“ It’s the audio from my last of 3 shows that I performed at Madison Square Garden early this year.  Some of the material is in the Comedy Store Special.  Some of it isn’t.  But it’s also a fun show on it’s own.  BUT since it’s repeated material, I’m giving you the option to set your price anywhere from 1 dollar to 85.”

-e-mail from Louis C.K. for Live at Madison Square Garden

You can get your copy of the album for anywhere from $1 to $85 here and you might want to do that as we’re not sure when the next time Louis is going to do a special or when he’ll do the next season of Louie.

Review’s Forrest MacNeil Gives Joining ‘Mile High Club’ a Try

Forrest’s latest review on Review had him to get laid on an airplane while in flight as the sole requirement of joining the ‘Mile High Club’, the experience he had been asked to review.

Given everything you know about Forrest and how things usually go for him on Review, you’d know that he’ll probably be able to handle pulling this feat off.

Just watch and see what happens and if he actually gets membership to the mile high club.

“Louie” Is Going to Take Another Hiatus

(via The Hollywood Reporter)

Consider he has two other shows he’s producing, continuing to do stand-up, and probably more projects that are unannounced, it’s surprising that he doesn’t take breaks from his shows more often.

Announced at FX’s day at the TCA press tour, Louis C.K. will be taking more time off from his award winning series Louie.

As to if and when a sixth season will happen, there are no details. However, C.K. will have plenty of other stuff coming out to make up for it.

Rich Fulcher is the host of Comedy Central’s latest web series Questionable Science that sure does live up to its name.

Watch as he answers(?) questions stoners would ask in the first episode of Questionable Science here.

This is the third series that C.K. will have going on the network.

While not an actual spin-off, Better Things will follow Pamela Adlon as someone not named Pamela in the same sort of way that Louie follows C.K. though Adlon’s occupation will be acting.

With Louie, the upcoming Baskets starring Zach Galifianakis, and now Better Things, FX could have almost have Adult-Swim-like-programming block for CK produced shows.

George Clooney Will Be The First Guest on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert”

George Clooney will be my first-ever #LSSC guest on September 8th! Could one of you let him know?

The selection of a first guest, as many of you know, aids in setting the tone for your run on a late night talk show. The selection of George Clooney in the first episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert might be surprising, but we’re sure that Clooney will probably be game for whatever Colbert has cooked up come the date of the premiere on Sept. 8th.

Certainly, he’ll fare better than Eminem did on the public access show Colbert guest hosted.

FXx Orders Animated Post Apocalyptic Buddy Comedy “Cassius and Clay” Starring Kaitlin Olson, Lake Bell, and Susan Sarandon To Series

August 7, 2015
Uncategorized

(via The Hollywood Reporter)

It’s being pitched as a female-led post-apocalyptic buddy comedy a la Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid, which also makes us think of the sort of show that would have happened had Thelma and Louise survived.

FXx’s latest comedy will be the animated Cassius and Clay from Archer’s Adam Reed and Megan Ganz whose written for both Community and Modern Family with a great cast in Kaitlin Olson from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Lake Bell from Childrens Hospital, and Susan Sarandon. The three of them would be a cool bunch in a number of different scenario, but a post-apocalyptic setting should be especially fun to watch. Also, they have a guest cast that includes none other than Jeffrey Tambor and Stephen Root.

It’s set to debut sometime next year on FXx and we have yet to figure if there will be any sort of connection or reference to Muhammad Ali’s former name.

“The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” Finale Really Showcased His Legacy

August 7, 2015
Uncategorized
comedy central, finale, jon stewart, jon voyage, stephen colber, steve carell, the daily show

Instead of a cavalcade of celebrities wishing him well, Jon Stewart brought together everything that pushed The Daily Show to greatness over the last 16 and a ½ years.

Stewart had almost all the correspondents over his tenure at the show appear including Stephen Colbert, Steve Carell, Nancy Walls, Rob Corddry, Jason Jones, Samantha Bee, Rob Riggle, Kristen Schaal, Mo Rocca, Nate Corddry, Larry Wilmore, John Oliver, Aasif Mandvi, Dan Bakkedahl, Vance DeGeneres, John Hodgman, Lewis Black, Michael Che, Ed Helms, Josh Gad, Dave Atell, Olivia Munn, Hasan Minhaj, Jessica Williams, Jordan Klepper, Al Madrigal, Wyatt Cenac (it seems like they’ve made up), and future host Trevor Noah.

If you take a look at that list of names, you’ll notice that many have gone on to have their own very successful careers, often getting their very own show to host or star in that you probably watch and enjoy like The Daily Show. In fact, it’s staggering who is on the list that comprises The Daily Show with Jon Stewart alumni considering how much star power has come from just one run of one show.

Colbert is hosting The Late Show, Carell is a bonafide Hollywood star, John Oliver has gain so much critical acclaim for his show Last Week Tonight and he’s only two seasons in, Ed Helms has also become a movie star, Larry Wilmore also got his own show, The Nightly Show, Jason Jones and Samantha Bee are about to premiere their own shows at TBS, John Hodgman has written books and gotten to tour as a comedian, Dave Attell is still one of the funniest stand-ups around, Rob Corddry has Childrens Hospital, Michael Che co-anchors Weekend Update on SNL and tours as a stand-up, Josh Gad has gotten to do both Frozen and The Comedians on FX, and Kristen Schaal co-stars in Last Man on Earth and has risen up as a comedian in her own right. That’s just what we can think of just off the top of our head.

Then, Stewart featured a quick round of his detractors and their parting shots including Arbys and Bill O’Reilly. Taking on his opponents head on, unafraid what they might fire back and being able to retort wonderfully made Stewart into the cultural icon that he is.

Near the close of the finale, he imparted some words of wisdom, or rather words to restore sanity, about being vigilant in watching for bullshit. It’s a message that Stewart always pushed for in the show, no matter how far left of the aisle anyone thought he was leaning, and it’s one of the clearest reasons Jon became a force to reckon with not only in comedy, but with pretty much anything that he talked about.

Also, Jon let Stephen Colbert go off script and pour his heart out at the end of the correspondent farewell bit, even though he started to tear up. It’s that sort of vulnerability that folks connected with well over a decade and will remember for years and years to come.

You can watch the full finale here if you haven’t already.

Judd Apatow To Produce Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi’s HBO Anthology Series

Though still largely under wraps, the series that Jemaine and Taika have been working on seems to be coming together.

Similar to the way American Horror Story uses the same cast for different stories, the episodes of this series from Clement and Waititi will use the same cast for stories ranging from time travel to dance contests.

The addition of Apatow should mean that this project is picking up steam and hopefully that will bring the series to the screen relatively soon.

Funny or Die is really expanding their brand with their weatherman competition and now this Archie stage production.

Adam McKay is set to write it, while Funny or Die and Archie Comics will collaborate on the actual production at a date TBD.

McKay commented on the project, “Archie represents a bygone era of America and like all bygone eras, there are elements we miss and elements that should be bygone. This will be a musical that deals with both those realities in a bright, colorful and slightly demented way.”

So, with that in mind, you can look forward to both this Archie and A Confederacy of Dunces done live on stages in the not so distant future.

“The Daily Show” Is Planning on Going Long Tonight for Jon Stewart’s Final Episode

August 6, 2015
Uncategorized
comedy central, daily show, jon stewart

The Mets are in first place in their division, the Republican presidential candidate debates on Fox News are tonight, and Jon Stewart will unquestionably be leaving the cultural milestone he brought to prominence on the highest of high notes.

The Nightly Show has been preempted for an extra long episode (they’re going 52 min. tonight) of The Daily Show, which will be sure full of surprises, old friends, perhaps a farewell song or something of the sort all in tribute of the show’s legendary host.

Forget whatever else is on TV tonight and take a break from Netflix/Hulu/YouTube and make sure to watch the final episode of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart at 11PM on Comedy Central.

Just so you know, the debates are on at 9PM EST, so, no matter where you are, you’ll all have plenty of time to watch both things live.

The debate between the Republican presidential candidates is tonight and, as you probably well know, Donald Trump is among them. To get you ready for tonight, Late Night with Seth Meyers’ staff writer and bit player Conner O’Malley simulated what tonight’s debate might look like. Watch it here.

Looks like season 3 of Brooklyn Nine-Nine might go off the rails in the best way possible.

Spoiler alert for those who haven’t been watching Brooklyn Nine-Nine: Andre Braugher’s captain on the show took a different NYPD position and the precinct will now have a new captain in none other than Bill Hader.

Apparently, his stint there might not last the whole season, but having Bill to just kick the third season off is pretty great.

Just see what sort of trail of havoc they’re going to wreak in this season 2 trailer, then look for the premiere on Sept. 9th on FXx.

If anything, we’re glad to see that Fox is still riding high on high concept comedy after Last Man on Earth.

Grady Hendrix’s novel which centers on a large scale Ikea-esque furniture store that’s haunted is being adapted into a series with the likes of Josh Schwartz (The O.C., Chuck), Charlie Kaufman (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Being John Malkovich), and more involved.

Fox has ordered a put pilot meaning we should be able to see something of how this amalgam of genres in an atypical setting is realized. Hopefully, that’ll happen sooner rather than later.
