The NYTVF/Comedy Central Short Pilot Finalists Have Been Selected
Another round of congratulations today go to all the finalists in the NY TV Festival/Comedy Central Short Pilot Contest including the likes of comedy folks that have been featured on The Comedy Bureau before Michael Jonathan Smith, Grant Pardee, Matthew Hill, and Dave Child/Brooke Lenzi.

It’s A Disaster by Todd Berger welcomes a wondrously nuanced dark comedy right at the apocalypse, as opposed to so many that are post-apocalyptic and full of zombies, of what will actually happen when most people’s dreaded afternoon at couples brunch was interrupted by their world basically ending.
Think if Lars Von Trier’s Melancholia was incredibly hilarious and you actually liked/related/identified with some of the characters, you’d get It’s A Disaster. ’21 Jump Street’ Sequel Set for 2014

In this latest CC:Studios web series, the very funny Steve Agee & Brandon Johnson play an over the hill and desperate sketch duo also by the names of Steve and Brandon finagling their ways to a Comedy Central show. Thus, the name of the show, Steve & Brandon Think They Sold a Show.
All 5 episodes are now online and we suggest that you watch them as it’s funny with so many funny people in it. In addition to Agee and Johnson, there are JC Coccoli, Michael Busch, and the direction of Peter Atencio (director for Key & Peele).
The very funny Geoff Tate (you might have seen on him The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson) has just come out with his very first comedy album through Stand Up Records, a label that’s been on a comedy album streak lately, called “I Got Potential”. A layman’s thinking man for all, Tate’s a delight to listen to and you should pick this up when you can.
D.L. Hughley & Michael Ian Black to Face Off as Bold Face Lying Game Show Hosts
TBS continues to expand their comedy brand with a game show, though with an interesting, meta twist. Both D.L. Hughley and Michael Ian Black, on the surface, play normal game show hosts, but are trying to deceive contestants to out do each other.
This could be a lot of fun.
Denver’s own incredibly funny Adam Cayton-Holland and Andrew Orvedahl who, we hope, you know from The Grawlix or their Amazon Studios comedy pilot Those Who Can’t are releasing their very first comedy albums next week. Not only will you get around 2 hours of great stand-up comedy, but if you pre-order CDs now, you’ll get a sticker and/or baseball card from Cayton-Holland’s “I Don’t Know If I Happy” and Orvedahl’s “Hit The Dick Lights”, respectively.
Sounds like more than a great deal to us, so get to pre-ordering already.
