Pick of the Day: The Couples Therapy 5th Anniversary Spectacular (in LA w/Livestream) 7/7

June 19, 2023
News
andy beckerman, laci mosley, live podcast, los angeles comedy, naomi ekperigin, nori reed, permanent records roadhouse, shantira jackson

As far as comedy power couples go, there should be a lot more love and admiration for Naomi Ekperigin and Andy Beckerman, also known as the two hosts of the amazing podcast Couples Therapy. For five years, Ekperigin and Beckerman, both wonderful comedians/writers on their own (don’t forget that Naomi is one of the best parts of Mythic Quest) and guests have shared the humorous beauty of working things out between relationship partners, especially when quarantine hit.

This podcast isn’t the hit Showtime series of the same name, but, honestly, both things are so amazing, FYI.

To celebrate the occasion, they’re throwing a big 5th Anniversary for Couples Therapy outdoor shindig at one of LA’s new comedy hot spots, Permanent Records Roadhouse (that you can also live-stream if you’re still very much into not leaving your home like Naomi and Andy) on Fri. Jul. 7th at 7PM. Joining them will be the stories and comedy gems of Laci Mosley, Nori Reed, and Shantira Jackson.

Tickets are $10 right now and $10 for live-stream (and $15 for in-person on the day of) and you can (and should) go get them here.

Pick of the Day: 15th Annual Thanksgiving Feast (in LA) 11/23

Even at this stage of the pandemic, the presence of top flight improv still isn’t what it once was, no matter where you go. The fate of UCB is still TBD at this point in time and the other smaller improv schools/theaters are only starting to have their house teams to get back in the swing of things.

That’s all to say that a chance to catch tip top level improv shouldn’t be missed and such a chance is coming up at The Elysian with The 15th Annual Thanksgiving Feast (that probably would have happened at UCB Franklin if circumstances were different). It’s an improvised Thanksgiving Dinner with a more than plentiful handful of LA’s best improvisers including:

Suzi Barrett
Alex Fernie
Alex Berg
Deborah Tarica
Julie Brister
Todd Fasen
Laci Mosley
Zeke Nicholson

If you could remember who was going up on several different teams every week pre-lockdown, it was all of these folks. So, once again, don’t miss out on your chance to see them live and in person (with proof of vaccination of course) and get a bit of levity before heading into the fray of a family Thanksgiving.

The 15th Annual Thanksgiving Feast is set for Tues. Nov. 23rd at 8PM PT at The Elysian. Tickets are $15 and you really ought to go get them here.

Pick of the Day: Outdoor Comedy Night 10/17

October 15, 2020
News
adam conover, ali macofsky, blair socci, Caleb Hearon, laci mosley, live comedy, steve hernandez

A line-up of Adam Conover, Ali Macofsky, Blair Socci, Caleb Hearon, Laci Mosley, and Steve Hernandez is so solid that they would be worth seeing in almost any setup.

Fortunately, we’re not just hipping you to another show on Zoom. This will be one of those, in times like these, one of those live, in person, outdoor shows that you might have started to hear about.

So, you just might want to catch them, live and in-person (socially distant and, again, outside, of course) this weekend at a just outside of a studio stage. To hammer the point home about being outside, it’s called Outdoor Comedy Night @ Sibling Studio in Atwater Village and they will have an early and a late show, 7:30PM & 9:30PM, for $28 a pop.

You can and should go get your tickets here and here respectively.

The driver/DJ/Hollywood insider/paranormal conduit Dicker Troy (Johnny Pemberton) is getting a shot to impart his blue collar mysticism via a live talk show. He’s got a great panel with Will Miles, David Gborie, Laci Mosley, and Chris Charpentier and, without a doubt, a bunch of surprises underneath those multiple rolled up sleeves.

Pretty great first holiday gift for the first of December, no?

So, you best go get your tickets for Dicker’s Talk Show at the Satellite this Sun. here.
