TJ Miller made a short for Sundance called “I’m Having a Difficult Time Killing My Parents”. It’s funny, absurd, and also sincere and touching much like another short film he was in Charlie on Parole. Do you feel guilty now judging him for being in Yogi Bear? Do ya?
You could arguably call The Super Serious Show the fightin’ pride of LA Comedy. Certainly, they’ve gained quite the reputation within the LA county lines and have even toured to Moontower, Bridgetown, and SXSW. Now, they’re going to the world famous Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August to be part of the “yank” contingent of Hannibal Buress, Eddie Pepitone, Kumail Nanjiani, Rory Scovel, Kristine Levine, Set List, Rick Shapiro, and more.
BUT, they need your help/some money to make sure this all happens. Watch their Kickstarter video to squash any doubts about how great they are and then donate to your heart’s content (of which there should be plenty).

There’s no slinging of dirt and who went back on their word in the past, mostly because this ad for Portlandia on IFC to be considered for an Emmy has nothing to do with politics. Still, actual Portland Mayor Sam Adams, who is actually in the series with fictional mayor Kyle MacLachlan, giving a sincere and quirky request for Emmy votes is much better than “Amercia”. (via Splitsider/PopCandy)
Unlike the last round-up, there’s nothing to read because of how controversial it is. It’s just good ol’ fashioned interviews, articles, recaps on and about comedy, specifically Comedy Bang Bang, Rob Delaney, and more.
–Scott Aukerman talks about brining ‘Comedy Bang Bang!’ to TV by Deborah Vankin for The LA Times
–The Stepfathers vs. A Heckler (improv group takes on a heckler)
–Interview with Rob Delaney by Kyle Ryan for The AV Club
–Master Class: How to Turn Your Podcast Into a Media Network with Jesse Thorn by Joe Berkowitz for Fast Co Create
–This Is What You Need To Know About Comedy in May by Jake Kroeger for Serial Optimist

Andy Samberg confirms he’s leaving ‘Saturday Night Live’. Does anyone have odds on as he walks out of 30 Rock for the last time as a cast member, if he’ll say “Like A Boss”?
…in other comedy ‘trades’ news:
-Both Steve Martin’s comedy specials and box sets of The Sarah Silverman Program will arrive on DVD soon. This news still won’t placate Steve Martin fans begging for his return to stand-up even if he was somehow in the box set of Sarah Silverman Program.
–Christina Applegate returns for ‘Anchorman 2’. We’re really just worried if there’s going to be another news channel fight.
–Jerry Seinfeld will guest star on the new season of Louie on FX. Perhaps, we will get down to the etymology of “What’s the deal with…?”
–Jason Bateman, Zac Efron, Goldie Hawn, and Leslie Mann eye “This Is Where I Leave You”. “Does this mean Arrested Development is still happening?”-too many people

Premiering on Jun. 16th on the TV Guide Network, Stand-Up in Stilettos will feature some of the top female comedians working today including Bamford, Liebman, Gina Yashere, Christina Pazsitzky, Rachel Feinstein, Jamie Lee, Marianne Sierk and more. Check out Laughspin for their full-line-up.

The musical that cleaned up the Tony Awards last year, brought to you by South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, is now coming to Pantages Theatre. For almost two months from Sept. 5th to Nov. 25th, The Book of Mormon will have its run in Hollywood. Tickets go on sale starting at $30 Sun. Jun. 10th.
Eric Andre, dressed as Ronald McDonald, finally leaves McDonald’s where he was asking for a job at the counter. This concludes(?) the, at least for the time being, this harrowing three part saga.
Watch The Eric Andre Show on Adult Swim TONIGHT 12:30AM.
Amidst an online back-and-forth that quickly escalated into a war on Twitter, comedian Jamie Kilstein (@jamiekilstein) and conservative columnist and writer Jonah Goldberg (@JonahNRO) have opted to settle their political differences in the ring.
Goldberg claims, “The fact that young people think socialism is better than capitalism, that’s proof of what social scientists call their stupidity and their ignorance and it’s something that conservatives have to work harder to beat out of them, either literally or figuratively as far as I’m concerned.” If you’re familiar with Kilstein’s politically charged comedy, his Citizen Radio show, and his support of socialism, then it’s no surprise that he didn’t take to the statement or, Goldberg overall, lightly.
So, now there is a petition you can sign to see Kilstein v. Goldberg for a charity of their choice.

Jon Hamm. Michael Cera. Jack Black & Kyle Gass. Will Arnett. Gillian Jacobs. Seth Rogen. Todd Barry. Colin Hanks. Andy Richter. Weird Al Yankovic. and. so. on. The new teaser for IFC’s Comedy Bang Bang has so many comedy stars in under 2 min. we wonder why it’s not coming to the big screen instead of your TV this Fri. Jun. 8th.

Finally, nearly all the late night talk shows are back from their extra-long Memorial Day Weekend, of which we’re sure they were working the whole time. This is exciting especially because last time Aubrey Plaza was on Leno, she performed a spell that for a moment made the show infinitely more watchable. So tonight, catch:
Aubrey Plaza and Martin Short on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno (NBC 11:35PM)
Joan Rivers on The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS 11:35PM)
Jason Schwartzman on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon (NBC 12:35AM)
It was only a matter of time before characters from Game of Thrones took to stand-up in the present day in the real world, right? The very funny Joe Starr and Ron Babcock do their take on what Jon Snow and Theon Greyjoy at a Game of Thrones comedy show at the Little Modern, respectively, would do in regards to telling jokes. Personally, we’ve never seen Game of Thrones (Yeah, we know. Just shoot us dead with internet comments) and this is still really funny.

Jesse Popp’s (Conan staff writer, hilarious stand-up) debut stand-up album is coming out digitally on Comedy Central Records next Tues. Jun. 12th. This will be followed by the premiere of his episode of The Half Hour also on Comedy Central on Fri. Jun. 15th at 11:30PM. Translation: next week is JESSE POPP WEEK.

For the AV Club’s Undercover series where bands they invite cover an increasingly short list of songs suggested by readers, they invited Reggie Watts to cover Van Halen’s Panama which he insisted that he played faithfully. Well, certainly we did hear more about Panama the country and its canal than we have in awhile and we get to hear Reggie Watts do his thing, which usually trumps most things, sans-faith or not.

Host Kurt Braunohler, still barefoot, has contestants Ethan T. Berlin, Kumail Nanjiani, and Ben Garant interpret signs that would never exist on IFC’s Bunk. Watch more anti-game show madness with its premiere on Jun. 8th 10:30PM following Comedy Bang Bang.
Every live comedy tour inevitably goes through a mental/emotional breakdown. Even the successful The Feelings Comedy Tour with Jake Weisman, Dave Ross, and Matt Ingebretson had to go through it. When you have multiple people stuck in a car for several hours at a time, it undoubtedly devolves into a criticism of each other’s take on Arcade Fire, right?
If it indeed is, maybe there should be a live comedy show broadcast from a car on I-40.
This is only the second round of the annual Critics’ Choice TV Awards, but, already, we like their taste.
Nominations in comedy included:
6 for Community
5 for Parks and Recreation
4 for Girls
Conan, Fallon, Kimmel, and The Daily Show for Best Talk Show
Archer, Adventure Time, and Bob’s Burgers for Best Animated Series
So, this is video evidence that Chris Gethard of the currently most famous public access show in recent memory The Chris Gethard Show has made it to Albuquerque, NM. Albuquerque doesn’t disappoint in terms of Breaking Bad shooting there and it’s ridiculousness rubbing off on the townspeople (i.e. having a “license” to throw ninja stars).
That’s only the latest, which was preceded by Chris being forced to confront his fear of heights at the Hoover Dam…
…Chris rocking out with garage band Stainless Steel…
…Chris being driven to Vegas with someone who isn’t that big of a fan…
…and even Chris eating food intended for Montessori students in AZ.
His latest tweet is from Wichita, KS, which is, at its shortest suggested route by Google Map, 742 miles away from Bonnaroo, yet there’s no telling how long that will take via planned hitchhiking.
