Comedy Central Following Louis C.K. Model by Offering Specials Online for $5
Comedy Central is putting up stand-up specials from Anthony Jeselnik, John Mulaney, Pete Holmes, and more for only $5 online following the precedent that Louis CK has set with how he distributes his specials (this is more proof of why he’s deserving for winning a Webby Person of the Year Award).
This should be a nice treat for comedy nerds that need to round out their collections, but we wonder if this will attract casual comedy fans into more stand-up.
Comedy Central Set to Roast James Franco Instead of Someone They Kind of Despise
It’s nice to see Comedy Central finally have someone that isn’t the butt of some type of joke cracked every few minutes somewhere in the world to be the target for one of their roasts.
Possibly, they might be, in the traditional comedy roast sense, honoring James Franco, though we’re sure this will be like a run through of Franco jokes if there ever was a This Is The End sequel.
We’ve been waiting for this day, the day that Drunk History would premiere as a TV show on air as well as another season of The Jeselnik Offensive, for awhile now.

The Jeselnik Offensive Tapings Start Back Up This Week
The second season of The Jeselnik Offensive is coming soon to Comedy Central, which means the tapings are happening very soon. In fact, they’re staring back up weekly tomorrow July 3rd and are free to attend with RSVP at Hollywood Center Studios.
So far, you can catch Joan Rivers, TJ Miller, Marc Maron, Eric Andre, John Mulaney, Pete Holmes, Kumail Nanjiani, and more as guests and we don’t think you’ll want to miss out on that.
One of the original and one of the best narrators on one of our favorite series Drunk History, coming very soon to Comedy Central (next week on July 9th in fact), is Jen Kirkman. As the premiere of the show on TV is just around the corner, there are previews to watch and thankfully there’s this latest one of Kirkman trying to tell the story of unjustly hung Quaker Mary Dyer played by Winona Ryder.
Kumail Nanjiani will have his first 1 hour stand up special on Comedy Central July 20th at Midnight, “Beta Male”. A CD/DVD of the whole thing, extended and uncensored of course, will be available the following Tuesday, July 23rd.
Our advice: Get in on both.
The latest story in the This Is Not Happening series over at CC:Studios follows Julia Lillis trying to do in real life what usually only happens in romantic comedies by flying across the planet to be with the one you love. Unfortunately, unlike a romantic comedy, you might get detained for several hours by immigration.
Maria Bamford Releasing Comedy Central Album “Ask Me About My New God!”
It’s a brand new performance of much of her Special Special Special, but it’s not just her parents in the audience this time around.
Ask Me About My New God! comes out July 16th on Comedy Central Records and for how amazing the Special Special Special was, we can’t wait for this.

Comedy Central, if you haven’t picked up on it yet, likes to tease the first episode of their new series a couple of weeks before the premiere. It just so happens that today is that day for the highly anticipated, upcoming Drunk History created by Derek Waters.

Also, Kumail Nanjiani is hilarious and you should catch his hour Comedy Central special next month.
We’re unsure if you’ve been keeping up with Comedy Central’s latest round of comedy specials on The Half Hour, but definitely tune in tonight for two, in our opinion, of the funniest stand-ups working today in Sean Patton and Baron Vaughn.

‘Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail’ Gets Series Order From Comedy Central
In case it’s not obvious, this is fantastic news. Congratulations on one of the best live shows in LA becoming a TV show. We’re also glad to hear that it will still be taped at Nerdmelt.
This is definitely a great move on Comedy Central’s part with the ever burgeoning world of comedy on TV with IFC, FXx, TBS, and more.
Chris Hardwick’s @Midnight Getting Go Soon/Doing Test Shows Next Week
Joining in the post midnight TV arena, Comedy Central’s Chris Hardwick hosted show, now called @Midnight, is getting closer to following The Daily Show & The Colbert Report. According to this tweet, Hardwick is doing test shows at the Nerdmelt Showroom starting next week.
We wonder if this will mean Chris could be on multiple broadcast channels all at once?
Tonight at 10PM on Comedy Central, Futurama returns with two brand new episodes perfectly timed to not be, whether you’re a NBA fan or not, to not have to decide between this and Game 7 of the Finals.
The latest episode of CC:Studios storytelling web series This Is Not Happening with Ari Shaffir has the hysterical Sean Patton recount the story of how he got assaulted by a gay basher even though he’s straight.
Trust us. You’re going to want to set aside a solid 12 minutes for the entire astounding story.
Just in case you forgot, another beloved series raised from the dead is coming back to screens everywhere soon. New episodes of Futurama will start airing on Wed. Jun. 19th 10PM at Comedy Central.

Reggie Watts Cast in Comedy Central Pilot ‘Bad Advice From My Brother’ Pilot
Already being on Comedy Bang Bang coming out this Summer, here’s another chance for us to see the amazing Reggie Watts on TV. Well, if you’re in Australia or the UK, you’ve probably seen him doing Set List, but we hope we can all see more of Reggie on television/tele.
One of our favorite things that we’ve seen this year is The Walsh Brothers’ Great and Secret Comedy Show over at CC:Studios. Even with three episodes, it’s made us laugh pretty damn hard which is why we’re glad that there will be more episodes coming soon according to our sources.

Last night, John Oliver took his role of filling in for Jon Stewart at the host’s desk of The Daily Show and, as you’d expect, he’s going to fit in quite nicely.
We’re happy to see that brother comedy duo The Lucas Brothers got a series over at CC:Studios so they could call it The Super Late Morning Show and do stuff like play their mixtape made that day to people on the street that might find it a little disturbing.
Over this last week or so, Comedy Central has introduced some exciting new innovations to their online presence including a stand-up mobile app where you can not only watch an entire archive of Comedy Central stand-up clips, but discover new comedians that you might like and having Comedy Central content, episodes and more available on Amazon Prime. There’s even a fun video on the stand up mobile app with Jared Logan showing you how to use it.
We’re curious to see if people will find out someone like Chris Rock through the app.

Based off this cast list, we very well may see Aubrey Plaza mime the words of Kyle Kinane in the drunk retelling of The Haymarket Riot. We cannot wait for July 9th when Drunk History premieres on Comedy Central.
CC:Studios has started off another great web series in This Is Not Happening featuring comedians telling stories of things going more than a little wrong. Hosted by Ari Shaffir, they’re set to come out every Tuesday, which you should look forward to based of the first episode with TJ Miller and his night of seizures and brain hemorrhaging.

Comedy Central Also Premiering “Drunk History” on July 9th
Coupled with today’s news of John Oliver’s NY Stand Up Show coming back at the end of July, Drunk History the TV series finally making it to air on Tues. July 9th has made this quite the day for Comedy Central.
