Go See ‘It’s A Disaster’ Before You Have to Have a Real Life Apocalyptic Couples Brunch

April 19, 2013
Uncategorized
apocalypse, dark comedy, it's a disaster

It’s A Disaster by Todd Berger welcomes a wondrously nuanced dark comedy right at the apocalypse, as opposed to so many that are post-apocalyptic and full of zombies, of what will actually happen when most people’s dreaded afternoon at couples brunch was interrupted by their world basically ending.

Think if Lars Von Trier’s Melancholia was incredibly hilarious and you actually liked/related/identified with some of the characters, you’d get It’s A Disaster. Once you’re done with that, go see it at Vintage Los Feliz 3 now or when it opens up wider on June 20th or, we guess, on the Vine app for Twitter @OscopeLabs (starting in chronological order here).

Whether the latest version of ‘21 Jump Street’ flew under your radar or not, maybe you should keep track of the sequel. We really enjoyed the Jonah Hill/Channing Tatum buddy cop dynamic in the first one and we’ll be looking for a teaser or trailer in the coming months.

You’re Following the Hilarious, Wonderful Chaos Happening Up at The Bridgetown Comedy Festival From Andy Peters, Right?

As you read this, The Bridgetown Comedy Festival up in Portland, OR is well under way and if you’re not already at it, you might want to follow Andy Peters’ Wandertown podcast on Soundcloud.

He’s got bits with Todd Glass, little clips of great shows like Competitive Erotic Fan Fiction, comedians walking through the lovely neighborhoods of Portland, heading into strip clubs with Byron Bowers, hanging at vintage arcades with Ron Babcock, and overall just a bunch of fun that we’re all missing being anywhere that isn’t Portland.

Next Monday, they’ll have all sorts of shenanigans limited to 140 characters like Mel Brooks joining Twitter, dining with Steve Agee through Vine, live tweeting day time drinking with the comedians of Comedy Central’s Half Hour, a live roasting with Jeff Ross, and much much more.

Sounds fun, huh? Then, get over your digital prejudice and follow @ComedyCentral on Twitter for #ComedyFest next week.

D.L. Hughley & Michael Ian Black to Face Off as Bold Face Lying Game Show Hosts

TBS continues to expand their comedy brand with a game show, though with an interesting, meta twist. Both D.L. Hughley and Michael Ian Black, on the surface, play normal game show hosts, but are trying to deceive contestants to out do each other.
