Quentin Dupieux’s “Wrong Cops” Is Out Next Week

December 22, 2013
Uncategorized
cinefamily, mr oizo, quentin dupieux, wrong, wrong cops

One of our absolute favorite movies from last year was Quentin Dupieux’s absurdist delight Wrong. In how purely silly and non-sensical it is, Dupieux, for our money, brought substance out of unfiltered fun.

His follow up to Wrong, Wrong Cops is right along the same track in it’s dedication to a brilliantly ludicrous sensibility with the likes of Arden Myrin, Eric Wareheim, Steve Little, Marilyn Manson, and one hell of a performance from Mark Burnham as an asshole cop obsessed with cutting edge European techno.

Watch the trailer here and then make sure to go see it at Cinefamily or The Downtown Independent here in LA next week or at a location near you soon.

IFC Head Of Original Programming Debbie DeMontreux Has Left IFC

Responsible for bringing much of what you love on IFC currently to IFC, including Portlandia and The Birthday Boys, Debbie DeMontreux has been an instrumental part in seemingly rebranding IFC as a comedy channel.

Now that she is gone from IFC and IFC is looking for a replacement, we can only guess where their programming slate will be headed next.

There aren’t really any stops that Jerry Seinfeld can’t seemingly pull for his web series Comedians in Coffee Getting Coffee, but this trailer for season 3 of the coolest hang out sessions with some of Jerry’s funniest friends might be the best yet.

Patton Oswalt gets to ride in a DeLorean, Howard Stern and Jerry almost look like they’re having an episode of Seinfeld, Tina Fey joins Jerry even though she doesn’t drive, Louis C.K. takes Jerry on his boat, and much much more.

Oh yeah, there are drones for some reason as well.

Yeah, you want to watch this right now.

Shez Cassim Still in Jail in United Arab Emirates for Parody Video

Shez Cassim and his friends have been in jail in the United Arab Emirates for making a parody video for several months.

Only know have they been sentenced to a year in jail, though whether those months will count or they’ll have to serve their full sentence and get deported back to the U.S. has yet to be officially seen.

Whatever government arm that’s in charge of public relations for the UAE must be taking the holidays off.

Brain surgery for a tumor at 20, the loss of the great-comedian-in-the-making Angelo Bowers, in addition to all the highs and lows of coming up as a stand-up nowadays, make for a singular memoir from Matty Goldberg.

Pick up a copy of Matty’s Brain Humor now to feel inspired and get an unfiltered look into what it takes to do comedy and why comedians, despite anything and everything, go and tell jokes to strangers anyway.

Lizzy Caplan is Paul F. Tompkins‘ latest guest on his intimate talk show Speakeasy (complete with real cocktails as opposed to a coffee mug of a water that you get on all those other talk shows) and is beyond charming as Lizzy is known to be.

As you might have hoped, she talks about being on Freaks and Geeks and Party Down in a nice long chat with Tompkins and then imitates memes, which, if you don’t swoon over, then, well… we just don’t know how to help you.

Well, that’s what we got to do and here’s part 1 with some of our absolute favorites of our absolute favorites including Pat Bishop’s idiot fencing, Mark Normand on Conan, No, You Shut Up with Paul F. Tompkins, and more.

In addition to the New Year’s celebration that NBC will have with Carson Daly, NBC is also having a year end special where comedians Nikki Glaser, Julian McCullough, Seth Herzog, Sherrod Small, and hosted by TV personality Willie Geist presumably go over what was captivated our attention this year and was also a big waste.

What We Wasted Our Year On is on at 9PM EST/6PM PST on NBC tonight  and it might be worth checking out especially in this no man’s land of time between Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

Put Your Hands Together Celebrates Its One Year Anniversary in Jan.

It’s a lot to ask a brand new live show in LA’s vast comedy scene to replace the slot of something like Comedy Bang! Bang! at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre (previously known as the legendary Comedy Death Ray), which is currently a hit podcast on Earwolf and TV show on IFC. Yet, Put Your Hands Together has made a name for itself over a year with it’s host Cameron Esposito having a hell of a year and being voted into one of LA Weekly’s yearly best lists.

So, celebrate the first year of Put Your Hands Together at UCB on Tues. Jan 7th 8PM with a wonderful line-up including: Matt Braunger, Rhea Butcher, Katie Crown, Ron Funches, Karen Kilgariff, Kyle Kinane, Howard Kremer, Brendon Small, Paul F. Tompkins, your fantastic host Cameron Esposito, and more TBA!
