Pick of the Day: Little Secret Climate Fest (in LA) 9/30

News
adam conover, climate action, little secret, los angeles comedy, variety show

Today, the UN has convened for a climate summit that supposedly will address the dire circumstances that the entire global population faces from undeniable climate change. Only four years ago, Greta Thunberg had assembled the largest climate protest in Manhattan and, as you can see in the headlines, natural disasters around the world have only gotten more violent since then (minus those few months during COVID-19 quarantine where everyone stayed inside, for the most part).

That’s all to say that a lot more has to be done, which is why Little Secret is throwing a big climate action bonanza at the end of this month. The best comedy, music, and climate focused minds will be coming together for Little Secret Climate Fest on Sat. Sept. 30th at 8:30PM.

On the bill thus far are Adam Conover, Leah Bonnema, Echo Kellum, Lance Bangs as well as Jenny O., Escape Artist of Lovers (feat. Rain Phoenix), Grace Mckagan, Amanda & Shepard Fairey, and many, many more. Proceeds will benefit the work of @sunrisemvmtla & @ycstrikela.

For all of this, tickets are only $10. Plus there’s a really kicking after party, per usual at Little Secret, going late.

Go get tickets here (address given 48 hrs. before event w/purchase of ticket).

The comedy stylings of Taylor Ortega, Rachel Pegram, Sarah Schauer, Madi Hart, and Rishi Mahesh will be on display all leading into the very first an afterparty at the new Little Secret.

News
Bug Mane, desus nice, ellory smith, little secret, little secret presents, on Daly

If you’re in LA today, you might look outside and recognize the sort stereotypical intermittent, inconsequential rain that we’re accustomed to. Hopefully, that’s a sign that we’re past the torrential downpour of this past winter and we can back to our regularly scheduled programming of being able to do fun stuff outside at all times.

One such thing we’re looking forward to is one of our favorite underground venues, Little Secret, bringing back their curated flagship show, Little Secret Presents, that’s an astounding stand-up variety show in a hip backyard with the power of community organizations uniting like minded folks for great causes.

This first post-winter Little Secret Presents is a doozy with a line-up for Fri. May 12th at 8PM sporting Jon Daly, Bug Mane, Ellory Smith, and Desus Nice (yes, formerly of Desus & Mero)just to name a few. The LA Tenants Union will be coming through and voicing crucial issues regarding one of LA’s biggest and most critical issues, housing. Per usual, there will be a slick afterparty with DJs and cutting rugs.

Tickets are only $14 right now (and $18 on day of). Go get tickets for the early bird nice price here.

Pick of the Day: TCB 12 Yr. Anniversary (in LA) 11/5

November 4, 2022
News
anniversary show, Best Actress, chris estrada, guy branum, ian karmel, little secret, los angeles comedy, max beasley, natalie palamides, Rachel Kaly Roz Hernandez, stand up

Just starting from not exactly where open mics where outside of the one coffee shop in Long Beach that we started at to being as central a hub for all the comedy info you need in LA and NYC as can be, 12 years of The Comedy Bureau has been almost indescribable (mostly because pretty much all the work at TCB rests on the back of Jake Kroeger and he doesn’t have that much time to think about 12 years of doing this when there are listings to update).

It seemed prudent that we should celebrate the occasion and we’re doing exactly that this Saturday, Nov. 5th at the ultra cool Little Secret in Hollywood with the brilliant comedic talents of Natalie Palamides, Chris Estrada, Best Actress, Guy Branum, Rachel Kaly Roz Hernandez, Max Beasley, Ian Karmel. Oh yeah, TCB’s very own Jake Kroeger will be taking a slight break from having 200 or more tabs open on his web browser to host the show.

Also, this is the perfect way to party out the end of Daylight Savings Time.

The show is at 8PM. Tickets are $12. Go get ’em here.

The Comedy Bureau Field Report Ep. 127: Brett Davis & The Slow Burn

August 31, 2022
News, The Comedy Bureau Field Report
brett davis, chris rock, jfl, little secret, meta

One of the great things about comedy in LA is that there is literal space to create your own niche and do what you want. Brett Davis is exemplifying this with the ultra underground venue he co-runs, Little Secret, and his dedication to experimenting with slow burning bits and characters, almost exclusively. Davis breaks down his philosophy on doing such characters on stage as well as being DIY with, well, everything he does with TCB’s Jake Kroeger.

Also, “hot” takes on Chris Rock not hosting next year’s Oscars, JFL going to the metaverse, and more.
