Joe Mande Willing To Do Podcast For a Million Dollars

Joe Mande has drafted a project in Kickstarter, meaning it has yet to be approved and subsequently launched, that poses the idea of Mande doing a podcast so long as he gets a million dollars.

If you pledge $1,000 dollars, Mande says, “I’ll mention your name on the podcast or something who cares.”

Whether or not this launches, Mande continues to game the Internet and we love it.

Matt’s sharp as a tack as you can see in this Conan set and we have no that the podcast will feature a lot of guests delaying eating their food for having too much fun.

Take a listen to Grabbing Lunch with Matt Knudsen here.

Eban Schletter Launches Fantastical Musicorium Podcast

The comedic musical talents of Eban Schletter have finally found their way to a podcast as Schletter has just launched a podcast “Fantastical Musicorium” featuring original music by him that are, new, deep cuts, and everything in between.

Given that Eban is Paul F. Tompkins piano player on many occasions, there’s a good chance, we’d say, of great music coupled with some brilliant silliness to come through, so give Fantastical Musicorium a listen.

The Westside Comedy Theater Launching Its Own Comedy Podcast Network

Whether the dust is still being rustled up or clearing from the comedy podcast boom is unsure, but the model of gathering podcasts under the umbrella of a network seems to be a worthwhile path for the medium right now.

Next week, Santa Monica’s Westside Comedy Theater is starting its very own podcast network with many really funny comedians that have made their way through the LA comedy scene over the last few years including: Rob Gleeson, Mr. Goodnight, Tom Sibley, Josh Covitt, Chase Bernstein, Tushar Singh, Neel Nanda and more.

They’re having a free launch party next week on Thurs. to meet all their new podcasters at 7PM if you’re curious (and we’re suggesting that you should be)

The very funny Candice Thompson and Brenda Colonna are branching out for their sketch group/series Creepy Caress to have a podcast at the Toadhop Network. Somewhat along the lines of a traditional radio show (it will stream every Thursday at 5PM PST) and a fresh departure from comedians just talking about comedy with other comedians, there will be sketches, guest comedians/artists riffing, and an anti-talk show aspect (we’re not sure if that means destroying desks like Eric Andre does on The Eric Andre Show, but we’re sure it’ll be a lot of fun).

Offarious (yes, that’s the melding of offensive and hilarious) launches today at 5PM and you can subscribe here.

This Better Be Funny Podcast: This Better Be Funny Ep. 82 Despicable Edition with Sean O’Connor

Another episode of This Better Be Funny mini-series “Despicable Edition”where we have a guest square off with co-host Jeremy Paul, who admitted to basically being a baby boxing promoter, in a “despicable/embarrassing story off” is here. This week, Sean O’Connor (Conan), a man who told off Bon Jovi, who has a pretty formidable tale in one of the worst girlfriends ever by virtue of the fact that she tried to frame him for a felony.

Listen to how Sean survived that, what Jeremy will admit to from his past, what story wins based off Jake’s decision/possible bias against his co-host, and if Sean wins a cassette tape of David Gray (Yep, that’s what he was playing for).

This Better Be Funny Ep. 81 Despicable Edition with Sean Patton

One of Jake and Jeremy’s favorite guests, the hilarious Sean Patton, who you should know from Conan, Fallon, Comedy Central, and more joins in for The Despicable Edition of This Better Be Funny. The “shameless story off" pits a really twisted story of an ex-girlfriend vs. really underground illegal boxing. What’s illegal and what’s twisted and who is telling which story AND does Sean win the prize of a cassette tape of his choice?

You’ll just have to listen to find out.

Also, you should listen because Jake got his car towed while recording this episode making it probably among the most expensive podcast episodes ever produced

Catch Up on Our Podcast, This Better Be Funny, As We’re Experimenting With It a Little Bit

We’ve been doing our podcast, This Better Be Funny, for over a year now and while we’ve enjoyed riffing it out with some of the funniest comedians we can catch at anywhere from their car to an alley to a dive bar to a Denny’s to the stairs of a Church, we’re trying a little experiment coming next week.

Given that co-host Jeremy Paul has been oft-described as evil and has the stories to back it up, we thought it would be pretty great if we had our guests try to “out-despicable” Jeremy with a story of their own for the prize of a cassette tape of their choice* (*that’s what Jeremy had on hand for a prize). Co-host Jake Kroeger will decide, after the guest’s story and a story of Jeremy’s chosen from slips of paper by the guest, which is more detestable and if the guest wins said cassette tape* (cassette tape player not provided).

The first episode of this ‘Despicable mini-series’ on This Better Be Funny starts off with some pretty great depravity with Alex Hooper this Monday, so tune in then.

In the meantime, catch up on all these great episodes (we’ve got a lot of them since we’ve been doing it for a year) like the one embedded above with Jake Weisman and random girls pissing on his car in which we were recording in and many others featuring the comedic riffing brilliance of:

Byron Bowers
Jerrod Carmichael
Hasan Minhaj

The Walsh Brothers
Baron Vaughn

This Better Be Funny Ep. 79 with Josh Haness

This Better Be Funny

Josh Haness, the co-host of the one of the best live comedy shows in LA, The Josh & Josh Show, joins Jake and Jeremy at The Farmer’s Market to connect the riffing points of Egypt’s removal of Morsi, ICDC, hanging brain during stage productions, after hours supermarkets and what music they should be playing on the PA system, and more. Also, this is what they, a group of comedians did on the 4th of July, as opposed to eating various grilled meats and look at colorful exploding things because that’s their freedom to do so in the good ol’ US of A.

And another thing: If you know of someone at Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ Sauce corporate, if there is such a thing, someone let them know we always plug their sauce on our program (just like I said last week and every time before that).

This Better Be Funny Ep. 75 with James Austin Johnson

This Better Be Funny

Making their way back to Sabor y Cultura, the site of the first episode of This Better Be Funny, Jake and Jeremy enjoy all the hijinks and riffs with the awesome James Austin Johnson, a very funny comedian that has thankfully relocated from Nashville, TN to LA. They go through what Johnson describes as “wes-ing”, the latest (maybe) Wes Anderson meme, getting into an in-depth argument about The Pink Panther, cartoon vs. Peter Sellers, harmonizing with Trapped in the Closet, and a whole bunch more tangential fun.

Also, though not officially sponsored by Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ Sauce, enjoy Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ Sauce. Bet my ribs on it.

This Better Be Funny

While enjoying a lovely afternoon in a North Hollywood public park, Jake and Jeremy riff down a road with this week’s guest Rosie Tran that travels through “the trade-up game”, how to get men to fall in love with you, one night stand 101, and what it means to be a legitimate foodie. Basically, the type of conversation you’d expect comedians to have even if there were plenty of children with their parents around staring daggers at them the whole time.

Danny Solomon (writer for JASH) is this week’s guest joining Jake and Jeremy in a riff session that covers Mos Def’s new name, who owns “cancer”, poor Jehovah’s Witness canvasing strategy, and the Kinsey scale. Oh yeah, there’s also an amazing story of the dumbest bet with the grossest (and also dumb) stakes by Jeremy that you’ll probably hear/have heard in awhile. Jake and Danny certainly couldn’t stop talking about how Jeremy lost a bet of who could get to a 100 farts first.

This Better Be Funny Ep. 70 with Shawn Pearlman

This Better Be Funny

This week, Jake and Jeremy invade a booth at Astro Diner in Silverlake with guest Shawn Pearlman. The gang and their guest didn’t get kicked out, but they got as close as they’ve ever gotten by being sat at the back of the restaurant, which they probably deserved for talking loudly about Paul Anka, legendary (locally) open mic comedian Boon Shaka Laka, and how “too soon” a joke could be if we comedians were clairvoyant. You’d think a 24 hour diner in LA would be used to this type of ruckus by this point, right? Oh well…
