Ahamed Weinberg is a name that, if you haven’t committed to memory yet from his short films and stand-up (you might have seen him on Seth Meyers recently), please do so.
We’re a little late to the party in sharing his latest offering, Ahamed’s Ramadan Diary, but we’re still telling you about it now because it shows off all the facets of Ahamed’s comedy and very unique perspective as a white Muslim in America with the last name Weinberg.
Please enjoy all five short episodes here.
Dozens of Literary Agents Are Holding an Open Call for Submissions from Muslim Writers
Normalizing those minority groups that are under threat in these turbulent times is one way to push forward against unjust discrimination. More exposure through TV, film, books, etc. of Muslims will properly inform the American people that they shouldn’t be triggered by the words “Muslim” or “Islam”.
So, literary agent Clelia Gore has compiled an growing list of dozens of literary agents from several different literary agents that will take submissions from Muslim-heritage writers.
With that in mind, we’d love to see plenty of Muslim comedy writers, authors, comedians get to write a book and share their story from this opportunity.
See the full list of agents you can look up and contact if you fall into this category here.
Aasif Mandvi’s Satirical Muslim Family Sitcom “Halal in the Family” Seems More Important Than Ever
This web series was released awhile ago and won a Peabody Award, but given how fighting Islamophobia is, for some reason (potential Muslim registry, anyone?), now more important than ever, Aasif Mandvi’s Halal in the Family is a nice satirical reminder that we have more in common with each other than we don’t.
Oh, also, it’s so darkly funny on top of all of its social commentary. Watch, enjoy, and share.
The power of Beyoncé is undeniable.
During his Conan appearance last night, Kumail Nanjiani shares a story that perfectly illustrates that notion.
