Dark comedy, “cuddle party”, Rob Huebel, Michaela Watkins, and executive producer Jill Soloway, should, we think, be enough incentives to not only you get on board to see Matthew Irving Epstein’s film Cuddle Party, but also see it get made.

A couple whose relationship is on the rocks opt to try out a “cuddle party” and, well, it’s a dark comedy, so something insane and hilarious will happen.

Cuddle Party is seeking $35,000 in funds for production over the next 24 days. They’re at $8,020 as of this post being written.

You can hear more about it as well as what a ‘cuddle party’ is from Epstein here and you can help via donation here.

Also, to answer your question, yes, one of the rewards for donating is getting to be part of an actual cuddle party.

SNL, Last Week Tonight, Inside Amy Schumer, and Transparent make into Time.

Alongside Kanye West and Hillary Clinton, John Oliver, Lorne Michaels, Amy Schumer, and Jill Soloway are on Time’s annual list the 100 Most Influential People around the world.

Like this morning’s announcement for the Peabody Awards (where Last Week Tonight and Inside Amy Schumer also are getting honored), it’s another example where comedy is coming up in the world in a big way.

Transparent’s still picking up awards well after awards season as it should be.

At last night’s GLAAD Media Awards, Transparent got another much deserved award for Best Comedy Series. Series creator Jill Soloway has made Amazon’s run into original programming as an online streaming service much more legitimate and each win only furthers that notion.

We can only imagine that it’s onwards and upwards for the Pfeffermans, no matter what sort of mess they’re getting into.

Comedy continues to fare quite well this awards season with movies like Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) and Grand Budapest Hotel as well as shows like Transparent leading the way.

Last night The Directors Guild of America handed out their annual awards and Alejandro González Iñárritu took home the DGA Award for Feature Film and his work on Birdman while Jill Soloway took home the award for Comedy Series and her work on Transparent.

Hopefully, the ceiling for comedy getting notoriety during awards seasons is slowly cracking.

Jill Soloway who has deservedly received bushels of accolade for her Amazon series Transparent is now developing a new series that follows two women that reconnect after getting struck by lightning and their fervor for feminism.

The more intriguing thing to note about this project is that it’s going to MTV and not Amazon.

Hopefully, Soloway along with writers Lyle Friedman and Ashley Skidmore can bring the edgy, but smart comedy that MTV has tried for over the last few years (i.e Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous)

(via Deadline)

Amazon has already renewed their hit dramedy series Transparent for a second season, but creator Jill Soloway already has plans to go five seasons should the series make it that far according to a recent interview.

That’s quite a stretch for an online series, but Transparent has quite the acclaim thus far to make a go for five years.

Perhaps, there might be even more as syndication, in the traditional TV sense, isn’t quite the same with online streaming services.

Even though it’s late in the year, Jill Soloway‘s Transparent has become one of the most talked about series of 2014 and rightfully so.

Thus, it should come as no shock to any of you that Amazon has picked it up for a second season to come some time in 2015 and making it exclusive to Amazon Prime.

Let’s all hope this is the start on a path for Amazon to foster and bring in more original, great comedies, especially since there have been rumors that they’re willing to shell out the cash for them.

Amazon Studios Bringing In More Comedy By Optioning Jill Soloway Half-Hour Project

Amazon Studios is still adding more comedy programming to their line-up, though in a more traditional manner. Jill Soloway, whose first foray into features with Afternoon Delight looks promising, is developing a half-hour project that just got optioned at Amazon Studios.

It’s an intriguing move by Amazon after having all of those original pilots, developed, picked up, and green lit via open submissions and customer reviews.
