Chris Gethard Learns to Drive Stick in a Fire Truck

June 18, 2012
Uncategorized

While on his planned hitchhiking trip to Bonnaroo, Chris Gethard ended up at the house of someone that owned a vintage fire truck. It was so vintage that it had a manual transmission, which Gethard used to both learn how to use for the very first time and race one of his crew/semi-archenemy Bananaman.

Oh, in case you were wondering, Chris Gethard made it to Bonnaroo safe and is still currently alive.

Required Online Comedy Reading List: Adam Carolla Edition

June 20, 2012
Uncategorized

Well, you might have heard that Adam Carolla, in an interview yesterday with the NY Post, said those words that are statistically proven to light Internet afire: women aren’t funny. Of course, Carolla is no stranger to controversy as he has been accused of making homophobic remarks.  Still, it made for a flurry of articles and posts, listed after the break, that are worthy of reading in not only trying to end the conversation of about men being funnier than women, but the comedy career of Adam Carolla.

Funny Women by Rob Delaney on his blog (and his follow-up piece)
Adam Carolla Lobs Slow Pitch at Relevancy by Carol Hartsell for Huffington Post
Shut the Fuck Up Adam Frucci: A Defense of Adam Carolla by Sean Green on his blog
My 73 Year Old Dad on Why Women Are Funny by Jen Kirkman on her blog

Also, even though this piece we wrote for the Nerdist was regarding the Eddie Brill incident, we still think it’s pretty relevant again.

–Daria will air again with an MTV retro hour. We only fear what will be on MTV when ’00 nostalgia takes over.

–Safety Not Guaranteed filmmakers on to make The Ambassador.

–There may be a Bored to Death movie.

–Denis Leary cop comedy pilot gets greenlit by FX. Does this mean 7 or so years from now Denis Leary will be in a comedy pilot on FX about being in the Army?

–Larry David movie may have Jon Hamm in it.

–Ed Helms, Amy Poehler, Cobie Smulders, Michael Ian Black, and Noureen DeWulf to be in They Came Together.

–Chelsea Peretti officially leaving Parks and Recreation. Hopefully, this will mean she gets to make a web series based off her Instagram pranks.

–Matt Groening’s Life in Hell coming to an end.

–The Nerdist adds new podcasts with Doug Benson and The Watkins Family.

–Jimmy Carr apologises for tax evasion. That’s how you know you’ve made it as a comedian: You have enough money that warrants alleged tax evasion.

Celeste and Jesse Forever Has Potential to Be Next 500 Days of Summer

June 22, 2012
Uncategorized

From the trailer, Celeste and Jesse Forever with Rashida Jones and Andy Samberg has the potential to be that subversive, dark romantic comedy that hits a nerve with so many people who will end up talking about specific scenes over and over, but also will consequently piss off a whole other group of their friends that don’t buy into the dynamic between the two leads and wish they would stop talking about how great said movie is and should go out and meet other people already.

In other words, it might just be a great romantic comedy that might have made this list we made for Laughspin a while ago had it come out years ago.
