“See Jo Firestone” should be an additional definition to the word “delightful” in any and all dictionaries.

Firestone got to return to the Tonight Show stage for her second set in front of Fallon. You can’t help but smile and laugh at as well as really consider the true demographic of women’s clothing company Ann Taylor.

Enjoy Jo Firestone on The Tonight Show here.

Todd Glass Stirs Up Joyful Chaos on Kimmel (Complete with a Full Band)

Todd Glass is a master of the comedic moment. Whenever you see him perform, he knows how to cause quite the silly ruckus only to effortlessly and hilariously undercut it all with one line, getting a big laugh and applause for doing so. Additionally, Glass is funny with his bits, outside of his bits, and from almost any other angle, which is such an impressive feat unto itself.

No one does it quite like Todd and it really is a beautiful thing to watch him wrangle all of it together, especially with the dimension of him running bits with a full band that’s game for whatever he throws at them.

You can see Todd put all of this on display from his set on last night’s Jimmy Kimmel Live. Please, please enjoy it here.

We gave one of 100 best of 2019 slots to one Pedro Gonzalez because he was so damn good at crafting jokes regardless of him learning English as a second language.

Well, here’s Pedro doing just that very thing yet again on last night’s Colbert, so precise with misdirection and timing. It’s a beautiful thing to watch.

Please enjoy the set here.

Kate Willett is another one of those cases where she is so damn funny and has been for such a long time and having plenty of specials and TV sets under her belt that we kind of can’t believe this set on last night’s Colbert was her first time on network television.

Yet, here we are. So, please enjoy another round of Kate’s smart, sex positive humor right here.

Stuart Goldsmith has spent so many years over in the UK with his terrific podcast The Comedian’s Comedian that dissects the creative process of so many great comedians while also honing his own skills, that he makes quite the impressive debut with his first late night set in America.

It’s clear that he’s absorbed plenty of the knowledge and skills of the craft of comedy from the hundreds of hours he has recorded for The Comedian’s Comedian as this set is both carefully constructed, yet undeniably seamless and very fun.

So, please enjoy Stuart Goldsmith’s U.S. stand-up TV debut here.

There is a certain finesse that comes with working in the realm of dry humor. It’s akin to the artful arranging of negative space in a photograph or painting. When comedians can pull it off, it really is amazing to see how they cleverly play with that energy just like Emily Catalano did in her late night debut on Conan.

Watch and see Catalano work her wry/dry magic here.

Megan Gailey just released a great album this week, My Dad Paid For This and offered a more fine comedy wares with her set on The Tonight Show from last night.

This set is a pretty great bookend to the album as Megan demands that she be engaged on her album by the time of its release and is now, in fact, engaged. Gailey’s just a few steps ahead always.

Please enjoy the set here.

Please Enjoy’s Chris Garcia Late Night Network Debut on Corden

At this point, it’s kind of crazy that Chris Garcia hasn’t done late night until just last night. Chris has a half hour special on Comedy Central, a handful of great TV appearances, and been even featured on This American Life. All throughout those times, he has been so damn funny with his distillation of his identity as a Cuban immigrant with immigrant parents.

Still, a chance for Garcia to take the stage is one to be relished and we hope you enjoy Chris’ first (of hopefully many more) late night sets here, taped on The Late Late Show with James Corden.

The way that Jay Larson distills life into his bits and stories is a great reminder that, perhaps, we should all re-examine the way we live our lives. Please Enjoy Brooks Wheelan’s Set from Late Night with Seth Meyers

We’ve recently noticed a trend in late night stand-up sets that we’re really digging. It’s subtle and just beginning, but more and more comics seem to be free to have ad libs/asides, here and there, making their very rehearsed performance seem more alive and closer to the experience you’d get if you were to see them at a live comedy show. It’s part of what makes live comedy magical.

Part of the fun of watching Brooks Wheelan do stand-up is seeing the sheer fun he has telling jokes and stories, a lot of which has to do with the him playing with his set from moment-to-moment. That’s clearly on display in this very delightful set he just did on last night’s Late Night with Seth Meyers.

So, with all of that said, go give Brooks Wheelan’s set on Seth Meyers a watch here.

In a slick silver suit, on The Tonight Show, and executing a flawless delivery on very well crafted 5 min. set, Ryan Hamilton almost seems a throwback to the Johnny Carson’s days on the Tonight Show.

That being said, the set itself has a certain timeless quality and probably would have killed in the 70s too. See Ryan’s set from last night’s Tonight Show for yourself here.

Will Ferrell (Probably) Sets Record for Simultaneous Late Night Appearances as Ron Burgundy

August 10, 2019
Uncategorized
late night, ron burgundy, will ferrell

In order to promote season 2 of The Ron Burgundy Podcast, Will Ferrell showed up not once, twice, but five times across all of late night last night as his famed Anchorman character, Ron Burgundy.

All told, Ron performed on Conan, Colbert, Fallon, Kimmel, Corden, and Seth Meyers last night.

This is notable for a few reasons.

First, we’re pretty sure that no one else has pulled such a feat off by securing that many late night appearances in one fell swoop and having them all be on the same night (there must be a lot of coordination on wardrobe and pre-taping). Thus, it’s probably a world record.

Second, this is a testament to the power of podcasts these days as Ferrell essentially did a special’s worth of TV appearances in character with almost different, intentionally bad material all to plug the season two premiere of The Ron Burgundy Podcast. Essentially, Ferrell pulled a TV stunt like no other to promote a podcast. Wow.

Third, Burgundy has his best breakdown among these performances with this attempt at doing a ventriloquist act.
