A24 Has Their Next Fantastical Comedy Lined Up with Julio Torres’ Problemista (Trailer)

For 2022, A24 really pulled off some magic with having Everything Everywhere All at Once winning nearly everything it was nominated for and  Marcel the Shell with Shoes On receiving heaps of critical acclaim and some awards wins as well. The exuberant imagination brimming through both comedies might be the tip of the iceberg with what lies ahead with their comedy slate including Julio Torres‘ already buzzy Problemista.

Just on paper alone, stand-out comedian and former SNL writer Torres made something eye-catching in his filmmaking debut, Problemista, that’s a magical realism/immigration/art world dramedy co-starring one of the greatest actors of our generation, the ethereal Tilda Swinton. Julio has dreamt up a story of an aspiring toy designer from El Salvador attempting to getting the right to work in the United States only to find that to be Sisyphean task guided/impeded by a manic art curator play by Swinton. Woven throughout are fantastical details and consequences such as immigrants vanishing from the face of earth if they don’t get their Green Card in order in an otherwise very grounded universe.

Otherworldly dramedy might just be A24’s forte and we’re on board for it. See all of this and more for yourself in the first official trailer for Problemista here, then look for it in theaters soon.

Here’s the Trailer for Armando Iannucci’s Charles Dickens’ Movie “The Personal History of David Copperfield”

Even in the best/worst of times that Charles Dickens wrote about, the razor sharp writing/directing team of Armando Iannucci and Simon Blackwell (In The Loop) still manage to weave their dark, playful, quick-as-a-whip humor into something decidedly less political than The Thick of It, In The Loop, and Veep.

Without knowing too much about the movie other than following around Dickens’ David Copperfield, there’s a chance that Tilda Swinton might steal a scene or two.

See for yourself in the trailer for The Personal History of David Copperfield here.

We had musings about what a “Jim Jarmusch zombie movie” might be and, we’ve got to say, thankfully, the trailer for The Dead Don’t Die hits pretty close to what we’re expecting.

Great looks and quips from Bill Murray, a samurai sword wiedling Tilda Swinton, a down-to-earth Adam Driver doing his best, Iggy Pop as a zombie, and, of course, a great soundtrack has our appetite whetted even further.

Get a look for yourself here, then mark your calendars for June 14th when The Dead Don’t Die hits theaters.

Have you been missing The Coen Brothers’ more humorous side as of late?

If so, you’ll been happy to know that their wonderfully dry comedy streak seems to run all through the trailer of their latest offering, “Hail, Caesar!”.

Boasting a stellar cast of Josh Brolin, George Clooney, Scarlett Johansson, Tilda Swinton, Ralph Fiennes, Channing Tatum, and Jonah Hill as well as lavishly done up set pieces of Hollywood’s classic Golden Age, Hail, Caesar! looks to be everything we were hoping it would be.

Watch the trailer here.

Channing Tatum, Tilda Swinton, Ralph Fiennes Joining Coen Brothers’ “Hail, Caesar!”

The Coen Brothers’ latest comedy, Hail, Caesar!, is rounding out its cast quite nicely with Channing Tatum, Tilda Swinton, and Ralph Fiennes joining Josh Brolin and George Clooney in this 1950s Hollywood period piece.

Already, we can imagine the trailer with this cast being pretty spectacular.

‘Grand Budapest Hotel’ Touring on Queen Mary 2 with Stars and Wes Anderson

An exclusive, one-off tour of The Grand Budapest Hotel will be taking place on Cunard Line’s Queen Mary 2 next month. Wes Anderson as well as Tilda Swinton and Jason Schwartzman will be joining in a Q&A session after a screening of the film.

As they sail across the Atlantic from NYC to London, we’re curious if this specific cruise will be promoted as going to Zubrowka.
