Please Enjoy Anna Drezen’s Debut Late Night Set on Corden

Though you might have seen Anna Drezen’s name most frequently as a writer for SNL, you should know that Anna is quite the wonderfully madcap stand-up.

The way she absurdly twists and turns her premises into punchlines is very satisfying and a joy to watch.

Just see for yourself in this debut late night stand-up set on last night’s Late Late Show with James Corden.

10PM Wed. Sept. 11th

FYI, it should read Jenny Zigrino and Logan Guntzelman where the flyers cut off.

If There’s a Satire Hall of Fame, Reductress Just Earned Their Spot with “How To Win at Feminism”

Reductress, which you could think of as The Onion with a feminist bent, has just released How To Win at Feminism, a book that revels in the fight for equality between the sexes with the sort of wondrous, unapologetic, whip smart tone that you probably know and love from Full Frontal with Samantha Bee.

Within its pages are discussions of Taylor Swift feminists vs. Beyonce feminists, a guide to the rings of hell for women that don’t help other women, and more satirical gold that’s arriving on bookshelves at the perfect time.

Honestly, we think How To Win at Feminism could be potentially enjoyed by all including those stuck in the most toxic depths of masculinity. Maybe they’d even be brought around to the right side of history if they appreciated this book for the carefully crafted piece of satire that it is.

How To Win at Feminism was sharply penned by Reductress’ own Anna Drezen, Sarah Pappalardo, and Beth Newell. There’s a stop on the book tour here in LA with Pappalardo and Newell at Skylight Books on Friday, November 11th at 7:30PM.

‘SNL’ Hires Seven New Writers for Season 42

Zack Bornstein, Anna Drezen, BriTANick (Brian McElhaney and Nick Kocher), Joanna Bradley, Julio Torres, and Kristen Bartlett will be the seven new writers for season 42 of SNL.

With this new row of writers, we hope, based on their previous works including Reductress and any Britanick sketch that SNL gets weirder and more feminist.

Watch IFC’s “Boy Band”, the Darkest Satirical Boy Band Reality Show Parody in Recent Memory

As the boy band formula continues to be successful throughout the decades, there has been parodies of boy bands right there following along. You might remember Conan’s Dudez-a-Plenti or MTV’s 2Ge+her as some of notable examples.

In 2016, Brett Davis of the subversive, meta, absurdist talk show, The Special Without Brett Davis, writes and stars in a new, similarly toned boy band parody in the IFC web series simply called Boy Band.

NYC comedy folks including Anna Drezen, Jo Firestone, Ana Fabrega, Julio Torres (who also co-wrote a good deal of the series), John Early, and more round out a great cast.

There are six episodes in total and you might not look at boy bands, or any reality show endeavor for that matter, the same way afterwards.

Or, if you have a pretty dark view on the music industry, maybe this would just redouble your feelings about the whole boy band model.

Either way, you should watch the whole series here.
