Our favorite person to prowl the streets of NYC, Billy Eichner, and inject his pop culture preferences via quiz or straight up aggressive questioning, often with a celebrity guest in tow, is back for his fourth season tonight.

Vimeo Announces an Aidy Bryant Short Film and a Stand Up Special from Bianca Del Rio on Its Original Programming Slate

Amidst the din of online content, Vimeo, where High Maintenance got found, is getting its content wheels turning.

SNL’s Aidy Bryant will be writing and starring in a surreal short film where she works in a fabric store and is dreaming of finding love.  Drag queen and comedian Bianca Del Rio is also getting a stand-up special, which will be a first for Vimeo as well.

Given the company’s penchant for top shelf content, we’re really curious to see what they got cooking.

Here’s a Trailer for Anthony Jeselnik’s Latest Special “Thoughts and Prayers” Coming to Netflix Next Week

For his latest hour special, Anthony Jeselnik decided to test himself by taping it in a very politically correct town like San Francisco. Having seen Jeselnik alive, well, and still toeing the line with his villainously clever material after he finished the taping, we’re thinking that it went pretty well.

You can see for yourself in a trailer for Thoughts and Prayers here, then, in full, on Netflix on Oct. 16th.

Jack Black Is Back Developing a Comedy Following a Struggling Musician with Dwight Yoakam at Fox

In case you don’t remember, Tenacious D was once a great series about a struggling rock duo.

Jack Black seems to be at his best when comedy and music are intertwined in whatever he’s working on like Tenacious D or Festival Supreme.

That’s why we’re glad to hear his latest project is a single camera comedy at Fox that he’s working on with Dwight Yoakam, an accomplished country musician who had a pretty great turn as a doctor in Crank.

Written by Alex McAulay and called Belles and Whistles, it’ll follow a dad moving to Nashville to be a country star.

We’re definitely excited about the possibilities here as something that’s plenty of parts Tenacious D the series with a tad of Nashville could be what’s happening here.

If there was a dire time that would drive dissimilar roommates into the same living situation, it would probably be now.

Greg Barris and Bridey Elliott end up in such a situation where they’re different genders and vastly different in age in their new web series, aptly named Roommates.

Watch the first episode here and see how you can see how they’d be the more true-to-life, modern update of The Odd Couple.

Have you been missing The Coen Brothers’ more humorous side as of late?

If so, you’ll been happy to know that their wonderfully dry comedy streak seems to run all through the trailer of their latest offering, “Hail, Caesar!”.

Boasting a stellar cast of Josh Brolin, George Clooney, Scarlett Johansson, Tilda Swinton, Ralph Fiennes, Channing Tatum, and Jonah Hill as well as lavishly done up set pieces of Hollywood’s classic Golden Age, Hail, Caesar! looks to be everything we were hoping it would be.

Watch the trailer here.

Rich Fulcher Narrates Bobby Fischer vs. Boris Spassky for “Drunk History”

October 9, 2015
Uncategorized

The story of chess prodigy Bobby Fischer playing against Russian chess champion Boris Spassky is already incredulous without embellishment, especially the type coming from a person who is under the influence of some substance.

So, it only stands to reason that a silly, drunk Rich Fulcher would tell one of the best versions of the story accompanied by Taran Killam as Bobby Fischer and Jake Johnson as Boris Spassky while he seems like one of the drunker narrators that has been on Drunk History. This should serve as a great appetizer or dessert for watching Pawn Sacrifice.

Watch how Fischer beat the Russian chess grandmaster as well as how Rich made it through the story.

Rather than being vague when looking to be someone’s roommate only to find out that you weren’t compatible later, it sometimes pays to be honest upfront when you’re going to live with someone you’ve never met before.

The Best of Craigslist at The Bew found a guy, reenacted by John Pick, who was maybe a little too forthcoming with his ad.

NBC Is Developing a Wendy Davis Inspired Comedy

October 9, 2015
Uncategorized

(via Deadline)

We’d like to think that a sitcom based on a former Texas senator that famously filibustered in a dress and running shoes against a bill introducing restrictions on abortions is kind of what Leslie Knope would have been up to before the finale of Parks and Recreation.

Thankfully, the story of Wendy Davis will not fall victim to the 24 hours news cycle. A sitcom is being developed at NBC based on her going to work at a law firm after losing in a race for governor with no reelection and her agenda completely in mind. Jennifer Cecil is writing the project, which definitely seems to up the profile of NBC’s comedy development slate.

Watch Season 2 Trailer for Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney’s “Catastrophe”

You’re The Worst and Catastrophe seem to be leading the charge in a whole a new era of romantic comedy and, as such, plenty of folks can’t wait for more.

A second season of Catastrophe is already on its way in the UK on Channel 4, set for premiere on Oct. 27th in fact. A corresponding U.S. release date, presumably on Amazon has yet to be announced.

Still, you can get a pretty great taste of the adult mischief of Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney in this trailer.

With SNL, musical specials, and now Undateable, NBC is really going for broke with these live-to-air shows.

Tonight at 8PM, things might just go really off the rails in a great way on NBC as the cast of Undateable, which includes the likes of Ron Funches, Brent Morin, Rick Glassman, Chris D’Elia, Bianca Kajlich, and David Fynn, embarks on its 3rd season completely live.

Hopefully, the cast, most of which are stand-ups, will get to get as weird as they want.

Mary Mack’s Fantastic “Pig Woman” Out Now

It’s almost as if Mary Mack has rose colored glasses that have been well worn with her latest album, Pig Woman. She maintains an undeniable joy in the face of what’s really going on in her life, which approximates to a sort of down-to-earth, Midwestern zeitgeist. It’s especially mischievous and fun when she gets almost too cozy, as opposed to traditional crowd work, with the crowd.

The whole album is a true joy to listen to and is funny no matter if you’re a city slicker or if you’re a woodland person like Mary.

Last night, James Corden came on as a guest to The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and, with his suit color coordinated with Stephen Colbert’s, they belted out an appropriate tune, “Me & My Shadow,” together with Jon Batiste and Stay Human backing them.

It looks like CBS’ late night line-up has quite the pipes, not to mention just enough retooling of the traditional late night format to keep late night talk shows going for several more years.
