Dark Dystopian Romantic Comedy “The Lobster” Set for May 24th Release

Perhaps it would have been perfect if it was released on Valentine’s Day, but we’re just glad that it’s getting a U.S. release soon.

The Lobster has Colin Farrell and Rachel Weisz in a dystopian future where he has to find a significant other within a small amount of time or he’ll turn into an animal, albeit, one of his choosing.

If that doesn’t already have you at least intrigued, here’s the trailer.

Hooked? Great. Mark your calendar for A24′s May 13th release date.

“Morris From America” and “Tallulah” Already Bought Up at Sundance

Coming of age and dramedies are still going strong at Sundance.

Two of the first buys for comedy come from A24 and Netflix of Morris From America and Tallulah, respectively.

Morris From America, directed by Chad Hartigan, follows Markees Christmas (yes, the one from Channel 101′s Markees Saves) and Craig Robinson being transplanted to Germany and having to deal with adolescence overseas.

Tallulah from Sian Heder, which Netflix acquired the rights to before Sundance began, follows Ellen Page taking a baby from a bad mother.

While this sounds like in the ball park of last year’s Sundance fare, we hope that their fates in the box office, when released, are much different (i.e. better).

Noah Baumbach brought us the wonderful Frances Ha latest year and on Mar. 27th 2015, he’s got another wry, though, possibly his most playful, comedy with his latest film While We’re Young coming out.

Ben Stiller and Naomi Watts play a middle-aged couple that starts hanging out with a couple in their 20s, Adam Driver and Amanda Seyfried, which should make for some nice cross generational humor.

Watch the trailer here.

Obvious Child Starring Jenny Slate Acquired by The Exchange & A24

We had a good feeling about Obvious Child directed by Gillian Robespierre that is faring quite well at Sundance when we saw the Kickstarter for finishing funds months ago.

Thanks to The Exchange and A24, the whole world will potentially see the release of a film starring the amazing Jenny Slate playing a stand up comedian in Brooklyn also featuring Gabe Liedman and Gaby Hoffman.

Rest assured, we’ll be looking for a release date like the rest of you.
