Catch “Welcome To Me” As Soon As You Can

kristen wiig, welcome to me

It came out last week in limited release and we can only hope that it gets to expand to more theaters soon as a great alternative to the big summer blockbuster fare.

If you’ve been waiting for a moment where Kristen Wiig gets to go full Kristen Wiig, so to speak, that moment comes with Welcome To Me, directed by Shira Piven and written by Eliot Laurence. Seemingly, every off-kilter quirk gets full range to go wherever Wiig wanted it to, whether it be somewhere hysterical, dark, or between the two. The premise of a mentally unstable person winning the lottery and then making her own talk show really did provide a great stage to showcase Wiig and have a great supporting cast in Joan Cusack, James Marsden, Linda Cardellini, and Wes Bentley to contrast as the “straight men”.

It’s playing at Sundance Sunset Cinemas in West Hollywood and, if it wasn’t clear, we suggest you go catch it as soon as you can.

Kristen Wiig Goes on “The Tonight Show” as Khaleesi

How much do you wanna bet that the pre-interview for this didn’t go past, “Well, Kristen’s just going to come as Khaleesi.”?

In her tradition of showing up as famous personalities that she, seemingly on purpose, doesn’t research all that much, Kristen Wiig came on to The Tonight Show as Game of Thrones’ Khaleesi. It’s probably the best way to promote her movie, Welcome To Me, about a slightly abnormal person winning the lottery and making their own talk show as well.

Of course, Wiig didn’t disappoint and we’d like to think that Westeros would just come under this Khaleesi’s rule by her charm alone rather than the threat of dragons.

Watch it all here.

“Welcome To Me” With Kristen Wiig Has a New Trailer Just as Delightful as The Last One

Over a month ago, a wonderful trailer was briefly released for “Welcome To Me” starring Kristen Wiig as an off-kilter lottery winner that starts her own talk show with her winnings. Then, it disappeared.

Almost a month later, there is a new trailer that you should watch just as obsessively as you did the last one. There’s probably never been a movie that’s more perfect for Wiig and, we’ll say it again, Kristen should probably have her own show like the fictionalized one in this movie.

OK, that’ s enough from us. Watch the trailer for Welcome To Me here.

What If Kristen Wiig Won The Lottery and Created Her Own Talk Show? Watch Trailer for “Welcome To Me”

After a series of dramadies and more grounded roles with Kristen Wiig, Wiig seems like she will get to be more of the wonderful weirdo that we all came to know and love on SNL in her latest film Welcome To Me from director Shira Piven and writer Eliot Laurence.

Wiig plays a woman who is more than a little offbeat, but then suddenly wins the lottery and creates her own talk show. The result, from this trailer anyway, seems to be Wiig getting to run with however absurd she wants to get.

After watching this, we hope that in some universe if not this one that Wiig would be the host kind of like she is here for a real talk show.

*Trailer has been taken down for the time being.

We thoroughly enjoyed the dark turn that Kristen Wiig had in The Skeleton Twins this year, so, naturally, we’re looking forward to another dark comedy starring her in 2015 in Welcome To Me.

In the movie, Wiig wins the lottery and then decides to make a TV show about herself, which seems like a perfect storm for a dark indie comedy.
