Watch Sam Morril Carefully Walk Through the Dark Side on His Latest Conan Set

December 10, 2016
Uncategorized
conan, dark comedy, late night, sam morril, stand up

Sam Morril utilizes his cleverness to weave in and out of dark subject matter with such ease that it almost doesn’t seem like dark comedy.

He put that skill on display in his third stand-up set on Conan from this week.

Watch it here.

TJ Miller has found a new way to get through the serious moments in a late night talk show interview.

Taking a cue from being on set at Office Christmas Party, he really does have a dance party go on behind himself and Conan while talking about the times we’re living in right now.

Alice Wetterlund, whom we hope you’ve seen in People of Earth and Silicon Valley, made her first appearance on last night’s Conan doing stand-up.

In her set, Alice dispelled myths about feminism and managed to do so with such a chill, laid back vibe making quite the first impression.

Conan Without Borders: Berlin Premieres on December 7th

Ironically, Germany, with Angela Merkel at the helm, might be a pretty great place to visit right now if you’re in the States.

Along with Flula, Conan’s visit to Berlin should show how fun that could really be.

Catch this latest Conan trip special on Wednesday, December 7th at 10PM on TBS.

Watch Dana Gould, Master of Comedic Timing, Perform His Latest Set on Conan

Of the many subtleties in comedy, timing is one of the most important ones. It’s hard to nail down and master as it’s fluid and intuitive and different, to varying degrees, every time you tell a joke.

The great Dana Gould, per usual, performed his latest set on Conan with flawless timing and sharply written jokes that have such beautiful, unexpected turns.

Watch a master at work here.

Conan O’Brien on Being Thankful We Even Have Elections

November 10, 2016
Uncategorized
conan, election 2016, team coco

Tonight’s episode of Conan, like any other televised program will be doing for the next several weeks, months, and years, put in his two cents on yesterday’s election results.

In contrast to Colbert’s sobering sign-off, Conan takes a silver-lining approach and, as is his contingency plan when things seem to take a turn for the worst in the country, shows us some great, wonderful, pure silliness.

Watch it here.

Nick Kroll and John Mulaney as Gil Faizon and George St. Geegland took a break from their Oh, Hello run on Broadway and had to make a trip uptown to Harlem to see Conan O’Brien during his visit to NYC.

You can see why Conan has said of Oh, Hello, “Seen the show twice and it’s so funny it angers me.

Rory Scovel Is Literally a Man Above the People in His Latest Conan Set

Rory Scovel has a history of making the most of his televised stand-up performances.

On Conan alone, he’s done a set at the same time as Jon Dore, affected a Southern accent, and had a Liberace piano play in the background while in a tuxedo.

So, in this latest stand-up set on Conan, what could Rory do that would top all of that?

Well, watch, see, and, per usual, be amazed while laughing from your gut.

Comedians and actors Nick Kroll, Stephen Colbert, Conan O’Brien, Ryan Reynolds, Eric Andre, and Mike O’Brien are all pretty much straight as far as we know.

Yet, something was in the air yesterday, perhaps the looming end of the century old Curse of the Billy Goat, that had all three interviews end in the same spectacular fashion.

Well, without giving too much away, Mike O’Brien’s 7 Minutes in Heaven ends how he tries to end all episodes of 7 Minutes in Heaven and Conan O’Brien reenacts the Notebook with Ryan Reynolds.

You can take a wild guess what the common link between these interviews are or just enjoy watching male friendship be taken to the next level between the likes of Colbert and Kroll.

Watch Louis CK on Hillary (with Minimal Trump Bashing), the Prospect of Dancing, and Walking Around NYC with His Fly Down

November 2, 2016
Uncategorized
basic cable band, conan, dancing, hillary clinton, louis ck, roast, storytelling, team coco

When you see Louis CK on TV these days, expect a deeply human story born out of very simple, relatable embarrassment, an original angle on the zeitgeist, and comparisons that come out of a left field for comedic effect. Those are some of the big elements that have made him this balance between a grounded, organic comedian/storyteller/filmmaker while maintaining a bit of his absurdist flights of fancy.

He delivered on all three in his appearance on Conan last night starting of with a great case for Hillary Clinton being President sans very many digs at Trump and his supporters.

Then, he followed it up with a story about how he learned the value of honesty and openness through walking around the city with his fly down and open and then breaking down the idea of dancing, both as something that can empower and also promise someone a heartbreaking path in life.

If you use a bit of imagination, you can make this up as an episode of Louie to play out in your head.

It’s yet another unforgettable TJ Miller appearance on Conan, the talk show where TJ probably gets the most free reign. All of what we wrote in the headline did really happen and it was an absolutely crazy delight.

Not much other context is needed for you to enjoy, so we’ll let you just watch the whole interview outside of the headline.

Conan O’Brien To Host Nobel Peace Prize Concert

We sure hope that they do a great, very daft bit about Conan doing this on their next episode.

Conan O’Brien will indeed be hosting the concert for the Nobel Peace Prize in the middle of December in Norway and you will be able to stream it on YouTube.

One can only imagine that the are other Nobel Prize concerts that are jealous, right?

Kyle Kinane Connects the Dots Between Aliens, Snacks, and Finding Out You Had Too Much Fun

Uncategorized

Of the great comedians of this era that will stand the test of time, we believe Kyle Kinane will absolutely be on that shortlist. For years now, Kinane has proved to be consistently hysterical in new and exciting ways while still maintaining a genuine sense of self the whole time.

You might not even notice his wonderful command of the English language and his inclusive perspective as he subtly works them into his jokes about late night food and having a good time, but that’s part of what makes his comedy so damn good.

With that said, watch his latest set on Conan where he puts on another stand-up clinic here.

Norm MacDonald Delivers Another Classic Norm MacDonald-Conan Appearance

Norm MacDonald has always been a great late night guest, but there’s something about when he sits a few feet away from Conan O’Brien on Conan’s late night talk show that makes for comedy gold.

In last night’s appearance, Norm didn’t disappoint in his pregnant pauses, long and winding misdirects, and top level word play that all simultaneously delight and frustrate Conan.

Norm may have not gotten to take over The Late Late Show, but at least we have these late night appearances every once in awhile.

To put the icing on the cake, Norm even snuck himself into the other guest’s segment.

Even though Mary Mack dissects what deeply gets on her nerves, she does so with undeniable Midwestern charm. You can’t help but feel delighted at what makes her mad.

If there’s one thing that Nicole Byer is not, it’s bashful.

The way that has informed her comedy is pretty great as you can see throughout her interview on Conan last night.

Even when she was talking about her non-sexual, green card marriage, she managed plenty of colorful language into the story.

From the get go up until the present (and probably far after), David Cross’ stand-up has been treading on, for certain folks, very controversial territory that has had certain network censors and audience members go awry.

During this most recent Conan appearance, Cross details what got cut out from his very first set, over 20 years ago, on network TV on Late Night with Conan O’Brien and the way that a small number of audience members, in 2016, walk out of his shows now.
