Fox Cancels Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Last Man on Earth, The Mick

Well, it looks like Fox is pretty much done with high concept single camera sitcoms for awhile (except for Seth MacFarlane’s The Orville).  Brooklyn Nine-Nine made it to five seasons, Last Man on Earth did four, and The Mick only lasted two.

It should be noted that while Last Man on Earth is on its way out, Fox is still looking towards reviving Tim Allen vehicle Last Man Standing. The addition of another multicam sitcom that takes place in a retirement home, The Cool Kids, even further suggests Fox is going all in on older audiences.

‘The Mick’ Is Getting a Second Season Over at Fox

If It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia doesn’t going on forever, Kaitlin Olson’s future looks pretty secure

Tonight, Kaitlin Olson will go from playing Sweet Dee to starring in her own show, The Mick, where she plays Mickey.

There seem to be some parallels between the characters in terms of being brash and unapologetic, so It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia fans should might want to catch the premiere.

The Mick premieres on Fox at 8PM tonight, then moves to its weekly slot on Tuesdays at 8:30PM starting January 3rd.

Kaitlin Olson, best known as Sweet Dee from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, is getting set to topline her own series over at Fox called The Mick.

From this trailer, you can see Olson still seem to live in the spirit of Dee, but getting to deal with much, much, much richer ne’er-do-wells this time around.

If you’re into it, you can catch the series premiere on New Year’s Day 2017 on Fox.

Fox Unveils Trailers for “Son of Zorn”, “Making History”, and “The Mick”

It looks like Phil Lord and Chris Miller are really rubbing off on Fox in the best way possible.

Two of the new comedies that were announced at Fox’s Upfronts presentation have Lord and Miller’s hands involved and those just happen to be two very enticing high concept comedies.

One, Son of Zorn, puts an animated He-Man type, voiced by Jason Sudeikis, into the 9-5 grind in the real world with Johnny Pemberton as a son, Cheryl Hines as an ex-wife, Tim Meadows as the ex-wife’s fiance, and Artemis Pebdani as his boss. Here’s the trailer.

The other involves Adam Pally as someone who has a time machine and has abused it. Thus, he enlists an accomplished history professor played by Yassir Lester to fix something he might have screwed up in the American Revolution. Here’s the trailer for Making History.

Both make Fox’s live action comedy line-up have a certain high concept sheen already laid out by Last Man on Earth and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

To round out the new series, Fox has a show that is basically a Sweet Dee from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia standalone series. See for yourself in the trailer for The Mick starring Sweet Dee herself, Kaitlin Olson.

All in all, Fox has a lot of promise with this trio.
