Humorist/writer/artisanal pencil sharpener David Rees is going to be the host of a brand new how-to show on National Geographic starting this July. Given how great he was at enlightening the world on how to properly sharpen a pencil, this series Going Deep should be pretty great.

Jenn Tisdale at Brightest Young Things did some wonderful legwork in finding out what comedy festivals are looking for in potential performers.
She asked the folks behind Bridgetown (Portland, OR), Women In Comedy Festival (Boston, MA), Charm City (Baltimore, MD), Comedy Exposition (Chicago, IL), Bentzen Ball (Washington D.C.), Hell Yes Fest (New Orleans, LA & Austin, TX), and Riot LA (Los Angeles, CA) and compiled this nice article of their answers and explanations at the link.
The very funny Grant Lyon recently performed to one of the worst audience members we’ve seen in a while. A low level professional wrestler kept heckling during the whole show, even though Grant seemed to have the room with him, which is already pretty bad. But, at one point, the guy came on stage and kneed Grant in the balls. Grant stood his ground, but the idea that he had to is absolutely ludicrous.
If this is your idea of “helping out a show”, go make a web series with your camera to get your egregious need to feed your ego.
One of our favorite web series of all time is Henry’s Kitchen, the cooking (?) show hosted by Henry Phillips has a new episode with a perfect (?) dish for your Superbowl party.
This is just more proof that Conan O’Brien can single handedly make something hysterical out of any given situation.

Perhaps one of the weirdest, best food demonstration ever to be on a late night talk show will have to be Amy Sedaris showing Jimmy Fallon how the propmaster on The Heart, She Holler makes edible cat poop because that’s what her character has to do.

Over the last couple of weeks, three articles have specifically stuck out to us in that they address very important issues in comedy that rarely get talked about. It has nothing to really do with joke thievery or rape jokes or the normal stuff you see politically correct inspired blogs get outraged over, but how to not have your corporate gig go awry or how to not let the bitterness get the best of you as a comedian are definitely topics in comedy that need discussing.

While Thing X was transitioning to Adult Swim, we were a little worried that the depressed life advice of Matt Beacon might get lost in the shuffle, but, fortunately, there’s a brand new episode of how to do things if the overbearing weight of all of your failures permeates every waking minute like just selling old stuff on eBay.
