1) OK, so the Comedy Garage is coming to the UCB on July 16th; I think enough is said.

2) The Reggie Watts Show Pilot. Hopefully, it’ll stay up this time.

3) We’re leaving Portland today, but we had a great time here.  Catching No Pun Intendo at Ground Kontrol, a comedy show at a video arcade, and the Suki’s open mic only scratched Portland’s lively and growing comedy scene.  If anyone reading gets a chance to go (even if it’s not time for the Bridgetown Comedy Festival), please comedy in Portland.  Now, we’re back on our way to LA where we’re spoiled comedy wise.

4) The Everything is Festival at Cinefamily is streaming live in case you’re broke, a cheap skate, or can’t your budget approved.

5) Watch full episodes of Mystery Science Theatre 3000 because it’s not on DVD yet [via 247comedy.com]

thecomedystore:

Monday July 25, 2011 marks a special day for the Comedy Store . Writing the names of comics on the walls of The Store has always been tradition and this year we will be adding some well known names as well as some soon to be known names to our walls

Among the 20+ names being added will be Sarah Silverman, Tony Clifton, Moshe Kasher, Nick Kroll, Chelsea Peretti, Judah Friedlander, Melissa Villasenor, and long-time Comedy Store manager, Dean Gelber.

Names Night solidifies the place of honorees at The Comedy Store and is physical proof of the great efforts they have put into their careers and the art of Stand up Comedy.  Among the performing arts, only Stand up is comprised mostly of soloists, making it a unique journey of personal discovery for audiences and performers alike and it is our honor to share in this journey with such talented people.

To mark the occasion, The Comedy Store will have comics performing in the Original Room and a private reception for the honorees in the Main Room with floating photographers, food, and comic interviews.  We hope to be having some BIG guests swing by for the evening, and a few special surprises.

The reception for honorees in the Main Room that night is private, but the general public is welcome to attend the show in the Original Room for free*

Come on out for a landmark evening at The Comedy Store and join us in celebrating some incredible talent !

1) Jay Leno’s joke about Casey Anthony didn’t go well until he repeated it the 2nd time. The joke, in structure and delivery, was typical Leno monologue, but dark by his standards, especially given how little time has passed since the Anthony acquittal.  Perhaps, it would have gone better if Gilbert Gottfried had told it.

2) We concur with Witstream: Stop suckin’ Favstar’s dick.

3) Tired of reading the Papaya King Billboard on Hollywood Blvd.? Think you have something better, more clever, utilizing obscure references?  Well, now’s your chance… Submit your idea for a Papaya King billboard and it may be posted in the LA area.

Seeing her (Joan Rivers’) movie, the Piece Of Work movie, was a huge inspiration. That’s why she’s in the show. She’s not hanging on, she’s thriving. Part of the episode is her playing onstage, and she’s playing at Atlantic City, so we went down there with a small crew just to shoot some footage of her separate from the episode. We just went to see her, and I went in there, and I love Joan Rivers, I always have. But when I saw her onstage, I couldn’t believe it. She darts around, she’s got so much energy. She just kills. She’s better than me, and I’m literally close to half her age, and I can’t run around like she does. It made me want to go back to the gym before I tour again. I would love that, when all this melts away, and I’ve just got my loyal following in casinos around the country like Joan, boy, that would be a gift, just to have that.
