Night of Too Many Stars Is This Saturday (and HBO Made Sure to Redo This Promo Sans Louis C.K.)

The big annual TV special Night of Too Many benefiting programs for autism was set to be even bigger as this is the first year that the live event will be broadcast on HBO rather than Comedy Central.

Jon Stewart and a whole boatload of, as the name suggests, too many stars do various bits through the evening in order to raise money. Until last week, one of those guests was Louis C.K., then all the fallout of his sexual misbehavior claims being confirmed happened resulting in C.K. effectively having his career stripped away from him.

So, this promo was actually promptly redone to make sure C.K. was completely severed from the event.

All of that being said, it still has “too many stars” and you should set aside time to watch and support on Saturday, November 18th on HBO at 5PM/8PM PT/ET.

As Jon Stewart has shifted from The Daily Show at Comedy Central to various projects at HBO, the gigantic annual benefit that raises money for organizations servicing autism has also moved to the premium cable network.

This promo with Jon announces that this latest Night of Too Many Stars will happen on Saturday, November 18th. No specific line-up is given, but you can trust, that between Stewart and HBO, this benefit show will live up to its name once more.

Louis C.K. Takes Someone To Bow at a Broadway Play, Sarah Silverman Confronts Auction Winners as Her Parents, and Plenty Of Night of Too Many Stars Prizes Still Up For Grabs

Last night’s Night of Too Many Stars on Comedy Central was one wild, raucous, probably NSFW ride all in support of autism programs.

Such things as Louis C.K. taking an auction winner to take a bow at a Broadway play they weren’t in and Sarah Silverman confronting other auction winners like she would confront her parents all really happened.

Though the special is over, you can still support the charity via donation here or through entering into contests to win tickets to the last taping of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, tickets to The Roast of Justin Beiber, having a Vine video directed by Judd Apatow, be drawn into The Simpsons, or have a White Castle slider named after you.

If you were honest with yourself, you’d probably just pay and enter these contests without supporting any charity, so get on donating/entering now.

Since 2003, Night of Too Many Stars has raised millions of dollars for autism programs as well as putting on one heck of a show.

This year, they’ve got a Paul Rudd wheel, John Oliver committing a crime for charity, Chris Rock being a spokesperson to highest bidder, and appearances from Weird Al Yankovic, Abbi Jacobson & Ilana Glazer, Martin Short, Bill Burr, Steve Carell, Louis C.K., Maya Rudolph, Sarah Silverman, Jim Gaffigan, John Oliver, Larry David, and way more.

That’s all on top of The Simpsons prize we mentioned yesterday.

Variety recapped a pre-taped portion of all the craziness that went down.

There’s also a “friendly chat” with former Happy Gilmore co-stars Bob Barker  and Adam Sandler.

Executive producer of the event Robert Smigel details more of the evening festivities as well as the cause of autism programs in which it’s supporting while on The Daily Show earlier this week.

There will be a live telethon when this year’s Night of Too Many Stars airs in order to take donations for autism programs this Sun. Mar. 8th at 8PM on Comedy Central.
