Satirical War Comedy “War Machine” Starring Brad Pitt Headed to Netflix

(via Deadline)

You knew that Netflix was going to get into features and this is a pretty good way to start.

Based on the book The Operators: The Wild and Terrifying Inside Story of America’s War In Afghanistan by Michael Hastings, Brad Pitt will star in War Machine as a General that takes after real life former Gen. Stanley McChrystal. As it will be written and directed by David Michod whose resume includes such dark dramas like The Rover, you can expect this to go stark and dark with its comedy.

Netflix will distribute the movie in 2016 after its theatrical run. By that time, we wonder if more war and comedy will continue to cross paths like they have with The Brink and Aloha.

Now, it’s going to get a second season at Comedy Central and we’ll get to enjoy diving into the unbelievable things that comedians get themselves into.

Now, begin the countdown to the next All-Nighter…

It’s going to be even more “supremer”?

Tenacious D is having their 3rd Festival Supreme on Oct. 10th back at the Shine Expo Hall & Fairgrounds near USC.

Just from the looks of the line-up, Jack and Kyle are making for one hell of a day of music and comedy.

So far, they’ve got for comedy:
Kids In the Hall
Amy Poehler
Tim Minchin
Jenny Slate
Aubrey Plaza
Good Neighbor
The original cast of Mystery Science Theater 3000
Nick Thune
Super Dave Osborne (Bob Einstein)
DJ Douggpound
Neil Hamburger
Finesse Mitchell
Kristen Schaal
Charlyne Yi
Adam Devine
The Lampshades
Toby Huss

Harmontown Live with Dan Harmon

and for music:

Big Freedia
The Darkness
Puddles Pity Party
Andrew W.K.

Whether they’ll have some sort of haunted house and other fun surprises has yet to be announced, but we’re sure with several months out before the big day, Jack and Kyle will have something else big up their sleeve besides this stacked line-up.

If you want to get in on the action, make sure to get your tickets on Jun. 11th here.

Titmouse Animation Is Making a “Three Stooges” Animated Series

June 9, 2015
Uncategorized

(via The Hollywood Reporter)

While you might have been let down by the recent feature adaptations, Titmouse Animation might be the ones to put your faith back in the classic comedy institution that is The Three Stooges.

The animation studio that brings you many of Adult Swim’s cartoons including China, IL, The Venture Bros., Superjail!, and Metalocalypse will be taking a crack at The Three Stooges and, we think, will probably translate them for modern audiences quite well.

They’ll be making 52 eleven minute episodes, so there will be plenty to binge watch when they get released.

James Corden Engages in Competitive Nuzzle Guessing with Nick Offerman, Ellie Kemper, and Thomas Middleditch

You didn’t read that wrong. Two people nuzzle something while blindfolded to see who can guess what it is first.

Not only were the things that Corden, Offerman, Kemper, and Middleditch were nuzzling fun and definitely not for the very easily squeamish, but Reggie Watts got to act as the very serious referee as well for Nuzzle Waaa?.

This definitely raises the stakes as far as late night talk show games go.

Watch it here from last night’s Late Late Show.

Bob’s Burgers’ Wendy and Lizzie Molyneux Will Also Be Writing a Script for Female-Led “21 Jump Street”

Apparently, Paulilu and the Molyneux sisters are writing different versions of the same movie.

Wendy and Lizzie Molyneux have gotten Sony to buy their pitch for the female led version 21 Jump Street. Paul W. Downs and Lucia Aniello were already working on a script, but now the two pairs will be writing different scripts based on the pitches they sold.

There are no other details than that available at this time, but we wouldn’t be surprised if either movie is made, then the script for the other gets released online and people demand to see that one also get made.

Danny McBride and Jody Hill Are At It Again With “Legacy of a Whitetail Deer Hunter”

They’ve teamed up for Foot Fist Way, Eastbound and Down, Vice Principals, and now, this.

Jody Hill and Danny McBride, the minds and talent behind the man myth that is Kenny Powers are collaborating yet again on a new feature project along with Josh Brolin attached and Scott Rudin producing. Other than those details and that Hill is directing and co-wrote the script with McBride and frequent collaborator John Carcieri, we only know that this project will be called Legacy of a Whitetail Deer Hunter.

Our guess would be that it might be in the realm of Talladega Nights and Eastbound, but focusing on McBride as a hilariously foul-mouthed bad-ass hunter trying to cement his hunting legacy.

Hopefully, we’ll find out the exact details soon.

Actually, we don’t know if there’s a really universally good way to break up with someone, but it’s still pretty fun to watch Thomas Middleditch “reenact” a break-up with Alexi Wasser on her show Alexi on Bed.

(via Variety)

For those of you watching TV when late night turns into early morning, be delightfully surprised to know that Tom Shillue will take over what used to be Greg Gutfeld’s job at Fox News.

Red Eye is a 3AM panel debate show on Fox News that’s supposed to have a comedic bent (Scott Aukerman even got into the mix on an episode) and has been hosted by TV personality Gutfeld.

Now, as Greg Gutfeld has his own show, The Greg Gutfeld Show on Fox News, the powers that be at the network have gotten veteran comedian and storyteller Tom Shillue to host Red Eye, which should be much more palatable to a wider range of folks so long as there up at 3AM or there will be easy to find clips on YouTube.

We’ll all get to see Shillue start the gig sometime this month.

More Psychics Should Take Cues From Reggie Watts Being a Psychic on “The Late Late Show”

On last night’s Late Late Show with James Corden, bandleader Reggie Watts switched hats to be a psychic for random audience members.

With a full band and singing his predictions, you’d probably not care that your psychic reading included a bunch of generalizations and guessing. Hopefully, your next psychic reading will be so musical and enthralling.

Watch it here.
