The Comedy Bureau Field Report Ep. 46: Aristotle Athiras & Keeping Up During COVID

February 10, 2021
News, The Comedy Bureau Field Report
aristotle athiras, goatface comedy, melissa villaseñor, munawar faruqui, powerpuff girls, reboot, search party

Aristotle Athiras is the rare sort of comedian that has actually flourished in improv, sketch, and stand-up and also worked in front of and behind the camera as performer and director. With such a diverse quiver of skills, Aristotle has found opportunities and managed to stay working, as a director for Will Smith’s home show, and very much look forward to be prepared for where the next thing in comedy might be (i.e. Clubhouse). Athiras zooms with TCB’s Jake Kroeger about his time in lockdown and the future of comedy as well as “hot” takes on Munawar Faruqui getting arrested on suspicion of jokes, Melissa Villasenor hosting The Spirit Awards, Search Party getting renewed, and the pilot for a live action reboot of Powerpuff Girls at CW.

Check out Aristotle’s work as part of Goatface Comedy here (this is the specific sketch we kept talking about during the episode)

Cartoon Network’s revival of their hit animated series The Powerpuff Girls just released a preview clip and it seems like it’s going to stay faithful to the fun, offbeat spirit of the original series.

The Powerpuff Girls are set for their return sometime this Spring.

Almost 10 years since it ended, The Powerpuff Girls are now set for a return to Cartoon Network. It’ll be fascinating to see what The Powerpuff Girls will be like considering how widely appealing of a cartoon it was when it first premiered back in 1998 and how Cartoon Network is much different place with Adult Swim being a major portion of the network.

Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until 2016 to find out.

Cartoon Network Sets New ‘Powerpuff Girls’ Special Featuring Ringo Starr

Some of you might know that there was a time before Adult Swim where Cartoon Network was making cartoons that were leaning in the direction of shows for a wide range of ages as opposed to just kids.

Amongst them, Powerpuff Girls was one of their most popular and is now going to be coming back near the end of Jan. with a special that will feature the voice of Ringo Starr.

So, January/2014 along with everything else that’s premiering is shaping quite nicely already.
