Max Greenfield and Stephen Colbert get very clever in this bit on last week’s Late Show that is inspired by Trump’s presidential election win and trying to understand how it happened on the level of children’s recreational sports leagues.

Matthew Patrick Davis Presents a Song of Unity (Sort of) with “Come Together (We Elected a Bigot)”

It’s important that comedy keep holding certain people (Trump) and their feet to the fire.

Matthew Patrick Davis’ amazing musicianship and clever wordplay (he made an entire unauthorized musical about the King of Kong documentary) get put to great satirical use at a time where satire is probably more important than it’s been in awhile.

Watch the music video for Come Together (We Elected a Bigot).

John Oliver Says F 2016

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver’s entire season finale dealt with, as to be expected, the results of this year’s U.S. presidential election being a win for Donald Trump.

If you’ve been to a live comedy show this whole week or watched late night or SNL, you’ll notice it’s unavoidable to talk about as it’s the only thing on anyone’s mind (no matter if you supported Trump or not). Many comedians on television do skew left, so many monologues and segments took a slightly more solemn tone that had a tinge of Sully Sullenberger’s call to brace for impact on that fateful Flight 1549.

One should note that a joke being told “too soon” can also apply to the person telling the joke as they might have not properly processed their own emotions after such a tragic event.

That being said, as far as we’ve seen, comedy, by and large, fulfilled its main priority in bringing laughter amidst all the anxiety/shock/grieving/crying/coping/etc. (and we’ve seen a few comedians crying on stage this week during their set). This is all in the liberal bastion of Los Angeles, by the way, where the air definitely hangs heavy still throughout the entire city.

Whether it be Stephen Colbert live on election night or Solomon Georgio demanding to take the stage on a show that was all but cancelled due to a Trump win being eminent or Emily Heller at a show that was supposed to celebrate a Hillary Clinton victory and was a show for solidarity in defeat, they did get to the jokes and got the job done. It wasn’t easy in the face of so much terrifying uncertainty of a Trump Administration, but they pulled it off spectacularly anyhow. These moments are where comedy just goes beyond being a clown and is shown as the art form that can bring people together and put them at ease.

John Oliver does just that with this week’s entire episode of Last Week Tonight by going through the election in a slightly sober tone, but ultimately bringing us together over just how much 2016 sucked. Indeed, there is a silly unity in telling the year 2016 to “f off”.

FYI, HBO has the courtesy of putting the whole, as opposed to portion of it, on YouTube for your convenience. Watch it here.

Bill Maher’s “Whiny Little Bitch” Special About the New President Elect Is Streaming on YouTube

If you’re needing to continue needing to vent your frustrations and not feel like you’re crazy that what just happened with the election was crazy, the live stand-up special that Bill Maher just did on Facebook Live is now on YouTube.

Recorded just before the election at Largo, it’s called Whiny Little Bitch and is all about the newly elected 45th President of the United States. Maher is unapologetic (even more so than he is on Real Time) and showcases really what sort of Commander-in-Chief and VP we have to spend the next four years with.

Here’s Samantha Bee Take on Donald Trump Becoming President-Elect

In the same fashion that made Samantha Bee stand out from the rest of late night, Bee didn’t pull any punches in dealing with Trump winning while much of the rest of late night world was looking to be more positive or reconciliatory on the results.

Watch it here and you just might feel better for a few minutes (that is if you were with her).

With four years of a Trump administration lurking in the coming months, Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, along with Last Week Tonight with John Oliver are probably going to be bigger deals than they already are (perhaps even as big as The Daily Show with Jon Stewart)

While it’s certainly unbelievable that there would be undecided voters in this election, they do exist.

Above Average wanted to get “their story” and see what has them so internally conflicted on choosing between Hillary and Trump.

Well, they “found” some undecided voters and made this video profile of them that really shows why they can’t decide.

Full Frontal with Samantha Bee Finds a Preview of a Trump Presidency in Maine’s Governor Paul LePage

What fills the nightmares that are inspired by a Trump presidency seem endless. Yet, what the reality Trump presidency might be like is still sort of a question.

That’s why Full Frontal with Samantha Bee found an example of what that might be like and didn’t even have to go to the Philippines and see Rodrigo Duterte to do so. In our own backyard, the administration of Governor Paul LePage in Maine gives a pretty good preview of Trump in office.

Paul F. Tompkins Talks VP Debate and Plays Editor-in-Chief of the One “Newspaper” Endorsing Trump on Colbert

Though Paul F. Tompkins regularly guests on @midnight and stars in Bajillion Dollar Propertie$ on Seeso, Paul deserves far more screen time.

Last night, that desired additional screen time came in the form of an interview with Stephen Colbert and a fun bit where Paul plays the guy who heads up the one newspaper in the entire country that endorses Trump.

We can only hope that the press tour for Bajillion Dollar Propertie$ leads to more of this.

These Daily Show with Jon Stewart alums, Samantha Bee and Stephen Colbert, seem to be in the highest of highs with comedy hosting their own big time shows.

As such, when Bee stopped by on Colbert they got a bit nostalgic for both their time at The Daily Show and the days of their lives that didn’t have to focus on the election.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert brought us a new Werd segment that not only showed the rampant inconsistencies in Trump’s stance on immigration in his presidential campaign as of late, but also managed to work plenty of Anthony Weiner digs in there too.

Stephen Colbert Reunites with Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert (The Character), and Hungry for Power Games at RNC

That’s right, Stephen Colbert pulled out all the stops in his live broadcast of The Late Show last night, following the kick-off of the Republican National Convention.

Not only did he have his former boss, Jon Stewart, do a fun bit, but he also brought back Stephen Colbert, the character, for The Colbert Report segment “The Word”.

Also, Colbert went on a tour through the RNC set up at Quicken Loans Arena and roasted the whole venue as Julius Flickerman in a new Hungry for Power Games segment. He indeed did take the stage when he probably wasn’t supposed to.

All in all, we hope Stephen keeps up this pace for his convention coverage.

Stephen Colbert Previews His RNC and DNC Coverage on CBS This Morning

For both the Republican National Convention and the Democratic National Convention, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will be going live with their coverage of the two events for two weeks.

With the insane climate of this presidential election and the amount of air time that Colbert has, The Late Show has lots of stuff up their sleeve including an appearance by Jon Stewart, a giant musical number, and more.

Watch Stephen run down exactly what’s in store while on CBS This Morning even though no one is completely sure what’s going to happen at the RNC.
