Get a Look at Mike Myers as “British TV Personality” Tommy Maitland, the Host of Revived ‘Gong Show’
It’s been quite some time since we’ve seen Mike Myers play a character in a sort of lead role outside like he did for the Austin Powers franchise.
Yet, with a sequel in the works and him donning a virtually unrecognizable get up to be the new host of the brand spankin’ new Gong Show, Tommy Maitland.
The Gong Show is already a bit chaotic as is, but we’d hope that with Myers playing the character of a renowned UK comedian and Will Arnett attached as EP, that some rather more insane stuff will happen to set it apart from America’s Got Talent and other reality competition shows.
In any case, you can get a taste of what Myers is like as Maitland in this teaser, then catch the series revival premiere on Thursday, June 22nd at 10PM on ABC.
John Oliver, Last Week Tonight, and Mike Myers Risk Fines, Possibly Imprisonment for Canadian Election Segment
While most political ads that trash the opposition often seem juvenile, John Oliver and Last Week Tonight put a damning, well-documented case against incumbent Canadian Prime Minister, Stephen Harper.
Oliver chose the Canadian election, which happens today, for his main segment on Last Week Tonight last night and really pinpointed why Harper shouldn’t be in office anymore.
Apparently, doing so during an election in Canada is against Canadian law and Oliver could face a moderately hefty fine or even jail time.
Yet, John Oliver pushed on anyway and had the help of one of Canada’s biggest household names, Mike Myers.
HBO Gives Mike Myers an Overall Deal
(via The Hollywood Reporter)
The man who brought us Austin Powers and so many memorable years on Saturday Night Live is going to get back into television.
HBO has just given Myers a two year overall deal, which will give him plenty of room to create and play at the premium cable network.
This announcement has already got our wheels turning for what Myers might be concocting? Maybe a Dr. Evil series?
