The Ruby Theater Needs Your Help to Move (and Stay Open)

Well, the block which used to house Meltdown Comics/Nerdmelt Showroom and currently houses the lovely indie comedy theater/school The Ruby LA is being torn down into turned into condos (probably high priced with commercial space on the first floor as is the trend currently in LA).

They have to be out of 7518 W. Sunset Blvd. by Nov. 30th and they’ll need your help in moving to keep the spirit of the great all-inclusive feminist-led theater alive.

We’ll let the folks at The Ruby LA tell you a bit more.

They’re just looking for $15K to keep The Ruby LA going. So, please support them at their GoFundMe here.

Please Support the Return of Echoes Under Sunset

Echoes Under Sunset was as DIY of a place as you could get and both figuratively and literally an underground venue, but it still managed to get voted as one of LA Weekly’s Best New Comedy Club and had a hell of a run over four years.

It gave a stage to open micers, up and comers, people who just got their break and pros and was definitely addition to the LA comedy scene.

After unceremoniously being shut down, Christian Chavez, the owner and proprietor, has been eyeing a return for Echoes in the already cool, but still booming neighborhood of Little Tokyo, just a couple miles of away from Echo Park, the original home of Echoes Under Sunset.

He’s already got a space picked out, but he needs help with making the space into the wondrous comedy venue that he once had including sound equipment, lighting, flooring, furniture, stage, etc.

This new Echoes has a GoFundMe set up for $50K and we highly urge you to contribute and donate at the link above.

Bob’s Burgers Writer Wendy Molyneux Challenged The Internet To Raise $10K To Make Her Watch The “Entourage” Movie

Wendy must have known that forcing someone to do something they really don’t want to do for charity is one of the Internet’s favorite things.

Wendy Molyneux, a writer on Bob’s Burgers and live variety show Wits, started an Internet campaign to raise money for cancer research. Her idea is that she would force herself to watch the Entourage movie if $10,000 were raised, and, of course, the GoFundMe campaign is almost at $17,000 as of this post.

As of now, she’ll not only go see Entourage twice in theaters with her own money not from the campaign, but do so in Drama Mama Pajamas and carrying a Turtle cup.

We wonder if she’ll up the ante with anything else if she gets to $50K or even six figures.

If you want to join in Wendy’s personal torture for charity, you can donate here.
