Over the last few weeks, toxic masculinity has had several of its many, many heads lopped off with the unstoppable wave of sexual assault, harassment, and rape charges that have come to light.

One would hope that it’s a sign that “different time back then” is over and will not be tolerated anymore kind of like what happens in this darkly comedic, short film “men” from Jon Daly and Gil Ozeri.

Joe Mande and Super Deluxe Are Developing a Joanne the Scammer TV Show

Branden Miller, better known as Joanne The Scammer, has made quite the ruckus with the marvelously infamous character online and will now, apparently, be getting a chance to possibly do a TV show.

Miller won’t be alone in trying to have a Joanne The Scammer TV series though as the very accomplished TV writer/comedian Joe Mande and the creative team at Super Deluxe are on board, helping shape the project before it makes the rounds to potentially get bought up.

Comedy multi-hyphenate Andre Hyland, among his many talents, has a knack for getting the most lively interviews out of those usually droll press junkets where a film or TV show’s talent sit for hours and hours and answer the same questions over and over again.

Hyland has done this for years at various channels and digital platforms under various personas because, well, he boldly has fun like no other interviewer at these junkets does.

The latest iteration of Andre being mischievous amongst A-listers is with the new Super Deluxe web series Bonus Features. One of the biggest things going on at Super Deluxe is the edited mash-up/remix/reimagining videos of Vic Berger.

His work chopping up the most awkward moments of Family Feud with Steve Harvey into an existential meltdown is of particular note.

So, Berger has got another video mined from the treasure trove of gravely concerned Steve Harvey facial expressions, this time from Harvey’s other show, Ask Steve.

It’s possibly even more existential than the first one.

We know it’s only March, but Hannah Utt and Jen Tullock’s web series Disengaged, streaming at Super Deluxe, is already on our short list for one of our favorite things that we’ve come across this year.

Disengaged follows Utt and Tullock as a lesbian couple who rush getting married after DOMA is struck down. The whirlwind of events that follow are simultaneously so organic, grounded, timely, and damn hysterical.

The pilot was released late last year, but the next four episodes of season 1 are all streaming right now.

The new and improved Super Deluxe is honoring its roots from years ago by featuring some of their original content as Super Deluxe Classics like The Brody Stevens Interview Challenge where Brody not only has to pull off an interview with comedians that he knows, but pull off crazy objectives while doing so as directed by a mysterious, dark being.

Just watch how Brody fares while chatting with Zach Galifianakis and David Cross.

Before there was Adult Swim, there was Super Deluxe, which just happened to fold into a big part of the Adult Swim we know and love now.

Now, Super Deluxe is coming back, but different, possibly very different.

As the winds of media shift more and more towards online ventures, whether it be streaming services, online networks, etc., more traditional networks are really stepping on their digital presence.

Rather than absurdist bent that the original Super Deluxe had, this iteration which may end up being called something else, will look for something with more of an emotional core. Given the success of things like Transparent and The Duplass Brothers, it’s something that you might want to keep your eye on.
