Casey Wilson and June Diane Raphael Are Developing a Comedy for NBC

Casey Wilson and June Diane Raphael are quickly taking over network television and we have no problem with that.

We hope that all their projects go to series.

IFC Orders Pilot Presentation of ‘American Storage’

The third announcement from IFC’s development slate that came yesterday is based off a short that starred Steve Carell and thankfully not another reality show going through people’s storage units.

IFC & Earwolf Developing Show Starring The Multiple Characters of James Adomian

We’ve been wondering what exactly IFC and Earwolf have been up to ever since that struck that TV production. Well, we’re glad to hear that a show starring the hysterical James Adomian and so many of his great characters is one of those projects, which, by the way, is long overdue.

For the sake of comedy, let’s all hope this gets greenlit and goes to series.

ABC Buys Comedy From Bob’s Burgers Writers Lizzie & Wendy Molyneux and Big C’s Jenny Bicks

With Bob’s Burgers getting a fifth season, there’s more cache for their staff to start doing other projects like Bob’s Burgers writers Lizzie and Wendy Molyneux as well as Big C’s Jenny Bicks selling a workplace comedy to ABC.

Who knows what could come if Bob’s Burgers get a sixth season?

CBS Buys Comedy From Jason Winer & Kay Cannon

Modern Family’s Jason Winer and Pitch Perfect/30 Rock’s Kay Cannon are teaming up over at CBS for a single camera comedy project that might be worth keeping an eye on.

Hopefully, CBS keeps the next few comedy projects they pick up for their development slate along the lines of this one.

Jay Baruchel Producing Semi-Autobiographical Comedy at ABC

ABC has enlisted Jay Baruchel and a sitcom based on his life, which, based on the description, seems like what would happen in This Is The End if Jay left Seth Rogen and went back home to avoid Hollywood (also without the end of days happening).

We’re really curious to see whether this will end up being a single or multi-camera sitcom, especially for how family oriented the series could be.

NBC Developing ‘Reality Bites’ Sitcom with Ben Stiller

NBC, in yet another surprising turn, has added an adaptation of the 90’s cult classic comedy Reality Bites to their development slate.

Interestingly, the adaptation will still take place in the early 90’s before the Internet, which we’re absolutely sure will be the source of so many jokes that will eventually be turned into .gifs if this show ever sees the light of TV screens.

Fox Wins Bidding War for Tina Fey/Robert Carlock Comedy

With this buy over several other interested networks, Tina Fey/Robert Carlock could potentially have series both at NBC and Fox, which we don’t have any problem with.

Ed Helms-Produced Comedy Lands at ABC

Of this latest round of comedy development news, we haven’t heard much from ABC as NBC and Fox having been doing much of the buying lately.

Yet, ABC just nabbed a series to develop that Ed Helms is producing, though we’re a little curious as to whether Helms or someone else will be on camera or not though.

NBC Buys Comedy Produced By Tina Fey & Robert Carlock

30 Rock’s Tina Fey & Robert Carlock being involved in another series at NBC was only a matter of time as it was the obvious move for NBC to keep them both on.

In fact, was anyone timing how long since all the way from when 30 Rock’s series finale ended to now? Whatever that comes out to, it was probably too long.

Harris Wittels Sells Comedy to NBC

NBC has bought up a number of comedy projects, one of which we’re very intrigued by from Parks and Recreation writer Harris Wittels.

We’re not exactly sure what direction NBC comedy is headed as it would seem on the one hand that shows like Community, Parks and Recreation are the last of their kind at the network, yet they’re developing a project from a Parks and Rec’s writer.

Still, this is good news nonetheless.

FX Enlisting Donald Glover To Create/Star In Music-Themed Comedy Series

Among FX’s latest projects that they’re developing to fill their programming schedule when FXx launches, a Donald Glover music based comedy series is definitely one of the more intriguing ones.

Hopefully, this project will get farther than the Dave Grohl/Dana Gould rock comedy that was going to happen.

Comedy Central Developing Key and Peele Animated Show

Three seasons in at Comedy Central and Key & Peele are already having an animated spin off from one of their sketches. We wonder if this will be the metaphorical Talking Dead to the Walking Dead for a sketch comedy show.

Amazon Studios Bringing In More Comedy By Optioning Jill Soloway Half-Hour Project

Amazon Studios is still adding more comedy programming to their line-up, though in a more traditional manner. Jill Soloway, whose first foray into features with Afternoon Delight looks promising, is developing a half-hour project that just got optioned at Amazon Studios.

It’s an intriguing move by Amazon after having all of those original pilots, developed, picked up, and green lit via open submissions and customer reviews.

NBC Will Be Looking For Writers and Sketch Performers/Improvisers For New Sketch Show

Though letting John Mulaney’s pilot go to Fox might be a sign that NBC is shifting it’s branding in comedy, they are looking to make a comedy sketch series (we’re guessing their version of Key & Peele).

They don’t have writers or cast members yet and will be scouting for them very soon throughout the country.

Paul Feig Developing Female Lead Spy Comedy ‘Susan Cooper’

Many other publications are describing it as a “female James Bond comedy,” which makes us think more along the lines of female Austin Powers or, for you cinephiles out there, the exact opposite of In Like Flint.

We’ll be interested to see who plays the lead, especially if it’s Kristen Wiig because then it’d be more like a female Get Smart.
