The #NightlyShow premieres Monday night after @TheDailyShow! @larrywilmore welcomes Senator @corybooker, @TalibKweli, and @billburr.

The premiere of The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore is just on the other side of this weekend.

Mon. Jan. 19th at 11:30PM will see Wilmore take The Nightly Show desk for its inaugural spin as well as have pretty great inaugural line-up of guests. Comedian Bill Burr, Senator Cory Booker, and rapper Talib Kweli should make for a solid, varied half hour premiere.

With that many guests, we’re guessing The Nightly Show will definitely be different than The Daily Show.

Apparently, according to this promo featuring Sean Donnelly, they’re working really hard. Maybe too hard?

As the premiere of The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore is looming (Jan. 19th at 11:30PM on Comedy Central), we’re all getting a better sense of how the show is shaping up.

For instance, they have just announced three contributors of The Nightly Show, which are the multi-hyphenate comedians Shenaz Treasury, Ricky Velez, and Mike Yard.

How they’ll contribute and how close that’ll be to Daily Show correspondent pieces and segments in studio has yet to be seen, but we’re throughly intrigued into how the “nightlyness” will play out.

“@midnight” Moving to 11:30PM For Two Weeks Before “The Nightly Show” Premiere

When people were concocting various strategies that Comedy Central to fill in The Colbert Report when Stephen Colbert was first announced to be David Letterman’s replacement at The Late Show, some entertained the idea of “@midnight with Chris Hardwick” going up to 11:30PM.

However, the name of the show would prohibit from that ever be serious schedule change… or so we thought.

From Jan. 5th to Jan. 19th, the two weeks that lead up to the premiere of The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore, Comedy Central has indeed decided to move up “@midnight” to 11:30PM.

We’re sure Hardwick and company are going to have a bunch of fun in a quasi-time rift for a fortnight.

Yesterday, we told you that the promotion for The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore should be coming in around now with a Jan. 19th start date.

So, here’s your first look at the show with Larry Wilmore going out into the world and telling the people about his new show on Comedy Central, starting in a cafe.

The premiere of The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore is just over a month away on Jan. 19th and so promotion of it should be ramping up right about now.

They have just gotten an official logo for the show, as you can see above, that’s a decided departure for The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. It’s minimalist and clean not unlike the logo for another Daily Show alum’s post-Daily Show Daily Show-esque show, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.

However, we also think The Nightly Show logo is very reminiscent of another Comedy Central series that dealt with current issues from awhile ago, Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn. If that somehow means that they were be echoes of that in The Nightly Show, we’re on board.

When reporting on the events in Ferguson, Missouri, Jon Stewart and The Daily Show looked to their Senior Black Correspondent, soon to be host of The Nightly Show, Larry Wilmore.

Here are his very poignant, well spoken thoughts on the issue, which, very easily, could be applied to the decision to not indict the NYPD officer who choked Eric Garner to death.

Just as Stephen Colbert has picked up another hosting gig from The Kennedy Center on top of moving to The Late Show, Larry Wilmore will now be hosting The Writers Guild Awards in February in addition to his hosting duties at The Nightly Show.

By this time, Wilmore will have already started his post at The Nightly Show, which is making for a really good start to 2015 for Larry.

Thus, the changing of the late night guard in 2015 begins with Larry Wilmore in mid January, then James Corden following on The Late Late Show set for Mar. 9th, and then Stephen Colbert at The Late Show at a TBD date.

“The Minority Report” with Larry Wilmore Will Now Be Titled “The Nightly Show”

In order to avoid “brand confusion”, Comedy Central’s replacement for The Colbert Report will no longer called The Minority Report with Larry Wilmore.

Rather, it will now be called The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore, which is fitting in the sense that it’s following The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and preceding @midnight with Chris Hardwick,

The “brand confusion” supposedly refers to having the show be more about underdogs as opposed to just minorities. However, it also clears up any confusion it would have with Steven Spielberg’s Minority Report from 2002.

The Minority Report with Larry Wilmore Names Robin Thede as Head Writer

Robin Thede, writer for Chris Rock at this year’s BET Awards and The Queen Latifah Show, has just landed the head writing gig at The Minority Report with Larry Wilmore.

Former Daily Show showrunner Rory Albanese and Larry Wilmore himself will be executive producing the show.

Now that all of this set, hopefully, we’ll get some sort of idea of the format of The Minority Report.

Former Daily Show EP Rory Albanese Joins The Minority Report with Larry Wilmore as EP

(via Deadline)

Last year, Rory Albanese left his long tenure at The Daily Show as a writer/executive producer to pursue other projects, do a bit of stand-up, etc. In fact, he signed a development deal with Warner Bros. and subsequently sold a project.

Now, Albanese is returning to his EP role on a Comedy Central series, except it will be on the brand new show with another Daily Show alum, Larry Wilmore and his upcoming show,The Minority Report with Larry Wilmore set to replace The Colbert Report.

Though this doesn’t give us much more details on The Minority Report, it should instill a more confidence in whatever they’re up to in developing it right now.

Comedy Central Releases Some Details on The Minority Report with Larry Wilmore

Set to debut next year, The Minority Report with Larry Wilmore will not only feature Wilmore going through the news Daily Show style, but will possibly feature a panel that goes through topical issues in a more open discussion and perhaps bring a guest into it too.

Comedy Central is seeing this as an opportunity to showcase talent and perspectives they feel don’t get enough exposure. We’re definitely more intrigued now for The Minority Report’s premiere.

The Minority Report With Larry Wilmore To Replace The Colbert Report in Jan. 2015

All your bated breaths can now be let go. A Daily Show correspondent will indeed replace Stephen Colbert when he leaves for The Late Show to replace David Letterman starting in Jan. 2015 (coupled with Ferguson’s exit at the end of this year, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert should start around the same time).

Senior Black Correspondent Larry Wilmore, who’s credits run also include The Office and a Showtime special, will host The Minority Report with Larry Wilmore following The Daily Show and we challenge the Internet to be upset with this choice.
