FX/FXx Picks Up Billy Crystal-Josh Gad Series ‘The Comedians’

The premise of two eras of comedy colliding, more disparate than those of Funny People with Seth Rogen and Adam Sandler, is now going to be the newest show at FX/FXx will have Josh Gad as a younger, edgier comedian working for vet comedian played by Billy Crystal (who is making a long awaited return to TV here) on a sketch show.

As this is another show dealing with the sort of the behind the scenes of comedy under the umbrella of FX, we immediately wonder if they or Louie would do a crossover of any kind.

Craig Robinson’s Mr. Robinson Going to Series at NBC

NBC has just ordered a handful of episodes from Craig Robinson’s pilot Mr. Robinson to air, which, according to the description, sounds a lot like School of Rock as a TV series starring Craig Robinson.

Anyone taking bets for whether they’ll do a parody of the song Mrs. Robinson at some point?

With all the animated series that he’s responsible for currently at Fox (Family Guy, American Dad, The Cleveland Show), Seth MacFarlane has his own department at Fox, right?

Amber Tozer Sells Tozer Show to Fox ADHD

Fox ADHD has possibly just got its latest series from buying Tozer Show from the very funny Amber Tozer.

From what we’ve seen from her web series nitTWITs as well as her stand up, we’re excited to hopefully see the Tozer Show make it to series.

John Mulaney Comedy Lands Series Order at Fox

If this turns out to be a hit series, which, given John Mulaney’s comedic sensibilities and having Martin Short around and perhaps keeping the rest of the stellar cast on board, there might just be a book written about how Fox essentially took this show when NBC didn’t want it.

We had a feeling that Mulaney was going to be a show somewhere.

FXx Makes First Series Order with Danny McBride’s Animated ‘Chozen’

The process of programming an entire comedy channel at FX’s comedy spin-off channel, FXx, has begun.

Just as it has been confirmed (as was suspected) that Eastbound & Down’s latest season will be its last, Danny McBride is already set for his next project, an animated comedy at FXx called ‘Chozen’.

Alpha House and Betas Get Greenlight at Amazon Studios

Congratulations to Alpha House and Betas both making it as Amazon Studios’ first original comedy series and being part of TV, and subsequently comedy, on the Internet forward. We’re glad that people will get to see more of Jon Daly on whatever screen their watching.

Still, we’re really shocked Those Who Can’t and The Onion News Empire didn’t make the cut or, hopefully, we’re just reacting prematurely.

‘Alpha House’ & ‘Betas’ Picked Up By Amazon Studios

Amazon is finally giving series orders out to their pilots. Alpha House and Betas are only two of the 8 original comedy series that Amazon started with.

We’re still waiting to hear about the others like Those Who Can’t.

Mike Judge’s Silicon Valley Comedy Goes To Series at HBO

Not only the likes of Mike Judge and Scott Rudin leading this project set in Silicon Valley, but TJ Miller, Thomas Middleditch, Zach Woods, and Kumail Nanjiani are all in the cast.

To say the least, we’re really excited for this one.

Adult Swim Orders Series From Dan Harmon/Pilots From Paul Scheer & Much More

Adult Swim just announced their latest production/development slate which includes a Dan Harmon/Justin Roiland animated series, Mike Tyson animated series, a sequel from Robot Chicken, and pilots from Paul Scheer/Curtis Gwinn/Jonathan Stern as well as the creators of Space Ghost: Coast to Coast, and more.

Great news all around and also probably why Harmontown @ Nerdmelt is on Sundays now instead of Mondays.
