After really, truly, deeply not having the time to do an episode last week because of one of the stupidest elections in our lifetime, we are grateful to reconvene with the Field Report and the realignment of comedy in LA and elsewhere with the ever gallivanting John Hastings (on the path to releasing 8 specials this year that you should very much enjoy and watch).

Stephen Colbert Signs Off on His Election Special with More Gravitas Than Jokes

This is more of the type of monologue that late night hosts engage in when a national tragedy has just happened.

This election had not been called at the time, but Stephen Colbert closed his live election special on Showtime as best he could without alienating anyone too much. The tension was beyond palpable in the room (as it probably still is around the world while you’re reading these very words) and he handled it with as much grace as anyone could muster in this situation.

Watch it here.

These Daily Show with Jon Stewart alums, Samantha Bee and Stephen Colbert, seem to be in the highest of highs with comedy hosting their own big time shows.

As such, when Bee stopped by on Colbert they got a bit nostalgic for both their time at The Daily Show and the days of their lives that didn’t have to focus on the election.

Full Frontal with Samantha Bee to Do Hour Long Election Specials and Up Digital Presence

That’s all good with us.

Samantha Bee and Full Frontal have not let us down with their election coverage, especially after buying a Herman Cain bus to travel to the RNC and putting Sam’s face over Herman’s.

We can’t wait to see what Sam does with these upcoming specials and mid-week segments.

If you’re scouting third party candidates to vote for in November, may we suggest Will Forte’s Tim Calhoun who just very meekly threw his name in the ring.

Watch his announcement on The Tonight Show here and forget about the reality of how you’ll have of this election year for 5 minutes.

You might have heard that groundbreaking comedian and sitcom star Roseanne Barr has ran for office of President of these United States. Compared to everything else that has happened in this election, it’s not that odd.

Director Eric Weinrib made a documentary following Roseanne on the campaign trail and it looks pretty crazy, especially when you take in the reality of a comedian actually running for POTUS.

Watch the trailer here, then look for it in theaters and on VOD on July 1st.

Unquestionably one of the best films of the 90s, Election closed out the decade with a breakout performance from Reese Witherspoon and a great directorial showing from Alexander Payne.

TruTV’s truInside will explore the behind-the-scenes story of how improbably Election was to make despite being looked back as a brilliant satirical comedy that will probably hold up for decades to come.

Here’s a preview before tonight’s episode that airs at 10PM on TruTV.

This is the election coverage we both kind of need and deserve.

Thanks to Funny or Die and the existence of Triumph the Insult Comic Dog from the mind of Robert Smigel and the platform of Late Night with Conan O’Brien/Conan, there will be a comedy special covering the 2016 presidential race hosted by Triumph.

Let your mind run wild with how great and off-the-rails that will go.

The special will be called Triumph’s Election Special 2016 and will steam on Hulu starting next month.

We can only imagine what Smig– cough– Triumph has to say about his name being really close to Trump’s.
