The Chris Gethard Show LIVE Returns Tonight on TruTV (Even Though Gethard Received a Jury Summons Last Week)

Chris Gethard, more so than any other late night host, is willing take risks. That includes letting his production staff shoot footage of him opening a jury summons less than a week before the return of The Chris Gethard Show LIVE tonight on TruTV.

That’s only on one reason why you should be watching TCGS. Seriously, catch it at 11PM tonight.

This Season of The Chris Gethard Show Will Get 10 More Episodes in Spring 2018 on TruTV

Or, as Gethard tweeted “The #ChrisGethardShow ’s inaugural season on @truTV has been extended by ten more episodes. Thanks to everyone who supports this show and refuses to let this ramshackle dream die.”

We like where TruTV is doubling down on their money.

You can watch The Chris Gethard Election Day Special right here right now.

As part of making the rounds for his off-Broadway show, Career Suicide, Chris Gethard got to come on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

Sadness and laughing about it threads through the interview while talking about Gethard’s Chris Gethard Show and this new solo show.

Also, it turns out Colbert and Gethard share in, albeit from different angles, one important, very specific sort of anxiety.

Watch the interview here.

Chris Gethard Really Wants to Be Kelly Ripa’s Sidekick on “Live!”

This is not some dumb alt comedy stunt. I. Want. To. Be. @KellyRipa ’s. Sidekick. For. Real. So. Bad. Dream job. #KellyAndGethard

–@chrisgethard

Since the very sudden and public departure of Michael Strahan from Live! with Kelly and MIchael, there has been a void in the realm of morning television programming. There are rumors of names of who might sit beside Kelly Ripa going forward.

One of the more surprising names is Chris Gethard, host of the forward thinking talk show The Chris Gethard Show. Chris has opted to toss his own name in the hat for consideration.

In fact, earlier this week, Gethard typed out and posted the following in order to make his case to be a sidekick to Kelly Ripa.

*probably should say “now married”

No word has been given about where Gethard stands in the running to replace Strahan or how this would affect The Chris Gethard Show if he got the gig, but #KellyandGethard would likely bring a bunch of generations together that wouldn’t otherwise watch the same morning TV.

Chris Gethard Tries to Learn How to Make ‘Real’ TV by Interning at Full Frontal with Samantha Bee

The Chris Gethard Show does things as differently as you can on television. From their set to the format of the show itself, Gethard bucks tradition on so many levels.

So, for his own reference, he tries looking into how a more normal television program is run through interning for a day at Full Frontal with Samantha Bee. Gethard finds out some shocking revelations in his time there in addition to finding out how awkward of an intern he is.

Connor Ratliff Has to Eat Vegetables, Which He Absolutely Loathes, in Order to Interview Tony Hale

Even the most stubborn of kids might not hate eating vegetables quite like Connor Ratliff does. In Connor’s case, he’s a full grown adult and no one can tell him to eat his veggies or else.

Well, we guess his boss, Chris Gethard, can do that as a condition of interviewing one of Ratliff’s heroes, Tony Hale.

That’s exactly what happened and it’s even more surprising how much Connor can’t stand one of the most important parts of the food pyramid.

“The Chris Gethard Show” Upped to an Hour and Picked Up for Second Season at Fusion

Ok 2016, keep it up.

Announced today, Chris Gethard and company have not only gotten a whole new batch of 10 episodes of The Chris Gethard Show ordered at Fusion, but they’ve got bumped up to a whole hour of airtime from the half-hour that they got in their first season.

This upgraded second season of The Chris Gethard Show is set to premiere this Spring and we can’t wait to see what crazy stuff Gethard will have up his sleeve and/or try to pull off and/or be completely blindsided by thanks to his staff now that they have an entire hour.

Connor Ratliff & Mikey Erg Made a Great Album to Accompany Holiday Season, Especially If You Don’t Like Getting Religious About It

Connor Ratliff, who you’ve probably seen on The Chris Gethard Show or the great web series I’m Too Fragile For This, teamed up with another TCGS alum, Mikey Erg to make a collection of holiday music that isn’t worn down by religious traditions that come around this time of year, but is still very festive.

So, that project turned into a whole album, well a sort of a novella of an album as there are 8 songs spanning 12 minutes.

Still, The Spirit of Ratliff is pretty great and really hits a sweet spot of endearing and funny without going overboard like so much holiday music does. “No One Wants a Pizza on Christmas Day” is a perfect example of how Ratliff and Erg pull that off.

You can get Spirit of Ratliff off of Bandcamp for $7 and you should know that it’s actually a soundtrack to what will be an upcoming Xmas special with Connor.

Get a taste of that with the music video for XMAS is the BEST.

The mystery cable network that might have just won the comedy lottery for The Chris Gethard Show is Fusion.

Last year, Gethard announced that he and his show were going to a cable network, though he wouldn’t say which one.

Now, Fusion has brought him into their fold, which is getting more and more impressive comedy-wise. No, You Shut Up! with Paul F. Tompkins, a docu-comedy special from Al Madrigal, and now, The Chris Gethard Show.

Gethard details more on the move from MNN to Fusion at Splitsider.

The Chris Gethard Show To Continue Even Though Comedy Central Has Passed On It

Comedy Central has passed on picking up The Chris Gethard Show to series. This is unfortunate as we perhaps won’t get to see what TCGS did for a pilot, but Gethard says that other networks are interested and that “TCGS will end not when someone drops an axe on us, but when we want it to end. We will bring it to its conclusion on our own terms, the same way we’ve done every other step of this process.”

So despite the possibility of The Chris Gethard Show ending if it didn’t get picked up, we’re happy to hear that Gethard got his public access show made into a cable network pilot and especially that TCGS “…ain’t dead yet”

The Chris Gethard Show Will Return to Public Access in April Awaiting Decision From Comedy Central

The Chris Gethard Show has taped its pilot for Comedy Central and is now awaiting the final call from network brass as to whether to give the series a greenlight or not.

You’ll be happy to know that, in the interim, TCGS will return to doing regularly scheduled episodes on public access starting in April. Hopefully, they get the greenlight and there won’t be too much more gaps in not having new Gethard to watch.

The Chris Gethard Show Coming to The Bay Area To Put on Better Winter Olympics

Chris Gethard and company are coming to the West Coast finally and will be putting on their shenanigans Feb. 8th at the Eureka Theater after the start of The Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.

They promise a much better, more entertaining version of The Olympics and we have no doubt that Gethard will succeed.

There is no “if” to qualify here; just go.

Details on The Chris Gethard Show Pilot for Comedy Central

A Q&A with Chris Gethard and company revealed some key details on the upcoming Comedy Central pilot for The Chris Gethard Show including the fact that he would love to fight Pete Holmes, it will be a half hour, it won’t be taped at MNN, show would hopefully air live, if the pilot isn’t picked up, then they’ll apparently wrap up TCGS for good, and more.

So, let’s cross our fingers or indulge whatever ritual you think maybe works to get this on the air (or if you’re a Comedy Central exec reading this, just make the appropriate call after the pilot to make sure it goes to series so The Chris Gethard Show can live on).
