Terry Gilliam’s Time Bandits TV Adaptation  from Taika Waititi in Development at Apple

We all saw what Taika Waititi got to do in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Thor: Ragnarok. Not only did he manage to please the overlords and fanboys of the MCU, but make what will probably remembered as one of the funniest superhero movies in recent memory.

To imagine what Taika might do in the endless, infinite sandbox of Terry Gilliam’s Time Bandits is just a wonderful dream and we really can’t imagine a better person for the gig. Apple’s development slate with an increasing number of projects as intriguing as this one, just keeps getting better and better.

Rob McElhenny & Charlie Day Video Game Comedy Gets Straight-To-Series Order At Apple

AKA Mac and Charlie Will Figure Out a Way to Ruin a Video Game Development Studio?

This is probably a good move for Apple’s comedy programming, though we are curious to see what else they greenlight.

Apple Orders Immigrant Anthology Series ‘Little America’ From Kumail Nanjiani, Emily Gordon, Lee Eisenberg & Alan Yang

Well, Apple is certainly starting off their original programming line-up with a bang. Not only does this have plenty of intrigue just from the stellar writing/producing team assembled whose credits included The Big Sick, The Office, SMILF, and Master of None, but such a show couldn’t come at a more crucial time, in recent memory, for immigrant stories to be told.

Suffice it to say that we can’t even wait to see the trailer for this.

Kumail Nanjiani, Emily Gordon, Lee Eisenberg and Alan Yang Are Developing an Immigrant Anthology Series “Little America” for Apple

Some of the minds behind The Big Sick, Master of None, SMILF, and The Office are coming together to make a series that will effectively show a quilt of the immigrant experience with, of course, their magical, timely touch.

It’s still early to call this a win for Apple right out the gate, but we believe this is definitely a big get for them over all the other networks and streaming services.

Apple Has Plan to Drop $1 Billion on Video Content Over the Next Year

In joining the streaming service fray of Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, YouTube Red, etc. etc., Apple says that they’re putting down $1 billion to make their own exclusive, original content.

As to what exactly that might be has yet to be seen.

However, we’re pretty confident at least a few slices of that billion will go towards comedy, whether it be from some high profile folks or some dark horses that have built their following on their own.

That’s why Above Average decided on a new approach in parodying the announcement of the iPhone 7.

What approach is that, you ask? Well, making fun of the iPhone parody sketch itself.

Bill Hader, Charlyne Yi, Matt Walsh, Danny Pudi, and way more comedy folks showed up in this big opening sketch for the 2015 Apple Worldwide Developers Conference.

It’s a pretty great explanation for not having a tech conference be like an awards show.
