Both How Did This Get Made? with Paul Scheer and The Lesbian Agenda with Sophie Santos have built their respective reputations with both questioning the established order of things. So, they’re joining forces for a very special evening with their dive in, dissect, reenact, and discuss with the crowd in attendance the 90s Kevin Smith staple, Chasing Amy, in order to see if a movie about a lesbian falling in love with Ben Affleck holds up in 2022.

Here’s the trailer in case you forgot how 90s it is.

It should be nothing but great fun and definitely the evening for those who are currently steeped in 90s nostalgia. This Discussion & Analysis of Chasing Amy with Paul Scheer and Sophie Santos is set for Fri. Aug. 5th at Dynasty Typewriter at 7:30PM PT. Tickets are $20 and you best go get them now here as we do have a feeling that this will sell out.

Kevin Smith Is Launching a Delivery Pop-Up for Mooby’s in Support of Feeding Undocumented Families

Within the Kevin Smith universe, Mooby’s is the chain restaurant that sharply poked fun at both organized religion and capitalism. It’s definitely one of the many great details throughout Kevin Smith’s Dogma.

As there has been a trend of pop culture themed pop up restaurants in LA AND there’s a need to take care of each other right now during this pandemic, Kevin Smith will actually be launching an entire Mooby’s pop-up in support of No Us Without You, an organization dedicated to feeding undocumented families that are most certainly in need at this time.

The menu for this special pop-up includes:

Mooby’s Messy Lasagnawich: (available as a vegan option), Hater Totz, and Chocolate Covered Pretzels. Every meal comes with an autographed card from Kevin Smith.

There’s also a wide variety of beer and wine.

This Mooby’s pop-up will start this Sun. Apr. 19th via Postmates and will run all the way to Sat. Apr. 25th. Get more details and put your orders in here.

Ever since I first introduced the fictional fast food joint in my films, folks have said “You suck at movies, so open a Mooby's!” Now the folks who did @savedbythemax is building the @moobyspopup – an IRL eatery in Los Angeles that opens later this year, pandemic depending! But as a preview of what’s to come, a Mooby Meal will be available for delivery in L.A. via @postmates starting THIS SUNDAY and running til 4/25! Our takeout Mooby Meals include "Mooby's Messy Lasagna Sandwich" with a side of "Hater Totz" and "Chocolate Covered Pretzels" for dessert! And for your “toy surprise”, we include an autographed Reboot card from me, that will also entitle the bearer to front row slots when the pop-up is finally open to the public! And we’re donating the proceeds to @nouswithoutyou (providing meals to families in need effected by Covid 19). If you’ve ever seen #dogma, or #jayandsilentbobstrikeback, or #clerks2, or #jayandsilentbobreboot, you’ve seen fake people eat at a fake fast food joint! Now, BE a fake person eating actual food from a real restaurant! Many thanks to @heyitsderekberry and the #savedbythemax folks for making a dopey dream come true! Follow @moobyspopup and on the high holiday of 4/20, live the Mooby’s slogan “I’m Eating It!” (Mooby Meals will be prepared by Chef @royce_burke and the @secret_lasagna team. Limited amounts daily, all of which will be offered first come, first serve. Hours 12pm-8pm. Follow @MoobysPopUp for more info!)

“Mallrats 2″ Is Now Being Developed as a TV Series

Come to think of it, plenty of long-awaited sequels might have fared better as a TV series.

It’s been 21 years since Kevin Smith released Mallrats. In that time, it has become a cult hit that propelled Smith’s career. Making a sequel has proven tough though, which is why Smith has opted to now developed Mallrats 2 into a 10 episode TV series.

Given that there’s a whole cinematic universe of Kevin Smith movies, a TV series will give what might have been an overstuffed Mallrats sequel the room to do as much as it wants to and play in said Kevin Smith-verse.

Kevin Smith to Shop Around Half Hour Pot Comedy “Hollyweed”

We could imagine Dante and Randal types from Clerks running a pot dispensary.

Kevin Smith already has an entire 30 min. episode shot of his workplace comedy set at a pot dispensary, Hollyweed, that could be sold as any number of things to networks or streaming services that might be interested.

Smith will no long be Silent Bob as he’ll be starring in a speaking role. Given Smith’s ventures since the first Clerks into other genres and more dramatic, and even horror, territory, it’ll be fascinating to see what Hollyweed might become and where it might land.

Kevin Smith Confirms That a “Mallrats 2″ Is in The Works

Those who loved their comedies from over a decade ago got some damn good news this week.

First, Zoolander 2 will happen and has a release date.

Now, Mallrats 2 is set on Kevin Smith’s schedule 20 years after the release of Mallrats.

Already, Smith has a Clerks III set in motion and has a comedy horror project Moose Jaws following that this year, leaving the sequel of the oft-quoted Mallrats for 2016.

There’s no word on whether the entire original cast will return, but it would be fun to see whether the new Batman still sells clothes at a mall.

So, hell hath no fury like a woman’s scorn for Candy Crush?

Clerks 3 Will Have to Wait as The Weinstein Company Has Reportedly Passed on It

Kevin Smith was just about to get around to doing a third installment of Clerks when the whole project was brought to a screeching halt. The Weinstein Company, the owners of the franchise rights, have passed on it according to Smith based on the budget being too high for their liking, which was $6 million.

There’s no further word on the fate of Clerks 3, but we’d bet this is probably isn’t the end of the road just yet.
