Something Strange Is Going to Happen at The Fashion Police Writers Strike Benefit Show
The writers of Fashion Police, many of whom are very funny comedians featured here at The Comedy Bureau, are still on strike for unpaid wages. In solidarity of their strike, they’re holding a benefit show at The Laugh Factory, then this insane thing is apparently happening where E! is possibly throwing a wrench in the benefit.
One thing to keep in mind when you read the full story at the link: Almost no show at The Laugh Factory is sold out days in advance, no matter who is playing there.

Enter Flavorwire’s Short Fiction Contest and Possibly Win $500 For a Short Story
Culture blog Flavorwire is putting up a nice little chunk of change for a a great short story that some of you probably already have. They’re looking for 5,000 words or less and a work of fiction, so if you already have that saved in a file somewhere, it’d make sense to enter (also, there doesn’t appear to be an entry/submission fee).
Please acquaint yourself with the comedy of Canada’s own DeAnne Smith who just did a wonderful set on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson last night.
TBS will be one of the first channels/networks to offer complete access to whatever’s playing on air to those who choose to watch online. This means you’ll be able to watch Conan, Deon Cole and Pete Holmes’ upcoming shows, and possibly a police procedural comedy from Steve and Nancy Carell currently in development.
Now the question will become: If you’re streaming TBS online, do you still have to watch all these shows during their airtime?

While on Conan last night promoting Dad Is Fat, Jim Gaffigan got a weird fan letter from a fan and responded under the impression that the fan was some sort of stalker, whether it actually seemed that way or not.
Watch here. (Also, wouldn’t it be crazy if this story played out like Judd Apatow getting a letter from Steve Martin when he was a kid?)
Rumors that sabotage of the benefit for the Fashion Police writers currently on strike have been circulating over the past few days.
However, we attended the show last night at the Laugh Factory in Hollywood and no such hijinks occurred and it was just a packed room with a crowd that simply had a great time watching Bryan Cook, Eliza Skinner, Todd Masterson, Dante, Baron Vaughn, Bobcat Goldthwait, and more.
Though, it turns out that while it was indeed true that E! executives did purchase a majority of the tickets, pretty much no one showed up on their behalf to not laugh or whatever was planned, which means the crowd in attendance had paid individually at the door to get in.
Thus, the benefit generated much more money than originally possible that went to the writers that needed it.
Mike Judge’s Silicon Valley Comedy Goes To Series at HBO
Not only the likes of Mike Judge and Scott Rudin leading this project set in Silicon Valley, but TJ Miller, Thomas Middleditch, Zach Woods, and Kumail Nanjiani are all in the cast.
To say the least, we’re really excited for this one.
After 9 seasons, the U.S. version of The Office is coming to a close. Tonight at 9PM on NBC, a one hour special series finale will air.
For some reason, this feels like the end of an era at NBC. We wonder what they’re next 200+ episodes sitcom will be (hopefully, Parks and Recreation).

Westwood Brewing Company Is Closing, Ending One of the Longest Running Open Mics in LA
For nearly decades, The Westwood Brewing Company has housed several comedy open mics every week making it a Los Angeles comedy scene institution, especially the most noted one hosted by Vance Sanders and Robert Yasumura. Some of the most successful comedians today, according to legend, at one time did the Brew Co like Zach Galifianakis.
SNL’s Taran Killam even referenced it on Fallon when he talked about one of the rare occasions he tried stand up.
We don’t have any details as to when specifically it will be closing, but there will be a big blow out comedy show in commemoration. More details to follow soon.

The Arrested Development Stair Car Will Make an Appearance at The Grove in LA Today
In promotion of the latest season of Arrested Development on Netflix, the show is going on a worldwide tour featuring things like a frozen banana stand in NYC and now, today, the famous/infamous stair car is apparently making an appearance at The Grove from 2PM to 10PM.
So, basically, don’t try to park at The Grove today.
Dan St. Germain and Sean O’Connor’s half hour specials on Comedy Central premiere tonight at 12AM.
They’re hilarious and you should be watching this instead of waiting for last call at whatever bar you happen to be at (we’re assuming this is what you’d be doing if you weren’t already home set to watch the latest episodes of The Half Hour on Comedy Central)

Kurt Braunohler’s Latest Project, “No YOU Stop”
As reported yesterday, Kurt Braunohler released/installed his latest project involving a stop sign with a twist of sarcasm. By our estimations, it’s probably somewhere in the Silverlake/Echo Park area of LA.
Seeing Kurt’s campaign for stupidity and absurdity in strangers lives should replace most people’s self help books.
