Tiffany Haddish, John Mulaney, Ike Barinholtz as Satan, Nick Kroll, Sarah Silverman, and more joined Seth Rogen in raising a bunch of money to fight Alzheimer’s Disease in an exclusive event.

Normally, none of us would get to watch, but this year it was taped as a special for Netflix, so we’ll get to see what happened for this annual big shindig, charity event on April 6th.

Get a taste of it with the trailer here.

This is just a friendly neighborhood reminder that just over a month from now, there will be a new hour of stand-up from John Mulaney in your lives.

Doing a special at Radio City Music Hall is almost as big as it gets and we can only wonder where Mulaney goes from here. Maybe he’ll get another show of his own again?

Annually, Seth Rogen throws a big time event to support the fight against Alzheimer’s Disease that usually costs several hundreds of dollars to attend called for Hilarity for Charity. The actual event is happening this Saturday and props to you if can afford to go.

If you can’t go and catch Sarah Silverman, John Mulaney, Kumail Nanjiani, Nick Kroll, Michael Che, The Muppets, Tiffany Haddish, Sacha Baron Cohen, Craig Robinson and the Nasty Delicious, James Corden, Michelle Wolf, Jeff Goldblum, Post Malone do something that they’ll probably do for one time only, you’ll be in luck later next month.

The event will be presented as a special on Netflix as Seth Rogen announces here. In either case, you should, if you can, support HFC’s fight against Alzheimer’s here.

Entire Monty Python Catalog Headed to Netflix

From Holy Grail to the Flying Circus to deep cuts like Eric Idle’s What About Dick? will all be coming to Netflix on April 15th.

It will probably be the freewheeling, absurdist reprieve that you might like on Tax Day, so get ready to binge a bunch of silliness in a few weeks.

James Acaster’s Netflix Special “Repertoire” to Be Released in Four Parts

UK comedian James Acaster is joining the slight uptick in trying something different in comedy specials besides just doing one hour in front of a crowd.

Seemingly inspired by the famous “stages of grief”, Acaster is doing a Netflix special in four parts, each representing a “stage of James”. Acaster himself is more than polished enough to do a traditional special, so that ought to be interesting.

See a bit of it for yourself in the trailer for Repertoire here. Then, look for it to drop on Netflix on Tuesday, March 27th.

Norm MacDonald Is Getting His Own Talk Show on Netflix

“I have a new show on @netflix and I’m tweeting the text exchange that started it all.“

-@normmacdonald

Looks Norm will actually get to make good on his Late Late Show audition (as well as stepping up his game from his own Internet talk show Norm MacDonald Live)

For those keeping score, Netflix has now/will have amassed late night/talk shows with David Letterman, Michelle Wolf, Hasan Minhaj, Joel McHale, and now, Norm MacDonald.

Netflix Orders Australian Comedy Series From Chris Lilley

10 episodes of a series from Australian comedy multi-hyphenate star Chris Lilley, the creator of Summer Heights High and Ja’mie: Private School Girl, will be coming your way soon courtesy of Netflix.

No details have been revealed as to what the show will be and what get up Lilley will be wearing this time around, but we’re sure it’ll be a delightful surprise whenever it’s announced.

As you can see, if global domination in TV comedy is Netflix’s goal, they are well on their way.

Netflix Orders Hasan Minhaj Weekly Talk Show for 32 Episodes

First off, though we think it’s long overdue, we’re so glad to finally see that Hasan Minhaj has his own show. We honestly thought that Minhaj was going to get the gig of hosting of The Daily Show if Comedy Central was going to promote internally because of how passionate and magnetic his persona is.

So, as far as late night/talk shows go, Netflix now has/will have series from David Letterman, Joel McHale, Michelle Wolf, and Hasan Minhaj. That’s a hell of a line-up that stacks up pretty well against any other network’s late night/talk show roster.

Billy Eichner Will Be Doing His Very First Stand-Up Special at Netflix

Don’t get it twisted. While it’s a stand-up special, people will still be getting “quizzed in the face”.

If you’re keeping score, Netflix has a Martin Short/Steve Martin special, their 15 minute specials, and now, a Billy Eichner special in the works. Also, we’re pretty sure that’s only the tip of the iceberg of what they’ve got planned for stand-up alone.

Steve Martin and Martin Short Are Making a Netflix Special

Just when you thought that Netflix couldn’t nab any more of comedy’s brightest stars, they will be getting a special that has yet to be taped from living comedy legends Steve Martin and Martin Short.

Short and Martin go way back and have recently gone on tour together, which was a good omen that something like a special might happen.

For those praying for a new comedy special involving Steve Martin with top billing that wasn’t a tribute some kind (i.e. Steve Martin’s Mark Twain Prize ceremony in 2005), it looks like whatever you believe in has answered your prayers.

Nicole Byer is, if we may, the icing on the cake that will make this show work. Attempts at amazing snacks and treats by non-professional bakers like you and me is a fun cooking competition format, but Byer’s energy and charm are undeniable.

See for yourself in the trailer for Nailed It.

Look for Nailed It to come out on Netflix on Friday, March 9th.

Netflix Secures Worldwide Rights to Next Four Movies from The Duplass Brothers

We wondering what The Duplass Brothers were up to after having a long dalliance with television over at HBO.

With Netflix’s ability to release a movie simultaneously in well-over 100 territories, don’t be surprised to see more and more indie auteurs, especially in the comedy space, find their way to Netflix.

By the way, one of these films includes a bromance comedy with made-up sports starring Ray Romano, which definitely has our interest peaked.

Lisa Hanawalt, producer/production designer at BoJack Horseman (and a big reason that BoJack has the wonderful look that it does) has created her own series that will be released by Netflix called, Tuca & Bertie.

The series will follow “the friendship between two 30-year-old bird women who live in the same apartment building: Tuca, a cocky, care-free toucan, and Bertie, an anxious, daydreaming songbird.” Tiffany Haddish will be voicing Tuca.

So, The Odd Couple with two bird women, one of which will be voiced by the undeniable Haddish? Count us in.

Premieres Tonight: Soft Focus with Jena Friedman, Eric Andre Does Paris, a New Season of Last Week Tonight, and The Joel McHale Show

Yes, there are a least four premieres you should be watching tonight that have nothing to do with the Winter Olympics.

Specifically, you should be checking out:

The Joel McHale Show with Joel McHale (series premiere)-Now streaming on Netflix
Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (return/season premiere)-11PM on HBO
Soft Focus with Jena Friedman (special)-12AM on Adult Swim
Eric Andre Does Paris (special)-12:15AM on Adult Swim

Nothing overlaps and all four shows will be comedically dealing with the times we’re living in wildly different approaches. That will range from thoughtful, but sharp interviews by Jena Friedman, in-depth deep dives by Oliver and his team, McHale making fun of the news that the rest of late night isn’t making fun of, and, of course, Eric Andre bugging people on the streets of Paris, France.

Michelle Wolf Is Getting Her Own Late-Night Show on Netflix

In the way that 2017 was the year of Netflix getting specials from Jerry Seinfeld, Dave Chappelle, and Amy Schumer, 2018 seems to be the year that Netflix will be getting into late night/talk shows in full force with David Letterman’s My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, The Joel McHale Show with Joel McHale, and now, a late night show from fast rising star Michelle Wolf.

Just in a few years, Wolf has hopped from Late Night with Seth Meyers to The Daily Show while propelling her stand-up career all the way to an HBO special, Nice Lady.

Exact specifics (including the show’s name) of Wolf’s show have yet to be announced, but we have a pretty good feeling that this is going to work out quite well for Michelle and Netflix.

Fred Armisen Is Doing a Netflix Comedy Special “Standup for Drummers”

Fred Armisen is taking his many comedic skills in putting them all in one comedy special, Standup for Drummers. That includes impressions, drumming, a generally asymmetrical approach to humor, regional impressions, very niche impressions that have nothing to do with regions, and repetition for comedic effect.

See for yourself in the trailer.

Standup for Drummers starts streaming on Netflix on Tuesday, Feb. 6th.

Todd Glass’ full hour special released this week is the summation of the joyful anarchy that Todd has been dealing in over the last few years. Armed with a full house band (that also is cued in on his bits and commentary on bits and accompanying course corrections on bits), Glass takes you down the rabbit hole of his comedy, which is rambunctiously fun as well as subtly illuminating about the times we live in and how comedy dissects said times.

Without further adieu, please enjoy Todd Glass’ Act Happy, now streaming on Netflix.

Netflix Announces Line-Up for “15 Minute Comedy Specials”

Netflix Announces Line-Up for “15 Minute Comedy Specials”

A 15 minute comedy special is definitely experimental in the sense that it’s longer than a late night set or even a set on one of Comedy Central’s stand-up showcase series, but it’s shorter than a half hour special. Since Netflix has been shelling out the big bucks for the big names as of the last couple years, we guess this is their way to stay connected to comedians still working their way to being a household name (and probably someone whom would have gotten an hour special from the Netflix of years past)

With that being said, we’re glad to see the line-up features plenty of folks that we’ve got to enjoy over the years and deserve the platform of Netflix to have their comedy be seen and heard including:

Aisling Bea
Michelle Buteau
Tim Dillon
JR De Guzman
Sabrina Jalees
Janelle James
Sam Jay
Josh Johnson
Ian Karmel
Jak Knight
Matteo Lane
Max Silvestri
Taylor Tomlinson
Phil Wang
Emma Willmann
Kate Willett

Tapings have yet to happen and the series isn’t named, but keep a close on eye on @netflixisajoke to see when both of those things are announced.

The Joel McHale You First Met at “The Soup” Might Be Coming Back with “The Joel McHale Show with Joel McHale” at Netflix

For several seasons, Joel McHale was dissecting pop culture at the helm of The Soup on E!

Now, he’ll get to do a very similar thing in Netflix’s new weekly topical series The Joel McHale Show with Joel McHale described as such, “The weekly half-hour series takes a sharp, absurdist look at pop culture and news from across the globe, in a fast distillation of everything people are talking about that week. It will feature celebrity guests, comedy sketches, and, of course, video clips from TV, sports, politics, celebrity culture, and every nook and cranny of the internet.”

Also, Paul Feig will be executive producing, which does have us curious how the show might possibly look and feel (we’re going to guess decidedly different than The Soup, especially from this “reveal” of their set).

They’ll definitely have to do something to stand out from a crowded topical comedy show field (Last Week Tonight, Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, Desus & Mero, The Daily Show, The Opposition, The Rundown with Robin Thede, etc. etc.)

Arguably, Tom Segura was one of the first comedians to really get catapulted into success (and rightfully so we might add) because of Netflix.

Even though Netflix has been chasing down the biggest names in comedy over the last couple of years, it is nice to see that they’re sticking by Tom as you can see in the trailer for this latest special, Disgraceful.

Look for Disgraceful to start streaming on Netflix on Friday, Jan. 12th.

At the very least, you have to appreciate the timing of Jan. 1st trailer release for a series called The End of the F**king World.

Also, this adaptation of the Charles Forsman graphic novel of the same name by Jonathan Entwhistle looks like a promising entry in one of our favorite movie genres, dark romantic comedies. Watch the trailer here.

You only have to wait until this Friday, January 5th for the series to start streaming.
