“Space Force” Teaser Shows Steve Carell as Boss of an Office Again (Though Much More Dangerous Than Dunder Mifflin)

An argument could be made that Steve Carell knows how to play a conflicted boss type better than almost any one just off his performance as Michael Scott on The Office.

With that in mind, it’s very exciting to see Carell in another boss role that’s set in an office in Netflix’s upcoming satirical comedy from Steve Carell and Greg Daniels, Space Force, based on Trump’s real life, newly created branch of the U.S. military. In this office, the stakes are much, much higher than they would be at Dunder Mifflin and Carell isn’t necessarily the main source of the strife so much as it’s emanating from the circumstances he was placed in. Space Force actually seems a little closer in DNA to Veep than The Office, though we’ll see when Space Force premieres given Daniels and Carell being so closely tied to the American version of The Office. Still, Carell returning to being the series lead in a comedy is pretty damn enticing.

See all of this for yourself in Space Force teaser here.

The Greg Daniels Space Military Workplace Comedy “Space Force” Sets John Malkovich, Ben Schwartz, Diana Silvers, and Tawny Newsome as Series Regulars Opposite Steve Carell

It’s hard to not imagine Space Force as some sort of version of the American version of The Office.

Sure, there’s much more tension inherent in creating another branch of the Armed Forces set in space (not to mention how incompetent that all might be Greg Daniels really wants to satirize Trump’s actual shiny distraction of the same name) versus selling paper to local business to a small section of the Northeastern United States.

The presence of Michael Scott AKA Steve Carell and Ben Schwartz from The Office’s successor, Parks and Recreation along with the likes of Diana Silvers who stood out in Booksmart this year and Bajillion Dollar Propertie$’s Tawny Newsome all under the creative umbrella of Greg Daniels and Carell would suggest that fans of The Office, Parks and Recreation, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine all have something new potentially in the same vein very soon.

Adding John Malkovich to the cast is definitely a very intriguing wrinkle that might end up being quite the role for Malkovich.

You bet we’re excited for whenever Netflix’s drops the full trailer for Space Force.

Greg Daniels and Steve Carell Will Be Sending Up Trump’s “Space Force” in New Netflix Series

When the head moron in the White House announced the creation of a new “Space Force”, much of the world marveled at another revelation of how childish Trump really is.

Greg Daniels and Steve Carell will be sending up that very organization in a new Netflix series that was announced today simply titled Space Force.

No other details for the series exist at this time, but even if this puts a sort of Michael-Jim-Pam-Dwight dynamic in the setting of a Space Force Office, we’d probably be pretty OK with that. Another possibility might be more along the lines of a deep cut from Steve Martin’s filmography, Sgt. Bilko, a workplace comedy set on an Army base that specifically focused on fooling higher-ups that a hovering tank was both worked and was a good idea. It’s all speculation at this point unfortunately.

In any case, we’re excited that Carell will be working with Daniels on a comedy once again.
