The wondrous and hysterical Canadian transplant Debra DiGiovanni and TCB’s Jake Kroeger have quite the hopeful chat about her numerous gigs doing live-streaming comedy in the last several weeks and how she might specifically imagine to take the stage again and what that might really look like (especially for someone who has played comedy venues of all sorts of sizes). Also, they touch upon the tragic closure of the Upright Citizens Brigade in NYC, the rescheduling of some major comedy festivals, as well as what’s new and/or noteworthy in comedy this week.

Follow Debra @debradg on Instagram & @debradigiovanni on Twitter. Tune in to her daily Instagram Live check-in show Afternoon Delight with Zach Noe Towers at 4PM PT via her Instagram handle. Enjoy the Splendid Premiere of HBO’s Run (for Free on YouTube)

As we all have been devouring content, both new and old, due to being stuck at home, the premiere of Run, a new HBO series that just so happens to come from the mind of Vicky Jones (Fleabag, Killing Eve) is especially enticing. Trailer and teasers really left plenty of mystery as to what the show might be and how exactly it was going to blend thriller and rom com elements.

Yet, having watched the first episode already, we can see that it genuinely is a satisfying screwball rom com thriller. The tension is pulled taught pretty much from the get go and that’s where the fun and the “will-they-won’t-they” dynamic in so many rom coms gets taken to a whole new dangerous, exciting, sexy level. Domhnall Gleason and Merritt Wever’s undeniable chemistry, even felt in their quiet glances, really has us invested in wherever they might go, which might be anywhere given the show’s core premise.

Get on board and see all of this yourself as Run’s first ep. is on YouTube in full courtesy of HBO.

Not much is given away in this teaser for Run, a sort of mystery thriller/rom com. Yet, it feels like so many subtle hints are actually given by the looks and brief lines shared by Domnhall Gleeson and Merritt Wever. Also, the glimpse of the titular inciting incident kind of has us hooked as well.

Additionally, being in the hands of a wondrous duo behind the beloved Fleabag, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and frequent collaborator Vicky Jones, has our mind racing as to what sort of satisfyingly risky and unforeseen territory this series will take us.

Guess we’ll have to find out on the series premiere, Sun. Apr. 12th 10:30PM on HBO. For now, you can just enjoy this teaser for HBO’s Run.

HBO Orders Comedy ‘Run’ From Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Vicky Jones to Series

Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Vicky Jones wowed all those who saw Fleabag (and the second season looks to be pretty astounding as well) and Waller-Bridge has gained loads of acclaim for Killing Eve.

So, it seems like a smart move on HBO’s part to greenlight their series where a woman leaves here basic life to run off with her first love. Can’t wait to see what they’ve cooked up as we’re pretty sure there’s a whole lot more complex nuance and humor under the surface of this very brief premise.
