Broad City’s Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer Really Take Being on “The Daily Show” All In

March 11, 2015
Uncategorized
abbi jacobson, ilana glazer, jon stewart, the daily show

It’s very clear that one of Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer’s dreams was to be on The Daily Show as a guest chatting it up with Jon Stewart.

What the Broad City duo wasn’t counting on is the well deserved compliments from Stewart at the top of the interview. You can see throughout the whole segment that there is a very blurred line between Abbi and Ilana on the show and who they are in real life.

Watch their web exclusive extended interview here.

Will Ferrell To Pull Off MLB Spring Training Feat For HBO Special

(via Deadline)

Will Ferrell will to attempt to play several positions at several different Major League Baseball spring training fields in Arizona over the course of one day. The result will be a HBO special that Funny or Die and the MLB have partnered for in dedication to organizations fighting against cancer.

#FerrellTakesTheField will be the hashtag to follow how Ferrell will pull off doing this, which we’re guessing he will do in a similar fashion to the time he beat Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith in a drum off.

Ferrell will probably have the record for most stunts in support of charity very soon.

Sara Schaefer’s Debut Comedy Album “Chrysalis” Out Next Week From Comedy Dynamics

Uncategorized

Sara Schaefer is a perfect example of why “female comedians” should just be labeled as “comedians” and don’t need to be brought up on stage with “Are you guys ready for a lady?” because she’s outright funny, no qualifiers needed.

Her debut comedy album Chrysalis should back that statement up thoroughly.

Sara’s comedic lens is a wonderfully empowering one, especially for those who are tired of the world’s seemingly arbitrary standards with everything. For instance, you’ll be able to hear about It how crying at a museum can be one of the best things you can do at a museum.

Chrysalis comes out next week from Comedy Dynamics on Mar. 17th, but you can pre-order it now.

It’s not necessarily a who-live-to-tell-the-tale experience when guests do a segment on The Eric Andre Show, but host Eric Andre certainly makes a point of putting anyone who comes on the show through the ringer to a degree where some folks walk out and never speak of it again.

Jimmy Kimmel, however, knew what he was in for.

Jimmy Kimmel was a recent guest on The Eric Andre Show and revisited his experience, which he was game for, while on his own non-parody of a talk show, Jimmy Kimmel Live with Eric Andre himself.

Also, if you wondering, here’s the full clip of Jimmy’s visit to The Eric Andre Show.

As it has been two score since the release of legendary comedy Monty Python and the Holy Grail, this year’s Tribeca Film Festival is marking the occasion with a run of several Python films as well as the premiere of a feature length documentary following Monty Python off and backstage.

Roger Graef and James Rogan put together an entire feature length documentary entitled Monty Python – The Meaning of Live, which is set to play at Tribeca on Apr. 25th. The film offers up a close look behind the scenes of the Pythons and what went into for their recent O2 Arena run.

The sounds of clattering, hollowed coconuts will undoubtedly be heard somewhere during this anniversary.

Derek Zoolander and Hansel Get Coached by Anna Wintour and Full Video of Them on The Valentino Catwalk

In addition to Zoolander 2 coming to theaters next year on Feb. 12th and Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson as Derek Zoolander and Hansel walking down the Valentino catwalk in Paris at the end of a real fashion show, Derek and Hansel got some words of encouragement from the one and only Anna Wintour in an exclusive video for Vogue.

Then, both Derek and Hansel actually walked the catwalk at the same time and had a pretty great staredown.

Enjoy these clips for awhile because it’ll be quite some time before we see any teasers or trailers for the movie.

James Corden and Reggie Watts Make Sure to Soundcheck Everything in Their First Late Late Show Soundcheck

The premiere is less than two weeks away on Mon. Mar. 23rd on CBS.

3rd Jerrod Carmichael Pilot at NBC Gets Series Order

Over the last couple of years, NBC has ordered three separate pilots from Jerrod Carmichael, making it obvious that they want a series with his face on it. Well, the third time is really the charm in this case as they finally put they’re money down on this latest pilot.

What will be interesting to see here is that this is yet another multicam sitcom based on the life and stand-up of a comedian.

If you’ve ever seen Jerrod Carmichael’s act, we certainly want that to mean that the multicam format is getting a much needed update and edge.

The series has six episodes ordered to sort all of that out.

W. Kamau Bell To Host a New CNN Show “United Shades of America”

W. Kamau Bell is finally returning to TV to do what he was doing before he was on TV: touring the country to talk to the people, wherever they may be, about the issues that are affecting them all under the umbrella of comedy.

CNN has announced their upcoming programming slate and on it is United Shades of America that will be hosted by W. Kamau Bell. Bell will go far and wide across the land and get into whatever subcultures he can. This is sort of what Kamau was doing on his Laughter Against the Machine tour before he got to host the far-too-short-lived Totally Biased at FX/FXx.

For once, it’ll be nice to see a show on CNN probably not end up on The Daily Show to be poked fun at.

Since yesterday, more people are finding about what a gracious person he was beyond his creative endeavors even during his long bout with colon cancer in fighting for animal rights.

Hannibal Buress Gets Series Order For Topical Show “Why?” From Comedy Central

Unlike the time when Hannibal Buress really jumped the gun and announced that Comedy Central picked up his series on Twitter in an attempt to perhaps visualize his goals, Hannibal has really gotten an official series order where he basically gets to talk about and do what he wants.

Comedy Central has ordered 8 episodes of Why? which will feature Buress talking about the burning issues of the day, the ones he cares about anyway, and feature pre-taped segments, man-on-the-street bits, etc.

It sounds a little bit like Chapelle’s Show, but with Hannibal leading the way, we have no problem with that whatsoever and look forward to the premiere.

We were glad a few years ago when Hampton Yount traded coasts and came to LA. You’ll be able to find out why in his latest album “Bearable” released today from the good folks at AST Records.

Ever since he set foot in the city limits, he’s been killing it at any and all stages with his honed blend of sharp, silly, and biting humor. Rarely are there bits on human sacrifice that hit those marks, but Yount pulls that off and then some.

So, get Bearable now.

While there was no “walk-off”, Derek Zoolander and Hansel strutted down the runway for Valentino in Paris last night. It was the perfect primer to announce that Zoolander 2 will be coming to theaters for Valentine’s Day weekend, Feb. 12th, 2016.

If you have further doubts and/or haven’t checked any of your other news feeds today, here’s video footage of Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson in their Zoolander trademark Blue Steel and flowing golden locks

We can only hope that Zoolander 2 outdoes the movie that was released on Valentine’s Day weekend this year, Fifty Shades of Grey.

Disney Pixar’s latest Inside Out, which features Amy Poehler, Mindy Kaling, Lewis Black, Bill Hader, and Phyllis Smith as the voice of adorably anthropomorphized emotions got a new trailer today.

From the looks of it, it looks like this will be another home run with the creative and cleverly imagined world and fully realized, charming non-human characters. Also, it’s almost too perfect that Poehler is the voice of Joy.

Inside Out is set for a Jun. 19th release.

Aziz Ansari’s “Modern Romance” Coming Out Jun. 16th

Remember when Aziz Ansari reportedly got a $3.5 million advance for a book on modern relationships? We’re pretty sure that book is called Modern Romance and will be coming out June 16th.

Ansari mounted a year long investigation with a NYU sociologist, hundreds of interviews, focus groups, etc. in order to dissect what the quest for love in the 21st century is really like.

All of that research went into this book Modern Romance through Aziz’s lens and if it’s anything like the bits about love, dating, and relationships that he’s done recently, we think he might be onto something.

It doesn’t come out until the summer, but you can pre-order Modern Romance now.

Last night’s Night of Too Many Stars on Comedy Central was one wild, raucous, probably NSFW ride all in support of autism programs.

Such things as Louis C.K. taking an auction winner to take a bow at a Broadway play they weren’t in and Sarah Silverman confronting other auction winners like she would confront her parents all really happened.

Though the special is over, you can still support the charity via donation here or through entering into contests to win tickets to the last taping of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, tickets to The Roast of Justin Beiber, having a Vine video directed by Judd Apatow, be drawn into The Simpsons, or have a White Castle slider named after you.

If you were honest with yourself, you’d probably just pay and enter these contests without supporting any charity, so get on donating/entering now.

For The Simpsons alone, he’ll be remembered forever and yet, he did so much more in and outside of comedy.

Not that you ever need a reason to watch The Simpsons catalog, but make sure to remember Simon fondly every time you see his name at the end of the couch gag.

Yes, it’s the Michael Kenneth Williams that played Omar on The Wire.

Following Tobey Maguire’s Devon Morehouse on IFC mini-series The Spoils of Babylon, Michael K. Williams will star in the upcoming iteration of “Spoils” written by “literary figure” Eric Jonrosh (Will Ferrell).

The follow-up will be called The Spoils Before Dying and Williams will play a jazz pianist in the Los Angeles of yesteryear that gets caught up in a web of deceit and lies in which he tries to clear his name.

We’re pretty sure Ferrell in a giant hat and a beard, Williams, and a beautifully and intentionally overwrought faux-dramatic mini-series is a winning combination.

This really happened this weekend at Baby Talk @ Nerdmelt Showroom.

At the wonderful Nerdmelt Showroom, home to The Meltdown with Jonah & Kumail. Jensen Karp and Dan Levy put on a show called Baby Talk where they interview comedians about their childhood and having children, then have an actual child talk to them as well as show off a talent.

This past weekend, the show had The Meltdown’s Jonah Ray as well as 1st grade child actor/break dancer Blayne Smith face off in a dance battle.

Watch Jonah take his turn dancing, which should make up for any leftover sluggishness from daylight savings time.

John Oliver and his team at Last Week Tonight showed us again what we’re missing.

The voting rights of U.S. territories that, for some reason, have not reached statehood despite considerable populations isn’t necessarily, at first glance, something that is ripe for a comedy show. Yet, Oliver curates plenty of funny moments to get this very niche topic that’s rarely been discussed to show why he’s going to be at HBO for a very long time.

Watch it here.

At the beginning of the year, we reported that the very funny Sean O’Connor and Ian Karmel were brought on board to write for the new Late Late Show hosted by James Corden.

As their premiere is less than a month away, they’ve filled the rest of their writing staff.

So, the writers of The Late Late Show with James Corden are:

Mike Gibbons who is the co-creator of Tosh.0
Sean O’Connor
Ian Karmel
James Davis who recently appeared on Last Call with Carson Daly
Lauren Greenberg
Ben Hoffman from The Ben Show
David Dineen-Porter (host of Party of Four podcast)
Nedaa Sweiss
DJ Javerbaum from The Daily Show

So, this bunch makes for a good, wide mix along with Corden and Reggie Watts that has us even more enticed for their debut.
