best Animated Movie respectively.

So, we’re glad that The Critics’ Choice Movie Awards gave some distinction to folks that otherwise would be ignored by a certain Academy.

The premiere of The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore is just on the other side of this weekend.

Mon. Jan. 19th at 11:30PM will see Wilmore take The Nightly Show desk for its inaugural spin as well as have pretty great inaugural line-up of guests. Comedian Bill Burr, Senator Cory Booker, and rapper Talib Kweli should make for a solid, varied half hour premiere.

With that many guests, we’re guessing The Nightly Show will definitely be different than The Daily Show.

“Birdman” Expands Theatrical Run and “Grand Budapest Hotel” Gets Rerelease

(via Deadline)

The dominance of Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) and The Grand Budapest Hotel this awards season has thankfully encouraged Fox Searchlight to push the two critical powerhouse films into more theaters.

Grand Budapest Hotel already had a great run in its limited theatrical run becoming the highest grossing film for Wes Anderson. With all the notoriety it has gotten over the last few weeks, it has just been rereleased into theaters in select cities including here in LA.

Birdman has just expanded to play in 450 theaters across the country and will double that on Jan. 23rd.

So, if you haven’t seen either in theaters, you’ll definitely have a chance to catch them now. Even if you’ve already caught a screening, go ahead and watch them again. They’re that good.

With FX’s very successful partnership with Louis C.K., it only makes sense that they’re continuing to double down on projects with him.

Already, they’ve ordered “Baskets” to series that has Zach Galifianakis going to pursue his dreams of being a clown.

Now, they’re going to get to show his latest stand-up special and have him also direct a comedy pilot starring Pamela Adlon. The pilot “Better Things” sounds like it will pair quite well with Louie since it follows a single mother/actress dealing with three daughters and, maybe, sex and also has Adlon who plays one of the few actually recurring characters on Louie.

We will be looking forward to all of this.

However, here’s the story of how that didn’t go exactly to plan on This Is Not Happening premiering Thurs. Jan. 22nd on Comedy Central.
