Pick of the Day: Wolves of Glendale (in NYC) 8/31

The abject absurdity of this world, sometimes, is best coped with by meeting it with some concentrated, even more obtuse absurdity. Melodies and harmonies with a catchy beat doesn’t hurt either.

That’s where you’ll want to tune into the Wolves of Glendale, a newly minted musical comedy trio of Ethan Edenburg, Eric Jackowitz, and Tom McGovern. Their songs are a hysterical reflection of a time so ridiculous that is virtually without precedent within our lifetimes. As perhaps alluded to above, they sure can get your toe tapping with whatever they’re playing.

Most recently, you’ve might have seen them on one of the literally big stages at Netflix Is a Joke Fest, which is saying something considering they were a band only formed earlier this year and, as such, you shouldn’t miss their exclusive night at Caroline’s on Broadway in NYC at the end of the month.

Ethan, Eric, and Tom will take the stage as The Wolves of Glendale on Wed. Aug. 31st at 7PM ET, which will be quite the amazing setting to see them (you’ll probably never see live music as intimately as in a comedy club). Tickets are $20 (plus a 2 drink min.) and you really ought to get your tickets here now.

Pick of the Day: The Cooties (in LA) 12/3

When it comes to musical comedy, especially in LA, it’s harder to have much more fun than you can have with the sweet harmonies and pure absurdity of The Cooties. Ethan Edenburg, Eric Jackowitz, and Jacob Jeffries together make up for such a subversive power pop trio that we’ve enjoyed so thoroughly throughout the years, whether it be on stage or when going through their music video collection for the umpteenth time.

Thank goodness that they’ve got an in-person performance lined-up this very week that you can catch over at Tom Bergin’s Public House on Fairfax where they’ve hand a solid Thursday stand-up show for just over a year now.

Tickets are only $5 and we strongly believe it might be one of the best ways to spend your Friday night this week. Go get your tickets right here right now.

When it comes to poking fun at LA in a song, The Cooties, current Angelenos themselves, nail so much of the Los Angeles milieu in a pretty undeniably funny tune, The L.A. Song.

JASH made a wonderfully animated music video that accompanies every single lyric quite nicely. Watch it here.

One of our favorite musical comedy acts (they made our best 100 list), The Cooties, have their first show of 2017 lined-up for this Saturday, January 14th at UCB Sunset at 10:30PM. Their satirical power pop is to not be missed and they’ll have the great absurdist stylings of Ian Abramson joining them too.

Tickets are $7 and you can (and should) get them here.

Please Enjoy the Grade A Silliness of The Cooties’ Pilot Dad Friends

The rumors are true. There is stuff that you should watch on go90.

The Cooties are definitely one of favorite things that we found out about in 2016. Their absurdist songs strike a great balance of being solid pop music while being almost completely out-of-left-field with their lyrics.

Recently, they got a chance to make a TV pilot with JASH through Verizon’s go90 and got the free reign to really go to the nth degree with pure, uncut, silly brand of comedy.

The result is Dad Friends and you should watch it as soon as you can.
