1. Conan O’Brien vs. Hot Ones. Point Conan (and then some). We’d almost put money that no other late night host would put on a better show on Hot Ones. Please enjoy this in all its hilarious, disgusting glory (complete with Jose Arroyo as some sort of MD) here.

2. Matt Stone and Trey Parker are partnering with Kendrick Lamar and Dave Free‘s pgLang to make live action movie musical (Deadline), which, based off the successes of Book of Mormon and Kendrick being, well, Kendrick, we’re going to guess this project might be pretty good.

3. Red hot off a blazed trail of Bottoms from last year, the astounding Rachel Sennott is coming to screens this year with a role much more close to home as she will be playing a stand-up really going through a heavy bout of grieving with the (very probably) aptly named i used to be funny from the amazing hands, vision, and mind of one, Ally Pankiw (director of probably one of your new favorite Black Mirror eps.). Take a gander at i used to be funny with the trailer here, then look for an indie rollout beginning in June.

4. Since Margot Robbie, with the help of Greta Gerwig, conquered with Barbie, she is now being tapped to adapt the cruel board game classic Monopoly into a feature length film (BBC News). No matter the take that Robbie chooses to go with in making a Monopoly movie, get ready for an entire boatload of think pieces about late stage capitalism.

5. Right before The Truman Show, Japanese television had a much more alarming, very real version of it that starred an up and coming comedian. See what they hath wrought in the upcoming Hulu documentary, The Contestant. See for yourself in the trailer here, then look for it on Hulu starting May 2nd.

6. Netflix Is a Joke Fest is only a few weeks away and you can feel the streaming giant going full press with their entire comedy roster now stretching from Mulaney doing a docu-series of Los Angeles called Everybody’s in LA (since Mulaney’s a voice for LA now?) and Netflix’s rising star from around the heart of TX, Ralph Barbosa, hosting Netflix’s Introducing series (the NIAJF’s version of New Faces).

7. Speaking of festivals, the small, but mighty Pack Theater is throwing their own festival this Summer, PackFest, and they’re taking submissions for comedy of all kinds RIGHT NOW.

1. You probably already know, but R.I.P. Matthew Perry. May you revel in the moment in time that Chandler and Monica revealing their relationship sent reverberations across pop culture and delve into the wide swath of Perry’s filmography in the coming days and weeks.

2. Though the year 2023 is coming to a close, the procession of marvelous debut albums isn’t over quite yet. In fact, both AST Records and Good Delivery, a stalwart NYC stand-up show, aren’t done yet either since they just released Good Delivery co-host’s James Hamilton’s fantastic debut album I Don’t Deserve These Deals and then, came out with We’re All Dads Here, the debut album of Natasha Vaynblat, yet another Good Delivery co-host just a few days ago. Vaynblat makes good on the Good Delivery name is there is the rhythm and cadence are smoothly poised. Yet, she beautifully contrasts that with letting her whimsy and imagination run amok (i.e. espousing the virtues of everyone wanting to be dads, butts being mouths, etc.). The cheeky absurdity that Vaynblat wheels and deals in is only heightened by her never breaking for even a second (being kinda Russian helps, we bet). Kinda Russian or not, Vaynblat’s debut album signals many more great bits and misdirects (and album covers) to come from Natasha in the not so distant future. 3. Nate Bargatze is the master of being a man constantly in the comedically wrong part of spacetime. Bargatze continues with this theme in a water tight, but, per Nate’s signature low key style, set for his SNL opening monologue this past Saturday.

4. Dallas’s very own Ralph Barbosa is about to debut in 100 and however many territories Netflix covers these days as his very first special Cowabunga is releasing at midnight PST tonight.

5. After years behind the camera that led to winning an Emmy via Ted Lasso, Jamie Lee thankfully returns to a starring role alongside Jon Heder in Plan B, a rom com that mixes and matches baby daddys and one-night stands (Deadline).

6. We’ll leave you with this: What about an alternative history dramedy where Lorne Michaels retired from SNL 15 years ago and the show got to be reborn in a blaze of glory?

1. Seems like Netflix is picking their old pace of stand-up specials. Earlier this week, it was Luenell and now they’re set to release rising star Ralph Barbosa and his debut hour special on the streaming giant. Called Cowabunga, Ralph’s hour is set to premiere on Halloween, which should provide a nice non-scary alternative to those who are mostly looking to ignore trick-or-treaters or getting dressed up that Tuesday night. Here’s Ralph’s very chill announcement to prove that sentiment.

3. Matt Walsh holds up from taking the floor on Dancing With the Stars until the WGA Strike is resolved (Deadline). So, this means more live improv from Matt Walsh until then?

4. Seth MacFarlane has now upped his total contribution to the Entertainment Community Fund, a general fund for those affected by double strike, to $6 million in total (Deadline). Hope that the strike is referenced in plenty of episodes of the multitude of shows that MacFarlane has a hand in (especially The Orville).

5. The latest comedy export from Australia will come in the form of Aussie hit TV series Colin From Accounts on Paramount+ on Nov. 9th. Take a gander at how charming their accents are amidst an absurd meet cute.
