Jena Friedman was already one of the most crucial voices in comedy, dedicating her needle-sharp material to topics and issues that have only become more pressing over the last few weeks. When it comes to the agency and freedom of women, Jena stands tall with some of the best, dark jokes being told on stages today or on her series, Soft Focus or Indefensible.

So, Jena is taping an hour special, Ladykiller, next week for Peacock that will be a great, long-awaited follow-up to American C*nt. There will be two tapings on Fri. Jul. 15th at 7PM ET & 9PM ET at the Music Hall of Williamsburg. It’s free to attend so long as you’re fully vaccinated. Go reserve tickets here.

Comedy Central is doing more rounds of their digital stand-up showcase Comedy Central Stand-Up Featuring, which highlights nice and tight sets of folks that you both, hopefully, already know and love as well as some newcomers that you absolutely should know (lord knows that we’ve sang the praises of almost all of these four line-ups.

It’s free so long as you RSVP.

Natalie Palamides has really pushed herself to new thrilling and hysterical territory with her solo show, NATE. Audiences and critics around the world (including some of the most prestigious comedy and performance festivals) agree in being awestruck with Natalie’s work here where she satirizes masculinity in such a daring way.

Also, one Amy Poehler feels similarly and, as such, will be presenting NATE to the world as a live comedy special that will tape next month, Fri. Aug. 9th, at the Los Angeles Theatre Center in DTLA. There will be two tapings, 7PM and 9:30PM, and you can (and very, very much should) RSVP for FREE tickets here.

Interestingly, all of these comedians have done specials. A few of them have even done entire hour comedy specials on television already and are now doing half-hour specials on Netflix.

As the streaming service giant wheels and deals in Seinfelds, Rocks, and Chappelles, it’s pretty clear that Netflix has reorganized the pecking order in who gets what when it comes to their comedy specials.

Rest assured, the talent is clearly stacked here with Aparna, Kinane, Feinstein, Morin, Yashere, and List and you ought to go to the tapings happening on Sunday, November 5th and Monday, November 6th at Globe Theater in DTLA (RSVP for free tickets here).

Comedy Central Announces 2017 Half Hour Specials Line-Up, To Call It “Comedy Central Stand-Up Presents” Instead of “The Half Hour”

Those are the 14 names that will get to do a half hour Comedy Central special that will be now called “Comedy Central Stand-Up Presents” later this Fall. If you take a closer look, this might be CC’s best, most diverse half-hour line-up yet (i.e. it’s mostly fantastic comics that aren’t straight white guys)

Kind of harkens back to the days of when Comedy Central had “Comedy Central Presents”, doesn’t it?

The tapings will take place next month, Wednesday, April 19th-Saturday, April 22nd, in New Orleans at The Civic Theatre. You can get free tickets here.
